Holiday rush is in...This morning as I travel to my work, I was stucked in a traffic and instead of complaining I maintain my good mood for I don't want to ruin my day...And as I expected when I go home it's also traffic...I'm stucked in a traffic for 1 hour. that my butt hurts...I've seen people rushing to buy at the malls, at the market to buy fruits, ingredients for their menu this coming new year celebration, I have no choice but to observe people in the middle of a traffic jam! I always wonder why, people love shopping the last minute and complain that it's traffic, a lot of people love did not plan earlier, they love cramming, and it happens every year.
Anyway, going back to my question...have you ever stucked in a traffic jam for 1 hour? what did you do to kill the time and how was the experience?

hi becdmd! i live in pasay city. i used to work in pasig city. during those days when mrt is still under construction, you will really regret the day you were born. i used to work as an instructor and my last subject is 8pm. normally my travel time from edsa crossing to buendia is 45mins. but because of this major construction, i get on bus at 830pm and i get off it @ 1230am. there were even times that i already fell asleep somewhere in boni and after 1 and a half hour of sleeping, i woke up to found out that im still in boni.. oh before i forget, those days where rainy seasons. happy new year becdmd

I'm really shocked at your story that you go home so late because of the traffic jam, not only that you fell asleep yet you were still the same place when you woke up. Gosh! that's really stressful. I hope next year the traffic in that place were able to improve.

that happened during those times when they were still constructing those T posts. have you ever had an idea on how they constructed it? first, they'll put those rounded steel bar and pour cement, after that the T bar on the top will be placed where one end face south and the other end face north. so there would be no scaffolds along the hi-way itself. as soon as it reaches 10pm using a mammoth machine those T bars on the top will be twisted facing east and west this time. that's why all T bars on the top of the mrt are facing east and west. but they were originally constructed facing north and east.

My best is an hour and a half . . . I was pretty amazing traffic and I was late for my date. The feeling was awful, I was in a public bus and all the people in were getting nervous. They started to talk about how stupid is the government, who they trust, how can such things happen and etc. The feeling's not good at all :) Imagine you're in a public bus for an hour and a half staying at one place. No moving! The doors can't be open, because you're not at a bus stop, everybody's nervous and stressed. . . Huh, better not experience this!

Wish you a Happy New Year.
Getting stuck in the traffic jam can be fun if you observe closely. Does it irritate you?

Hi, one hour isn't so bad..every year, when we return to my hubby's home town for the festive seasons, we encounter traffic jams that could change a usual 4-hour journey to 7 or 8 hours. It was frustrating, maddening....! So now, we travel days earlier or later(before or after the usual holiday traffic)!

I usually don't get trapped in a traffic jam my friend. I always use my bike as the means of transportation. Thus whatever the traffic may be, I just slip away through it my friend.

hi friend, during my college days i used come in my college bus .daily my college bus will get stucked in traffic jam.more than a hour it will take to come out of that traffic.my route bus will go through the main junction of train and all other vehicles move.during evening for thirty minutes gate will closed in the junction since all the trains start at that time to other places.so we should wait for thirty minutes to let the get open and it will again take thirty minutes to come out of that traffic .
wish you a happy new year :)

yeah a few years while driving to florida about thirty five to forty miles away a tour bus had caught on fire and the traffic was backed up for miles not moving and people turned off cars and did things around the cars. We were there for about two hours when we found a diffrent way to get there.

It's happened once before and that was many years ago. My family decided to drive down to Long Beach, California (it was a 13 hour drive) to visit family for Christmas and we got stuck on the freeway on our trip back home. It was really foggy that day and there was a major accident involving two semi trucks and a few other vehicles. So, we ended up being stuck for around two hours. My family just spent the time talking and having this little family bonding moment. It actually made things go by really fast because we were discussing our trip and other things.
As for being stuck in traffic in town, I think the longest for me was around 30 minutes. There was the holiday rush plus road construction taking place. I was a bit bored so I spent my time eating in the car and making up lists of things I need to do and such. People were getting annoyed and they were honking their horns but I just ignored them and turned up the volume for the music. There's no point with getting irritated. It wasn't like I could do anything about the situation.

During traffic jams, I'll talk on my phone, text, listen to music, think out loud, fix my makeup, smoke, etc. It's always stressful being stuck in traffic. Usually, the places I'm going, take about 15 minutes (like work and back) but with traffic, that can easily turn into 45 minutes to an hour. I try to listen to the radio for traffic updates (or check on my phone) to try to take a detour if traffic is really backed up..But it doesn't always work like that of course!

Traffic is an every day thing here and so being stuck in traffic is a no biggie for me already. Since I already know that traffic is a given, I make amends by trying my best to push all my efforts to stay on the fastest lane plus smart driving is all we need.

It is really terrible being in traffic especially for hours and it is worse when you are the one driving. I have been in traffic for as long as 4 hrs and usually, when I go out with a book to read cause you never know when this could happen.

hi becdmd,
In Kuala Lumpur, stuck in traffic jam are a normal or should i say part of our life. That's the problem living in a city where millions of people crammed in a place.
As for me,just to kill the time during the will be listening to radio or cds.Save all the local radio stations in your player so you can scan around for some good music or some traffic report(if there's one).Stock up some of your favorite cds as well as back up.Played it loud and sing along it.
Get some junk food & drinking water to accompany you.Hey everyone cheer up cos' i got some sweets here.
