you can opt for c++, java or unix. these will help you alot in the later stage of life if you are planning to go for engineering or working in the computer field.

how about learning programming? its cool and you get to create something far away from the kitchen :D

This all depends on what you are interested in in terms of computers. If you want to learn about computer maintenance and installation then I would recommend you take a course like A+, I did this course myself and I'm now a qualified IT Technician. This involves you learning everything there is to know about the inside of a computer, it's hardware components etc. It's also great in that it teaches you how to deal with computer problems. You may want to learn about website design and that's another course you can do. You may want to try your hand at programming in which case you would have to learn a programming language like visual basic, c++, Java etc. I think the first course of action for you would be to arrange some kind of interview at your local college and speak to someone from the IT deptartment. What do you want to do? Do you want to make games? create images/visuals? Be a web programmer? database designer? IT technician? You still need to decide about this. But if you want to be a programmer then take computer science.
