When you were younger, were you courageous enough to get a tattoo? Were you sorry later on that you got the tattoo, or were you okay with it as you got older? If you
were very young, did your parents hit the roof?

...Hi there tayd88, Welcome to the ranch, enjoy youraself. Happy 2010. You make me laugh, which is a good thing. "o) Your favorite band's logo is a safe tattoo, putting a girlfriend's or boyfriend's name on your body, not so safe. Ask Johnny Depp. I think you and your spouse should have a happy marriage, just remember to try to listen to each other. Take good care.

i got a tattoo when i was 19 and im now 20. still havent had it for very long, but i love it. It has a good message and i wear that good message on my wrist everyday. It is the word smile with a smiley face beside it. Every body that sees it likes it and it makes them smile.

...Hi Ambitiouslyleiah, Happy 2010. That is where you want to be with things that you have done in the past, especially a tattoo. But your tattoo is one that makes people happy, not a message of some kind or whatever. That is cute. People I think, have the right, as long as they are of majority age, to do what makes them happy, as long, I feel, as they are not hurting anyone else. Thanks for your response. Take good care. Smiling is a very good thing.

...Hi there enola, Happy 2010 to you and to your family. The fact that you waited, tells me that you knew what you wanted and would probably not regret getting a tattoo. As I mentioned to another lady who had gotten a tattoo on her ankle, I think it is a bit exotic to have a small tattoo on your ankle as a woman. There is a little mystery there, that makes for interesting conversation with the opposite gender. :o). Thanks for your response and take very good care.

Hi artistry, what on earth is courageous about getting a tatoo? I think it is very foolish to get a drawing put on your body and being stuck with it for life. I don't like them at all and actually they aren't something one sees on Greek men at all which is a refreshing change.

..Hi thea, I was under the impression that if someone uses a needle on your body to imprint something that cannot be removed in some cases, for me if you say needle, that would mean pain, That would require courage on my part. Someone said that people who get them, say it is painless. So if that is truly the case, then my courageous pain point goes out the window. But on another front, it does take some courage to have something on your body that a lot of people think is not very conformative in some societies. You get, as some who have them already attested to, criticised for being anti this and anti that, so yes you have to be a bit courageous to get a tattoo in my opinion. Thanks for your response, and oh yes, good for the Greek men.

No I do not have a tattoo and do not want one. I do not like needles so I will never be getting myself a tattoo.

...Hi there happy, We are in the same camp, I hate needles as well. But during this discussion, someone mentioned that people who they knew, who had gotten tattoos, said that they were painless. I find that hard to believe, and think that someone who really wanted to get a tattoo, would feel less pain than someone else.
Some discreet tattoos are okay, really if a tattoo is what a person wants, that is find, but something that is going to be on your body permanently, had better be thought about long and hard. Take good care. Thanks for your thoughts.

...Hi there lostsouls, Welcome to the ranch, enjoy, it's a fun place to be. Happy 2010. That is a good place to be, satisfied with what you did regarding your tattoos. I think that is a neat thing. Someone else had said that they got their tattoo when they were in one of the happiest periods of their lives. I think that a reminder of a phase like that, should be done as you like it done. Thanks very much for your response. Take care.

When I was a teenager I got a tattoo that I have regretted for most of my years since. It was a 13 above the letters FW. It was supposed to say FTW (screw the world) but at the last minute I changed it so that it was just FW, my initials. It was a homemade tat, done with a straight pin and it hurt like hell getting it done. I had to stuff my mouth with Kleenex so that my friends mother, sitting in the next room, wouldn't hear me screaming.
As I became an adult and working for a living I realized that not many employers shared my philosophical view of being a non conformist and a "people hater". I also got very tired of people asking me if I smoked pot (the 13) or was antisocial. I learned to love long sleeve shirts that covered up my arm and that silly tattoo
Oh yes, my mother hit the roof when she discovered it. I don't think I have ever been kicked as hard as when she saw the tattoo and immediately kicked me with all the fury her Irish temper could muster

....Hi there fwidman, I am sitting here feeling the pain from your mother's foot. :o) But also from the straight pin. Ouch! When we are growing up, we are trying to find out what the world is really all about, and the answers were not always there for us. Couple that with raging hormones, and I think all teenagers do well to reach adulthood, in as good shape as they do, growing up is painful. Thank goodness for long sleeved shirts. Look at the some of the outspoken individuals of the sixties, they became part of the establishment, when they realized you need money and some stability to take care of your basic needs in this world. It takes time for all of us to find answers to our questions. Thanks for sharing an interesting story. Take care.

I have a tattoo and I don't regret at all. It's of an aum symbol which is a Tibetan symbol for God and is also the noise that created the universe. Lots of Tibetans have this symbol on there body to help improve cosmic vibrations while meditating. I am very proud of this tattoo and will never regret because it actually means something to me.

...Hi jambi462, That decision was made probably when you were old enough to know
that your faith was very important to you. Faith is a very strong conviction for most people, and as such I am sure there would be no regret on your part for having this symbol on your body for positive forces to be drawn to you. Thank you so much for sharing a very interesting response.
Take care. Happy 2010.

I got mine when I was 28. My one and only Tat. 28 was MY year to shine. I looked amazing. I felt invincible. I was ready to grab the world by the balls and swing....I jumped off cliffs and train trestles & out of planes. I lived on a tropical island, I skied insane vertical drops....I got a tattoo...I still love her and everything she represents about my life. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. My mother had a conniption. She got passed it.

...Hi there JodiLynn, That was a special time for you and something that captures that time and reminds you of the pleasure you had is well worth it. I must say, you were one daredevil on a mission, were you challenging yourself or going for the experiences to have the memories? Sounds like a lot of fun. Parents have to be parents. My dad got totally crazy when I put a streak in the front of my hair. Take it out or suffer the consequences. Thanks so much for sharing a very interesting part of your life. Take care.

Yeah, I have a small tattoo on my left ankle that I got years and years before tattoos became as popular as they are now. In fact, when I got mine, the guy in the tattoo parlour was a little shook up because he had never done a tattoo on a women before me.
Was I courageous? Nah, just a rebel before my time I guess (gosh, that sounds good, I'm gonna stick with that one).
Do I regret it? Nope, never have and never will. It is small and unobrusive and easily covered up when I needed to venture into the corporate world.

...Hi there malamar, There's something a bit exotic about a tattoo on a woman's ankle. I think that it would make men think that she would have a daring strek and would be someone very interesting to get to know. Even the tatoo artist was a bit taken bak as it was out of the norm. As for being a rebel before your time, I think that is part of the courageous thing. I'll bet you went on to do a lot of things that took guts to do and fairly well succeeded unless I miss my guess? As they told us when we graduated high school, many years ago, the world is a cold place. I think you need a little rebel in you to make it.
Take care.

I do not have tattoo in my body parts. I feel frighten of the needles being used even they say it is painless. Some of my peers who got tattoo in their body. Have been dismayed because they cannot anymore remove them. The mark is their already. My parents see it as putting dirt in skin. Well, that is their opinion because of their generation is totally different from ours.

..Hi Genericbe, Happy 2010. You say they say it is not painless to have it done, then I must be under the wrong impression. Thanks for that information. I still would not be interested in a tattoo, the fact that your mind changes from day to day tells me that it would not be a great idea for me to have it on my body. Especially when I cannot wash it off. :o). Thanks so much for yur response. Take care.
