Bruce Lee's teacher named Yip Man. He taught Bruce Kung Fu, particularly Wing Chun kung fu. As Bruce study and trained this disciplined, he found a way to develop and modify it by combining different forms of discipline. He discarded techniques which are useless and applied the effective ones. Western boxing, fencing, and judo to name a few of the disciplines. As his innovative art evolved. He called it Jeet Kune Do, the way of the intercepting fist and is the origin of the modern day mixed martial arts.

it's full of errors just what like Bruce Lee wants for the public to believe for...
actually, Bruce Lee did not finish the entire sequence of Wing Chun...
Yip Man taught Bruce Lee the art of Wing Chun for self-defense only
although Wing Chun is actually not a Self-Defense but it's a Self-Offense type of KungFu...
and it so happens that Bruce Lee is a movie actor, he could not use Wing Chun unto his movies because the Chinese Communities will not accept it, truly Chinese Martial Arts must be kept secret always, and not to implement to the public....
as the public only practicing Karate, Judo, Boxing, etc.. except Kung Fu....
in order to make his name more famous, he invented JEET KUNE DO, and make it patented and the public is getting more dizzy on what art is it....
as you may notice.... without the elements of Wing Chun, this Jeet Kune Do is very useless....
and to make the story short:
Bruce Lee's actual street fighting art is WING CHUN
while....
Bruce Lee's movie martial art is JEET KUNE DO
have you ever wonder why:
when Bruce Lee practicing Kung Fu KICK AS LOW AS YOU CAN
while....
when Bruce Lee perform Kung Fu in movies KICK AS HIGH AS YOU CAN
why?
and the only answer is to make the movie more tastier.... it's all about money, fame, and fortune.....
thus, degrading the art of Kung Fu....

and even the public people before and even up to now is ignorant about Kung Fu....
whenever the public people see anyone practicing TAE KWON DO they immediately called it TAE KWON DO... correct!!! it seems that public people doesn't know KungFu
but...
whenever the public people see anyone practicing KARATE they immediately called it KARATE... correct again!!!! truly the public people doesn't know Kung Fu...
and....
whenever the public people see anyone practicing KUNG FU they immediately called it KARATE...
see how ignorant it is???

correction:
if you Mention China, i think Kung Fu is not accurate to address it.....
Wu Shu is the correct term if you use the word "China"
Wu Shu meaning: National Art or War Art or Combined Art
if America, then you can now use Kung Fu...
Kung Fu meaning: Ability or to make it shorten, meaning: Skill
Kok Sut (Amoy) is a term used in Manila China town, particularly if it is a non-commercialized Chinese Martial Fighting Arts....
Kou Shu is a (Mandarin) term for Kok Sut or non-commercialized Chinese Martial Arts
whereas: Kok Sut or Kou Shu is the most nearest to signify Chinese Martial Arts
Wu Shu is a watered-down Chinese Martial Arts
Wu Shu is still a term used in Manila China town if the Chinese Martial Arts is a Communist in origin....
others used the term as San Da or Chinese Fist Fighting....

Most agreed that it was Yip Mun, the grand Master of Wing Chun style who influenced Bruce Lee during his teen years, but I believe his father , Lee Hoi Chuan , also helped to inculcate some aspects of other styles like taiji Chuan cability. From the Opera Group of actors, Bruce Lee might have heard a lot of stories about some other styles inherited by those opera actors managed by his father. Later, Bruce Lee searched to experiment his arts improvement and fighting skills with other masters from Jujitsu, Karate, TaeWondo etc, whilst in USA.
As to legend on the founder of Wing Chun, some sources said it was the nun teacher ,NG MUI,of her pupil , Yim Wing Chun, who not being able to find an appropriate name for the new style during her lifetime, decided to name it after her pupil Yim Wing Chun.
Probably, it was from Yim Wing Chun, who passed the art to posterity.

Bruce Lee is not the first to teach Wing Chun by Yip Man....
it happens that Bruce Lee is a Movie Actor, and the Chinese Community hate him because Bruce Lee expose the art of Wing Chun to the public especially to the enemy, the Americans.....
whereas, Kung Fu should be teach only to the Chinese Blood....
let the Foreigners learn only KARATE but not KUNG FU.....
Karate is already introduced to the public ever since before time....
while....
Kung Fu is kept secret and hidden to the public...

The teacher of Bruce Lee was Yip Man. I am not sure who the first person to teach Wing Chun Gung Fu was but Yip man was definitely Bruce's teacher. You can find a couple videos of Yip Man on youtube somewhere. I hope that helped.
