i've been using my laptop for a long time and ever since i got it i've been using a mouse. i dont often use the track pad because i'm too afraid that i would destroy it by sometimes forgetting that it's soft touch... i even have a silicon cover over the entire keyboard.. i guess my compulsions made my laptop last for a long time..

Hello greenishpurple me too am thinking of using an mouse with working on an laptop as its track pad is really delicate thing.Means am yet getting used to it, its more quicker than ordinary touch screens.Though currently am working on my PC with an wireless mouse, am going to buy one laptop in near future as my online earning increase. But still am trying to get going with the track pad of laptop, Hope would get along with it good or else will be using mouse with it.Anyways keep it up with your participation at mylot, Happy mylotting.

Most of the time, I prefer to use a mouse on my laptop. It is more conventient and faster. The track pad works perfectly but is very inconvenient when using microsoft office programs. I often have a silicon cover over the entire keyboard to protect dusk.

Hi greenishpurple, even though my laptop has this touch pad I still prefer to used a mouse. Why? I guess I used to it, and I can't really stand using my finger on the touch pad, it really gives me a hard time on it. By using a mouse it all convenient to me. Some times the main problem with touch pad is when my hand or fingers are wet I can't control the cursor, and I really don't want to be grounded.
I can tell its easy to used a desktop computer than a laptop, the convenience of laptop is you can used it anywhere you want even with the used of wireless internet. But above all a mouse for a laptop its all worth and we really badly need it for easy access.I like the infrared mouse or the optical mouse rather. I loved to bring an extra mouse when I bring my laptop somewhere, for emergency purpose I guess..

yeah, i use the mouse too.. i fortunately do not have sweaty palms... but i dont like to use the trackpad none the less.. i like the idea of just having to replace the mouse if ever i ruin it rather than having to repair the entire laptop....

I feel that it depends on the person if he is flexible in using the track pad then he can go with it, but some people will not feel comfortable using the track pad so they prefer using mouse instead of track pad. Me personally don't use any external mouse for my laptop i just use the default pad i feel it comfortable.

Yes, I still use a mouse for my laptop. I am just not really good at using the finger pointer on the laptop yet. My mouse is connected to the laptop but some of my friends have the wireless optical kind of mouse to use with their laptops. I think the mouse need to have battery for it to work though. So I will stick with my wired mouse.

I have always used a mouse when ive been on laptop. My reason is more about being able to control things better for working in graphics programs such as gimp and photoshop. I have better control over the curser and also it is much faster for me. Once my mouse broke and I had projects that needed to be done fast, it was horrible disabling feeling having to use the track pad, i couldnt get anything finished!

ahahahaha!!! i hear you.. having to use the trackpad while working with photoshop is a total nightmare!!! yes, i can manage work better if i use a mouse instead of the trackpad.. and i'm soooo paranoid that i might ruin the entire laptop just by pressing on the pad too much... it's easier and cheaper to get a new mouse rather than having to repair the entire laptop... thanks good2go2001!

Most of the time i do use the trackpad because it is so easy to scroll and go back and forward on internet browser. I have a macbook so there are a few cool little tricks to make it easier when using the trackpad. But i also have a mouse that i sometimes use. A while ago my wrist use to start aching i bit or something like that so i decided to get mouse, i still use that quite a lot too :)

Hi greenishpurple. Yes I have a mouse, but no, I don't use it often. I love using trackpad more. I use my mouse only for playing games. lol. And there's an article i read just a few days ago. It said the electro magnetic pulse a laser mouse transmit, can be dangerous to hour body. Since your hand full of very sensitive nerves. It can bring somekind of syndrome that i dont even ever hear.

i have heard of a CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME.. but i heard that you get that from using the keyboard... the part of the palm that rests on the keyboard is a very highly innervated area thus causing the syndrome.. but you get it with using the mouse too??? garsh! i should read on that! thanks for the information pedeadjie! happy mylotting!

When my laptop was my only computer I would usually have it on a desk in my room. When I use it their I always use my mouse. In the case that I would bring my laptop to school I would only use the pad because I don't want to have to carry a mouse everywhere when a pad is sufficient for short term use.

For short time use, I do not use my mouse on my laptop. But when I intend to use my laptop for quite a time, like the whole day or half day, then I use my mouse. It always depends on how long I use it since I feel more comfortable when there is a mouse. But I can easily manipulate even without using the mouse, probably because I am used to the track pad already.

Ever since I got this laptop I was not able to bring myself to buy a mouse for myself. I attempted a few times to buy one but never got the chance to because of certain things. If I we're to buy one, I would need a table when I am on my bed and that would add costs to just use a mouse for my laptop. Another reason would be, I want a specific mouse that costs a lot and I thought of buying the more nicer ones instead of buying some plain old working mouse for the sake of having one.

i hear you... good mouses (or do we call them mice?? ahahaha... anyway!) cost somewhat more than the cheapo alternatives, but they do last longer... and as for the bed-table thing... i actually use my trackpad when i'm working with my laptop on the bed, but then again that's not very often.. i usually work on the table... but i'm really afraid that i would destroy my trackpad and then have my entire laptop fixed just because i destroyed a little part of it.. just precautionary measures, if you know what i mean... thanks sublime03! happy mylotting!

Hi,
I use the track pad on my laptop, it's just easier for me and I enjoy using it more than I would a regular mouse attached to the laptop. I usually sit with it on my lap most of the time when I'm in the living room, watching tv so it's easier. Otherwise I'd have to see at a table or desk and I can't sit in one spot like that for too long lol. I love having a laptop more than when I had a desktop for the pure fact that it has the track pad, I use to think it was hard to use but it's not once you get the hang of it, it's like second nature. I'm always cleaning my laptop to make sure nothing gets in the track pad or keys, I take very good care of it, it's like my baby haha.
