Are you now what you have wanted to become when you were a kid?

When I was younger, I always thought of joining the military. I have had posters of fighter jets and battle ships in my room. That was what I really wanted. But my parents did not want me to go to military school. I took up a business course when I was in college which is totally not my cup of tea. Well, yeah, at least that was before. After graduation, I started teaching in the university where I have graduated from.
So now, I am teaching in a university while working hard to run a couple of businesses.
Was this what I wanted to become when I was still a kid? NO. But I must say that I am happy.

Hi dolce_vita78 .
Nope. I wanted to be a research chemist. But, because of sin, I turned out as an academic failure. Could not get to college.
But then I committed my life to Christ in 1970. God then called me to the ministry. Now I do His chemistry.

The only question that I had during my younger years is that " How long should I stay in this situation, wherein I am deprived of everything. How soon someone find me and lift me here? " I struggled hard, I worked and live part of my way. Its not that easy to take another road wherein your all alone. But then, on my way taking this road that I had chosen, someone found me and took me out of the dark. Now, I am who I wanted to become, and that is to be the person who will be able to at least help my family in some ways and specially my nephews and niece for their education. I have nothing to ask more. Thank God for letting me cross the road of to John W.

I had kept changing my mind every few months about what I wanted to become. Finally I gave up thinking about it because I was an adopted kid and I knew there was no one to fund me for my education to pursue my goals. So I just sort of took one day at a time and let things happen to me.

when i was a kid i dream to be a doctor, even when i graduated high school i put in my yer book that my dream is to be a doctor. and i also plan to enroll in a medical school. and without knowing of my parents i took an entrance exam for that school and i was so happy that time because i made it. but the reality is my parents cant afford me to enroll in a medical school of even to take a course in any medical course. so i ended up to take a business administration course. but i make sure that my parents allowed me to enroll in a university that wearing a full white uniform. hehehehhe

Honestly I don't recall wanting to really be anything when I was a kid except grown up! So I guess I accomplished that. I always imagined myself working a lot, as I had my first job the day after my 14th birthday the first day I was legally allowed to work... then I got really ill and now I can't work in the Public anymore so I do my best with what I can do from home. Honestly it probably was the best thing to ever happen to me as I would not be married to the wonderful man I am married to today if it was not for that. I was a work-a-holic when he met me.

I wanted to be a lot of things when I was growing up. I wanted to be a teacher, a vet, a doctor a nurse and the list just goes on and on. I ended up going to school to become a teacher and that is currently what I am doing. I'm working at a preschool which is what I decided upon doing a few years ago in highschool and I love it. I'm glad I chose it as my choice. However, that is not saying at some point I'm not going to change my mind and do something else but right now I'm content.

...Hi dolce_vita78, Happy 2010. The only thing that I remember wanting to do when I grew up, because someone asked me, was to attend the University of Michigan. I guess because I liked the sound of the name of the school. Did not get to attend the University of Michigan, but did attend the University of Pennsylvania, graduated from somewhere else, but was happy for realizing my little goal. My professional career was spent mostly as a Federal Bank Examiner, which was never ever in my mind growing up. I drew a lot when I was younger, and as an adult I have had a few successful art shows, which gave me great pleasure as an accomplishment. Hope to sell my art overseas in the future and possibly have my own art gallery. Take care.

No dear I wanted to become ............(it's secrete) .
But I adopted the philosophy that ,
"Try your 100% to get what you like, else you will be forced to like what you got"
Now I always try 100% to get what I want. But I was not this much wise when I was a kind so I missed to become what I dreamed.

I can say that I'm still what I was as a kid - just a dreamer!
But I also can say that I'm almost what I wanted to be as a kid. I remember going to church with my grandmother. At that time I wanted to be priest :) Really, no joke! I was looking at his clothes, listening to any word he sings or speaks, wondering what a great person is the priest. The people were knelling down and kissing his hands - being a priest was really what I wanted to be. Now I'm a musician. To be precise, singer - songwriter. Well, not a priest, but a singer. It's close, isn't it :) So I can say I'm what I didn't realize that want to be when I was a kid.

When I was 6 I wanted to be a Farmer. I began by helping my father farm when I was 15. Now at 76 I am still farming, and still loving it. At different periods of my life I took off-the-farm work, but I never stopped farming. I've farmed beef cattle, small fruit, and Honey Bees. At this time I have 400 colonies of bees in Ontario Canada.

I always wanted to be a Lancaster bomber pilot but Lancaster's had been phased out by the time that I was old enough to join up. I did work for 31 years with the military instead and did a fair amount of flying as a passenger, mostly in helicopters. I'd LOVE to be a university teacher now - bit when I was in my twenties it would have turned me off completely. I had a very varied career doing things that most don't get a chance to and can't complain. Now I am a tour guide and that is fantastic too.

When I was growing up, all I wanted to be was a doctor. My mum made me some surgical scrubs and I had a first aid kit that I loved. I still wanted to be a doctor when I was in high school and I chose all the subjects that I did based on what is required for entry in to medical school. Unfortunately , I am now living on disability and I never got to fulfil my dream. It is something that I think about often and it makes me a little sad.

umm..not really, but I think in time I will fulfill my dreams when I was younger. When I was a child I really wanted to be a doctor or lawyer, a common dream for most of my friends also, but as I grow older I my views had changed. I wanted to become a psychiatrist, publish a book and have my own business. Well I graduated with the degree in Psychology, it's a stepping stone to becoming a psychiatrist, but I think i won't be pursuing it. Anyway my dream of publishing my own book and a business, I think in time i will achieve. I'm have now a small business although it is still new and small, i'm planning to make it big. for writing my own book I also think that it is now within my reach, because I'm doing some article writing and web content now, for me, its a start of achieving my childhood dreams.
