Does anyone here have a birthday on or near Christmas?? Or maybe someone you know?
My wife's birthday is the 26th and it kind of seems like it sort of just "blends" into the festivities along with Christmas. Don't get me wrong....we all go out of our way to have a cake and "celebrate"....sing happy birthday etc.... but still, it's just not the same thing when almost everybody is also opening presents at the same time. Also, my sister's birthday is on New Years Eve!!! that's different! I think...everyone wants to have (or go to) a party! She always has a great birthday party...
Just wanted to hear some of your stories.....
Happy Holidays Everyone.

Hi I dont know anyone at Christmas but the New Year is the same. My daughter was born 11.59pm on New Years Eve. Hey can you get closer than that? and of course everyone is celebrating the New Year so parties when she was little had to be in January. Luckily her brother was born 13 January, and yes it was a Friday, and so could have a party for both mid way but the celebrations for my daughter all got muddled with New Year

It must be kind of cool to be able to count it down to the exact minute you were born...I don't think I even know what time (exactly) I was born....I'm just glad to make it threw another year! Even if I did know what time, I doubt that I would think to count it down...New Years Eve would be a fun time for a birthday!
Happy New Year....and Happy Birthday to your daughter too.

My sister has a birthday around the holidays and she hates it. People are all about the holiday and it does get lsot in the celebrations. She gets the double gift and people are sending her christmas cards rather than birthday cards. But she is single without children and I tell her that the only people that do anything for mine are my kids and partner so it isn't that bad really, but still she hates it none the less.

My sons birthday is on 21st December he loves having a birthday this close to Christmas. This may change as he gets older. I always make sure that he gets separate birthday and Christmas presents.
We always make it special for him by taking him out somewhere and I make sure he has a cake and we all sing happy birthday to him.

Yes, it is a great day to have a birthday near christmas. My friends birthday is on 25th Dec, itself on Christmas and we celebrate both very happily and enjoy a lot. It is the birth of Jesus Christ on December 25, but this date is not only celebrated for him but also for my friend who is so dear to me. Also, gift-giving and many other aspects of the Christmas festival involve heightened economic activity among both Christians and non-Christians, the holiday has become a significant event and a key sales period for retailers and businesses. We enjoy this day very much and also the whole world.

A friend of my cousin's birthday was on the 26th December, I haven't seen her in a while so don't know how she feels about it now but as a child she disliked it because she used to say that it felt like an afterthought and since her birthday was during school holidays most of her friends were either busy with their family events or away on holiday. Another thing she complained about was that she got half the gifts, the example she always used was that she would get an outfit for those two days, the blouse/jacket/etc. would be her Christmas present and the skirt/jeans/etc would be her birthday gift whereas everyone else would get an outfit for their birthday and another for Christmas. Well it's better then 29th January I suppose only having a birthday every 4 years.
Happy Holidays.

My daughter's birhtday is on the 4th of December, so it has always been fairly easy for my husband and I to be able to keep her birthday separate from Christmas. However, both my brother-in-law and father-in-law have birthdays that are during the week between Christmas and New Year and both of their birthdays have been lost in the holiday shuffle since I have known them, so for the last eight years. I am so glad that my daughter was born 23 days early so that we are able to keep the two celebrations separate.
