How do you feel about artificial sweetners vs regular sugars? They say regular is better for you yet they say artifical is a way to help you loose wight. They negative to sweetners is cancerous and reguar is that if consumed to much it can make you fat. They have to postive and negative, but to think reguar whith moderation can give you an ok ballance so you decide.

I agree with what the person above said 100%. I don't see anything wrong with using natural regular old sugar all the time as a sweetener. I mean yea it could make you gain weight if you eat too much and exercise too little, but I think that in the long wrong getting cancer from artificial sugar is much worse. I really don't think it's that hard to maintain a healthy weight while eating things with regular sugar all the time. Plus artificial sugar doesn't give as much of a nice taste as regular sugar does.

Both in moderation are fine for you, in my humble opinion. Like anything in life, too much of either can do serious damage, but as long as you are responsible and don't be greedy, I don't see why any health problems should occur.

I personally will not touch any of the artificial sweeteners. The reason for this is that artificial sweeteners have always given me a headache. Therefore, I chose not to consume any of them. I am not, however, this diligent with natural sugar. I have always been able to consume natural sugar as long as I am able to do it in moderation. Do I think that consuming natural sugar makes it impossible for me lose weight? No, I honestly don't because I was able to lose 25 pounds last year without cutting natural sugar out of my diet.

Artificial sweeteners are popular to use. For me, I still prefer to use regular sugar. Nothing can compare to the real thing.

i think for this two type of sugar they have pros & cons, so the best think is to use them in strict moderation...try use honey, more healthy that the two...

Hi merie13. Preferably regular but I have used artificial at times. Overdoing on either one is bad. I forget which artificial sweetener it is, but one has a tendency to promote hemorhoids. And I found that out to be true about ten years ago in soda. I would think it is best to stay away from the artificial as much as possible.

If one needs a sweetener, sugar is probably safer for most people. I've become accustomed to drinking coffee without any sweetener. I can also heat cereal without sweetener.

I agree. If you keep it in moderation, there should not be any problems using either. I think sweeteners get so much controversy because of aspartame. It is said that it can cause health risks.

I prefer regular sugar. I love the taste of regular sugar. Artifical sweetners don't even taste the same and have a bad after taste. I love my sugar. I eat stuff with sugar in it everyday. I think most people do. I did not know that artifical sugar can cause cancer. Thanks for the heads up! I definetley don't want cancer!

I think that sugar is the best tasting sweetner. You can buy organic raw sugar that is not bleached to white which would also have health benefits. There is also a natural plant sweetner from the Stevia plant. It is a no calorie sweetner that is not a chemical. I have seen this product come in portion packed envelopes or in a resealable bag that comes with a tiny measuring scoop. Hope that this helps.
