My desk at home is full of supplies from the office. I have post-its, pens, blank CDs, stapler.. But this is because sometimes I work at home. Okay, not a good excuse. Well when I got hired, they didn't tell me that employees shouldn't take them home. How about you, do you take office supplies home?

My mother works at a restaurant and she often takes home food that are leftover. Sometimes, she doesn't even have to buy anything for dinner and we'll just eat the food she bought home. The restaurant would have thrown that food away anyways so she doesn't feel really guilty about it.

I know what you mean, I worked in a fast food chain once. I can't understand why they don't allow the employees to take home the leftover food during closing time. They just ask us to throw them away, and if anyone gets caught bringing home those that are meant to be thrown away, they get fired.

I have a pen in my pocket which I got from my previous job. I had to walk around the floor with a pen in my pocket then. When I quit that job, I never realized that the pen was still in my pocket. That was almost 4 years ago. I still carry the pen in my pocket in my current job.
Therefore, except for this pen, I try not to take home office supplies.

No, I dont take office supplies because I also own stapler, scissor, cutter, color pens, stationary and etc. at home. For me these school supplies are neccessity to own. I love making crafts and designs so I need to own these things. I even have pencil for my drawings, eraser, ruler, photopapers for photo printing.

Greetings nocturn98.
If one does it because they do some of their work at home it probably is ok if you 1.) use if for your work, 2,) you have not deprived another employee the use of an item when they need it (like, was there another stapler there to use, and 3.) and you will return the items when you have no further need of them. It would also be good to let your supervisor know, otherwise, why be thought of as a thief.
When I worked for the local newspaper, I did bring like a CD home but my superiors knew about it.
Now, if you would just like to get stuff, then get things when they are discarded. I have reporter notebooks here that were partly used, then thrown in the trash. Have no idea why people do things like that.
