How do you feel about the new year? Is it a fresh start for you each year? Is this year 2010 special for you? Or do you make it a time to complete the old year?
Myself, I just set up things for the new year, bookkeeping type of stuff. I close all the Christmas down. The tree, the cards etc. I try to cheer up the house to get us through the winter, it gets a little dreary around here until late March.
This is how I start each year.

On the practical side, I get all of my things for taxes around at the end of each year, and like you, put away holiday decorations, but leave something about to create a warmer atmosphere for the cold winters: red throws and pillows, candles, things like that.
On a more philosophical note, for me, it is a time of reflection on the year just past, and what I can learn from it, as well as time for setting a goal for the new year.

I like the idea of things to add warmth to the home.

The feeling of new year is indeed the special one. It is like a new start to the life. This sort of perception of the new year makes it the special day. This new year is very special to me in many as I am going to get job this year for sure. Also I want to start mylot through fresh new mindset. Lets hope this new year will be the best new year.

New year is one of the most special events for me. I consider this day special simply because it's a beginning of a new year which means a beginning of a new life too. We can have some changes in another year. I don't exactly know how am I going to explain how I always feel every time I welcome a new year. This day makes me happy and joyful.

Really, i felt good about new year. it gave me a chance to say wishing people with love.It again gave me to make a good evaluation for the years to come also as well as the year already gone.I mean it gave a feedback.Again it gave a sign of maturity in one's life. Interesting going to become elderly year by year!

I like to make a list of things I want to accomplish. Some of them are large, some are small, but I list them all. Some things are leftovers from 2009, but that's ok. I will do them first this year. I try to get the tree down by January 1 and get the house back in order after the holidays. It helps to start with a clean and orderly home. It doesn't get dreary around here, because I will have out the seed catalogs and be planning a garden!

I am starting this year with some good intentions financially, and we will just see if we get there. I think the new year is a great time to go through records and stuff getting a fresh start. Winter has already been too long this year.

I have mixed feelings about the new year! I usually make all of these far-fetched resolutions, and always tend to believe that January 1st of the new year is always going to be something of a "new start", but in reality.. I know that it's really just a continuation of what was going on the year before. *shrugs*. lol. I can't really say for sure if 2010 will be special for me..With any luck it will be, though!

I'm excited about the new year. I do feel like it's, in a way, a fresh start for me. I haven't made an official new year's resolution yet, but I do have some ideas. I don't know if I would consider 2010 special, but it will be when I turn my last year of being a teenager, so I guess that's pretty huge. Some time soon, I will also have to help my family take down the Christmas tree and clean up, which is a little depressing because Christmas is my favorite holiday. But for the most part, I am excited for the new year =]

The past few year New Year's day has been kind of a milestone marker. It signals a sigh of relief as I realize that I have gotten through the end of the holiday season. I generally see as the end of another hard year. I do look at the new year as a new beginning, and always hope that the New Year will be a little easier, a little kinder, and less challenging.
It also signals that winter break is almost over and time to go back to working in a classroom of students. I have to say this winter break I've missed working. I really have I will enjoy going back and seeing those smiling face. Perhaps, I'm feeling especially this way because I know I will only have two week's left working with these students.
Another part of me like every winter break feels like there is still a million things I need to get done and I've accompolished none of them. I've taken the winter break for some down time and trying to make a plan for earning extra money. So, I guess you could say I got one thing crossed off the list and a million remains.
In 2010, I am looking forward to student teaching. Graduation is nearing in May. While the new year holds so much promise it also holds so much uncertainity. I am going to try to embrace the new year as a new experience and hope for the best is to come in 2010!
