i dropped my cellphone today, and it's black now. so i have no way to get the numbers out unless i change a new cellphone. so bad.
i only know a few numbers from it by heart. such as brother's, aunt's, some new best friends', mostly, i have no idea. maybe next time i need to prepare for a notebook to write the numbers down.
how abt u, how many numbers do u know by heart? do u keep them in a notebook, or only store them in the cellphone?

Oh yolanda, what a pity to know that you have lost all the phone numbers of your loved ones, relatives as well as your good friends. Don't be sad my dear, you can take out the simcard of the cell phone and then insert it to someone's cell phone to display the all the phone number. In this way you can jot down the numbers you wish.
Of course to write down all the phone numbers in a memo as a backup is the best way to trace them in case facing such problem again, or lost our cell phone. For the sake of safety, I have kept all the important phone numbers in my laptop as well as the external hard drive. I'm quite dependent on the cell phone name list so I can remember the phone numbers of my loved ones, siblings and some good friends only.
Have a nice day and happy posting

I understand that without a cell phone is really inconvenient for us if we want to keep in touch with our close and near ones as well as our friends too. I hope you have got another brand new cell phone now. Yeah, after copying all the particulars to the new device you then can contact anyone you wish easily at anytime Take good care of your new cell phone my dear. Good luck

really what a pity, i not only stored the numbers in the simcard, but also some in the phone machine. so the ones in the machine cant be taken out now.
in a word, i must be careful next time, i'd better to keep then down in a notebook, i think.

Hi Yolanda,
The only cellphone number i know from my cellphone is my husband's number. Of course i know my own number. i am very dependent on my phonebook. i don't want to stress myself in memorizing their numbers hehehehehe.

i think i was really near crazy when the first time i lost my cellphone on the bus. that was my first cellphone, and i bought it when i was in the university. but after that, i still have not learned from it, cause i have no backup.

yes we really need to do it. at the same time i encourage us to keep a back up of all the numbers that we have in our cellphone. just to make sure you'll not be crazy if by chance you lost your phone.

Ha ha ha... Ok, ok... I know 3 numbers by heart, including my own. I don't know what phone you have but I have blackberry & it comes with a software called, "desktop manager". It allows people to back up phone content on to the computer. Also, in an email program on computers, such as outlook express, you can save contact informations on it.

i am so sorry to hear that .may be you should note your cellphone number down on your online phone book.it will be more securious than write them down on your notebook.because your notebook can be lost too.
it's just my own view.it's hoped to helpful to you

hmm, it's really helpful.

Oh, so sad to hear that. Previously, I have copied all the numbers (like 100+ of them) in my cellphone to my notebook, only to lose it anyway(due to misplacement). And now that the technology is so advanced that as long as we do not lost our SIM card, all the numbers stored within the card can be transferred to another cellphone, I don't even remembered my boyfriend's cellphone number. Right now, I only remember by heart my home number, my mom and my sis cellphone number and that's about it.

i think maybe u can try to remember ur bf's phone number, maybe though he calls u all the time.
sometimes i store the numbers in the phone, not in the SIM card, much worse, right?

i dont want to repair it again. maybe i can get the numbers online by other ways. now, i'm planning to buy a new one.
well, if u call ur bf as much as possible, then u'll remember it easily. such as the customers' numbers, because i always call them, then i can remember a lot of their numbers now.

Last time I remembered my bf's number but he changed the number so I am trying hard to remember the new one (still trying). And yes, it's really something discouraging that the number is in the phone (which some of my friends' number I forgot to store them into my SIM and when I changed phone, their numbers are lost). Hope that you will be able to recover the numbers in your phone after repairs.

Hi yolanda,
I don’t think people are remembering the numbers in their mobile set. Like you I can remember only few numbers and I too don’t have the habit of making diary for keeping the numbers. Earlier I had the habit and still that small diary is with me but I am not adding the new numbers to it and just adding it on my mobile set. You have done a good thing by sharing your problem because we also will be on alert after reading this post. It is good to keep a phone diary to avoid the loss of important numbers in future. Thank you very much.

Well, I only memorized one number on my cellular phone. Its the number of my wife. I did not basically took much effort to memorize it. Its just so happens that I call it often and eventually was able to memorize it. I do keep a copy of all the numbers on my phone since my phone is synchronized with my laptop. Just in case my phone gets lost or the sim card is lost, I have a back up copy of my contacts on my computer.

now that ur phone is synchronized with ur laptop, so it's much more convenient to keep a backup. but my old one, it's a old version, cant connect with my laptop.

My goodness I know what you mean! I have a cordless phone and have put all of my numbers in my phone. In the past when I had a regular 'corded' phone it was nothing to remember most of my phone numbers. I would be in a real pickle if I lost all of my phone numbers. What I should do is back up all those numbers somewhere on my computer or an address book.
Technology has it's advantages, but, at the same time it's making us very lazy! LOL!
I hope that you are somehow able to retrieve all those numbers of yours.

u'r very right. Technology has it's advantages, but, at the same time it has its disadvantages. such as making us very lazy, sometimes, what's more, it even destroys the human life, and so on.

I'll admit that I don't even know my own cell phone number, let alone the contacts I have stored in there. If I lost (or had it stolen) or broke my phone, or changed networks, I'd lose all contact info. I figure the really important ones will try to get in touch with me some other way. At least in the scenario of knowing my own number I can use the excuse that I don't call myself!

Yeah, thenieruz is right, we are of the same situation. I for one doesn't know my number and I would have to concentrate more and deeper to recall my number. What more for the hundreds of phones registered in my contact box. If I lost my phone, I don't know what to do next.

I'm usually pretty good at remembering numbers. so if it is a number that I call often I can remember it. But if it is someone that I don't call very often then I can't remember the whole thing. I try to keep all my numbers in more than one thing like my phone, my pda and my address book. that way if something ever happened to my phone i'd be okay.

Honestly, I only knew and memorized my own number. Have my cellphone number for more than 10 years now and its a shame for me if I cannot memorize it until now. lol. Funny, because I'm good at numbers but I never memorized any telephone numbers saved on my cell phone. But I have a list of all the numbers of my cell phone, so it will be no problem for me if ever something will happen to my phone. I hope now, you would do the same thing for future references.lol. Experience is the best teacher, learn from it.

I know 1 number in my phone by heart. Just my boyfriend's phone number. Unfortunately, I know all too well how bad it sucks to lose numbers by a messed up phone. It's happened to me quite a few times. Unfortunately, I havent learned my lesson. Still only store numbers in my phone.
Hmm.. maybe I SHOULD move them to a notebook or file on my computer or in my Microsoft office? I should, but most likely...I won't. lol I guess I have the theory that "OHHH that won't happen again", until something else messes my phone up.

my mom's, special friend, my 2 nos., my special friend's brother
i had memorized a few but i forgot.
before, i used to write the numbers on the notebook but now i dont. if i lost my phone then i have to ask for numbers again. coz sometimes the nos. that i have arent the phone nos. they are using anymore.

But in a situation like this it is safe to have a backup for our contact.
