What do you do with Left-over Foods?

When it comes to left-over foods, are you creative enough to save the food by making another recipe out of it or you just throw it away? With our unstable economy and low paying jobs we should be more frugal in handling money. One way to do this is by saving things which are worth saving. When I have left-over rice, I make fried rice. When I have left-over fried chicken I can make chicken sandwich spread. How about you, do you just throw lef-over foods?

I hate throwing away food. We never did that when I was a child, if we had left-overs my mother would either make something new of them or eat them (possibly for breakfast, meatballs, chocolate cake and coffee made an excellent breakfast for her :-) ). So when I have left-overs I'll either eat them as they are or heat them, or maybe use it in a salad or wok. My father never throws food away, but every now and then I do because things start to grow in his fridge :-)

Are you talking about molds? Molds can result to food poisoning. Same here, my mother is creative enough to make new recipe out of the original menu.

The last thing I found was potatoes that had got those long thingies they get when you're supposed to put them back in the earth to grow new potatoes. No idea what they are called in English, but they were about 7 cm long so they had been growing for quite some time.

Wow. I really admire people like you who exert extra effort to minimize waste. sad to say but i am not like that. i dont know how to cook so i dont spend a lot of time in the kitchen. The least i do is to eat the left over food again..yes! lol I guess that's the price for not being too creative with regards to food or not having a lot of patience around the kitchen. :(

I must admit that I did used to throw leftover food away. But in the last year things have changed in regard to watching money etc and so now I make use of absolutely everything. I actually think it is a good thing because I feel that I have earned an awful lot in the last year about being frugal.

No for me I'm very creative to do until it can't waste because if it is waste it can cause depreciation of your money the money today is hard to find I find ways to have no waste about food.

normally when i have left over foods i keep it and think of a way that it can still be eaten the next meal. so if ever i have rice i put it on top of the newly cooked rice or have it fried. for viands like fried fish or chicken, pork i will have it mix with vegetables or just simply set aside for the next meal. I never throw away foods because i always think of other people who have not eaten or have no food to eat. that is why i always told my children not to throw away foods and do not leave any food in the plates, that they should eat what they get.

Save the food most certainly if its salvageable. That's what we always do around here. Cooking on Monday through Thursday or Friday depending on the week. The weekend is leftover time. It saves a fair amount of money. Throwing foods if they can still be salvageable is not a good idea, as you might as well be throwing money away.

HI! I always make some new recipe and cook with the rest of the food. I never throw food away, because in my country it is something like taboo to throw your food away. You put it in the fridge or you gave it to the animals, but never throw it away!

It depends on how much left over food is actually there. Most of the time there isn't enough left over to make a second meal. So I normally get rid of it. Some of the food is saved so George can have a little something when he comes home from working a long day at work. Quite often when George comes home its easily ten at night or nine. He then has to go to bed so that he can go to work the next day. I don't make sit-down meals unless George has the day off.

i also prefer to have it stored in fridge and then make use of it in the next meal if and otherwise it gets rotten. As rotten food is injurious to health so I prefer to have good food if left then use it in some other way which is suitable.

Left over food goes to the fridge. It gets reheated for the next meal unless it has already gone bad. Sometimes it stays in the fridge for about 2 days if nobody wants to eat it again. After that, if nobody still wants it, the dog gets it
