I just Have to Show you these Christmas Lights!

I know Im a weeks or so late with Christmas discussions, but I only just downloaded my photos of Christmas Lights.
I am so pleased with how some turned out.
My favourite is probably the Nativity display, which I will show here.
I may be able to show more in any replies to responses (if I get any).
Every day the homes in Adelaide have a Christmas Light Competition. Although we set up six set of lights this year, we didnt eneter the competition.
There is a home fairly near us that has an outstanding display.

It is a beautiful display of a nativity scene. I like it when people include the real meaning of Chrisatmas in their lights display.

How big is the reindeer light display?

Good question. If I recall, the reindeer display is about 8 metres. The house that displayed had a lot of other lights as well.

Your lights are very pretty. You should have entered the competition. Did the home near your win the contest? Some people haven't had their Christmas yet so I don't think your too late with a discussion about lights.

The lights near my home did win, they often do and someone has put them in a book.
Our lights arent anywhere near the standard required for the competition.

We have competitions for the best lights also. They print a picture of the winning house in the local paper. Some people go all out just to win. I'm not sure if they get anything for winning or not. I love to see all the displays. My favorites are the all clear lights.

Very nice so far. Seen more added and will look at those soon as well.
We have some homes in our area that have 10,000 and more. Can you imagine their electric bill each year for that?

Yes, I can imagine the electricity bill. People here who do the really big displays mention the huge bill, often thousands of $. Some have a voluntary donation box to help pay their bill.
Bianca loves these lights, and thats why she set up 6 light displays herself. She wanted to climb up on the roof to put up a huge merry christmas sign/light, but I wouldnt let her.
She has big plans for next year.
One problem many of us have with light displays, is that people steal items.
Some light displays are so big, that the police need to patrol.

I dont mind at all if some people dont celebrate Christmas. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs. I just like to shate the pretty lights.

dear jenny bianca,
the cheers that Christmas lights bring to one home is so wonderful. the Nativity too will complete the spirit that Christmas brings. We dont have contests like you do there, but i wish we had.

Wow these are awesome lights that you have set up. That is a very cool competititon. Hope we can come up with such competititon here in my country as well.
