For me, I would want to have a job and help my hubby with earning money for the family. Times are hard and we need to help each other out. I think what's important here is that you should know how to manage your time. Work for the usual 8 hours a day then divide the rest of the time for your family and home.

For me, I would prefer to work from home if I have kids. However, if you choose to work in an office, I guess it would be better if you have flexible working hours so that you still can have time with your family. I guess everyone have different opinions and it all depends on what you really want in life. I believe time management is really important when it comes to working and taking care of your family at the same time.

Hi marketing, I too feel in this way my dear if staying alone at home without any interesting things to do. It’s true that we would feel lonely when the husband is leaving for work and the kids have gone to school. I like to have companion at home and I would feel happy to do the same monotonous daily routines at home if there is someone to talk with
Nowadays I’m glad that I have got two part time jobs. Therefore I spend a couple of hours working outside four days a week. Stay away from home for three hours or so won’t affect me to take care of my family for sure. After signing up as myLot member I enjoy reading and writing posts here on and off while doing household chores. Besides getting the extraneous income, these really make my daily life diversified and full of joy and fun as well. Hopefully you will find a desirable job or other interesting things to do so that you won't feel bad anymore
Take care and happy posting

my wife works in other country and im a full time househusband. i watch over my kids everyday. its really making me bored sometimes. i would want to go back to work but having a child with special needs make things not that easy coz i cant just leave her to anyone available and uneducated about her case. it will only make things worst for sure. although if there is an opportunity to work at home, much better. right now i have no other choice but to stay with my kids. we have plans of putting up a business so my wife wont be needing to work far from us. happy mylotting marketing07

I don't know how to choose either if i am in your situation. But what i will do is that i will look for some work that i can do it at home. Like those handmade stuff that we can finish at home, and then when it's about time to cook, i can stop the work and cook, then have dinner with family, watch TV with kids, play with them for a little bit, and the work can be saving to do it tomorrow.
I know it might not be easy to find that kind of work, but if you look for it, you will find it. Good Luck!

HI, you said you have two children right? I have 2 and my 5 years old go to school and my 2 is still in day care. I also work, but I have to make my time worth for my family. I love them so much and I prefer to wake up really early to go to work and able to pick my 5 year old and my 2 and able to cook and clean the house as well. each day i make up my own schedule to run my daily basic. If I really tired then I have to wait for weekend to clean up my house... but about food, I always cook for them.
I think you work only part time then you have a lot time to do your schedule... I work from 5am to 2pm and start again 5pm-9pm.

Ok I too had two girls to raise but I had to work. I worked for 32 years and now I find myself without a job for the past year in a half. I take care of my granddaughter while her parents go to work. I'm also taking a writing course. I do keep busy because that is the type of person I am. I need to be busy all the time. However, as much as I would have loved to be home while my girls were growing up I know I would have went crazy with boredom. So I would say I would rather be working a full time job out of the house. Unless there was of course a great job working from home paying good money, but that never really happens. I guess once you have worked for 32 years its hard to accept that your not working and its also very scary. If I was 62 years old I wouldn't care to much but at 53 years old its a very scary wondering when or who would want to hire me at my age.

There are two sides to these two choices. At work, we are exposed to a life outside of home, which means that we are able to interact and improve on our social skills. However, it also means that we meet all kinds of people, and some days, we just wish that we can avoid rude and insensitive people at any cost.
Staying at home gives one a lot of personal time, and a chance to work and play at one's own pace. However, this also means that one does not break out of routines and expectation produced from interaction with multiple acquaintances.
One man's cup of tea is not necessarily others'. I prefer staying at home. I am the type who are alright with socializing, and as well as having my time to myself within the four walls of my home. I have enjoyed both, but I personally feel that I rest better when I am alone. I enjoy my 'alone' time.

Have you looked for a job, which could be executed at home ?
That is what i want as well. You can look after your family, at the same time you will not miss your career. But i supposed such kind of job is quite limited. You can think about it.

I am very glad to see you are back. It seems you have been away from Mylot for a long time. In fact I prefer to stay at home as I can have plenty of free time to do what I like. And I think perhaps I can take good care of my family. But the disadvantage is I may feel bored to be alone at home sometimes. And if my friends have their own careers, it seems I will be outdated since I don't have a contact with the society. And the income will decrease since I don't work. So currently I have to go to work. As it is easy to stay at home rather than finding a good job:)
I love China

Well, I am a stay at home mother at this point in my life. I wouldn't change anything about the life that I have right now. My son is home with me during the day and four days a week I have my three-year-old and one-year-old niece with me as well so I don't have time to be bored. I think that when the time comes that my son is in school I will probably find a part time job outside the house. However, I still have another two years before that time will come.

Given a chance, I will prefer to work at home because the comfort is there. Plus you save yourself the hassle of commuting, and the expensive gas money, not to mention the maintenance of your car. Another thing you can save money because you don't have to eat out and spend a hefty amount of cash over fast food chains and restaurants. One thing too is you save detergent and water because you don't change clothes that often as compared to working outside. The best part of working at home is you take hold of your time. That is you can start your work at your own time and you don't have to clock-in or clock-out inside an office. You also save yourself the angst over a very rude boss. In fact you don't have to work with somebody you don't even like, which is pretty cool. The bad thing about working at home is you get to spend a lot on elecricity because you can be hooked online with your computer for almont 18-20 hours straight. Plus you may have no socializing skills because you work alone without any co-workers around. It's same like your shutting yourself from the world. Have you watched the movie "The Net" starred by Sandra Bullock? yes this is an old film but that can be an example of somebody working at home online...everything she relied on the internet, even her groceries and bills. Not a healthy lifestyle perhaps. One bad thing about working at home online is you earn slow, there are I guess only few fortunate ones who earn a lot here. In this manner, I do hope some of these people could share their tips on how to really earn big online.
