before i was like you, but when i start having a german friend, for a short period of time, i was challenges to improved my english communication skill, so i start learning it again, but one thing i learned is you must have strong confidence, sometime you have grammar slip when you are talking face-to-face with foreign people buth if you have strong confidence it really doesn't matter..

You are scared because you don't have confidence in yourself that you can speak good English. If it's any consolation, often times, foreigners and even Americans, speak poor English or with wrong grammar. No harm in always trying. Practice makes perfect. Also, the fact that English is your second language, you should be proud that you know it because most people don't. Don't sell yourself short. Practice, practice, practice!

There has to be a way for you to hold practice conversations with people who speak English. Being afraid is to be expected. Good luck!!
