me and my best friends are on for a decade effective this day, and i just couldn't be happier. we've been friend since we were in grade school, and even now in college we've managed to keep a friendship this long.
it wasn't that easy then. there came a point that we had to be busy with our own lives that eventually made the communication seem scarce, but we always make sure to always meet during special occasions like birthdays and some holidays that needs to be celebrated.
how about you guys? how long have you been with your best friends? and what did you do to keep it that long? :)

It's very short, less than a year. I have several great friends from high school to college, but we don't keep in touch since we separated. And also, I am going to resign at the end of Chinese New Year. Me and my best friend will separate too. Maybe we will keep in touch after separation.
Best wishes for you!

I don't know. People are busy and I don't like talking to them when we are in different cities. I don't like that feelings. It's weird. I'd like to talk to people who is around. That is why I don't log in QQ very often. By the way, QQ is a Chinese IM software, like MSN.

This is the first time I'm saying this out loud, but I really think that at this stage in my life my best friend is no other than my partner, my boyfriend. Today is our tenth anniversary together and in today's relationships that's a milestone. We've had to put up with a lot of each other's quirks, but I guess we've stayed together because we've recognized what we each bring to the other's life...
I have another best friend who I've known since I was a kid.. we don't see nor communicate as often as we used to but I know that she's always going to be there for me, and I for her. I have college best friends too that I treasure.

I have known my best friend about fourty some years. Since I was in the seventh grade. We talk on the phone but have seen eachother for about twentyfive years. Yet we both feel close and talk all the time. When she lived here we saw eachother all the time for chili/card parties. Always had something going on.

If I come into some money maybe we can ride together on the plane. I don't want to go on a plane alone.

Hello, Hannanable. My best friend and I have been friends since we were both 11, and now we're 57, so that's 46 years. We're more like sisters than friends, and we each seem to know when the other needs a bit of comfort or to share something good. Many times I think, 'I must ring Helen,' and before I can do it, she calls me. She says the same thing happens with her.
I live in Spain and she lives in England, but we get together in one place or another every 2 or 3 months. She's visiting us this week to share in my husband's birthday celebration. We always keep in touch and, if we have a disagreement, which we often do, we talk it over and get over it. I can't imagine her not being in my life after all these years.

Hi Hanna,
Like you, I've known my best friend since we were in grade school. Our friendship started about more than 30 years ago. We were always together even when we reached high school. In college we went to different universities, but still we managed to get in touch. Now we are both married and have kids, and live in different cities, we still keep in touch through mail and phone calls and we make it a point to visit each other on special occasions.

Hi,there.I think we have the similar experience with you.My best friends and I are on for nearly a decade too.But I don't remember which day is exact. We become friends when we were new of grade one of high school.I remember that day is the first day of my new school, and she said "hello" to me but I was so shy that I blushed. And now I am a junior in university but we never lose in touch. In fact ,our school are close,we call on each other so long as we have time.I love her and I believe she is my life-long friends.

I think both of us were so lucky.I was very introverted at that time.As a freshman in that school,I even didn't know how to communicate with others. In a sence ,she changed my life.I am grateful to this friendship.I hope we can be friends here and don't forget to send my best wishes to your friends.

You know what, back then I was the loser of the class and they were the first group of people who held out a hand to me and I felt really blessed. I also strongly believe that they're going to be my life-long friends.
Isn't it always nice to know that there'll be people who'd look past your flaws and love you unconditionally through time? :D

its almost 6 yrs that we have been friends. ther are more friends who are still in the list but becoz of long distance and years away from them, they aren't so good friends. i am saying about my school friends, i chat with them but they are very far away from me and thus not met since years.

shouldn't the distance make the friendship stronger? don't you ever think that if you guys meet up and catch up again you'll be able to have epic stories to tell to each other? :D

My oldest best friend and I have been friends for 23 years. We met the summer before we started school at a neighbors 5th birthday party. We were both already 5. We are both now 28 with kids! There have been various times over the years where we were still friends but we did our own thing and didn't really speak much but we always ended up back close. After school she went to college a few states away but we always have kept in touch. Her family is up here still so I get to see her when she comes up for visits. My other best friend and I met when we were 15, so it has been 13 years. She still lives in the area and we try to get together often. Our lives are a little different right now, I'm married with 3 kids, she is still single and dating around trying to find Mr. Right.

I must say that I have had a great friend since about 1980, 30 years of being buddies, we went to same high school and he graduated a year before me but we live in the same state close in proximity to each other. We do get together every now and then but since we are both married and have families it is sporadic when we get together. However, we do talk about every day or so on the phone.

I met my best friend in first grade (6 years old), now I am 32! That is 18 years! It's funny though, I got the last invitation to her birthday party, she had actually put another girl's name on the invitation and that girl moved and so she scratched hers off and added mine! We live in different towns and different lives; although there are some similarities, when we do catch up!

she probably thought you don't really need an invitation to get invited, that it's like a protocol for you to come as her best friend! =D
i believe that it's always nice to catch up with your best friends, they've become special people in our lives and there's always a part of us that is the same with theirs. :D

I have a friend that I have known for 12 years. We are both Danes, but we met in Italy 12 years ago and we have kept in touch ever since. We have done a lot of things together, and we have visited many places in Denmark and a few places in other countries. My best friend and I haven't known eachother for that long, we met on the internet and in the beginning we exchanged emails and chatted. In 2007 we met for the first time, and since that time we have become close friends. We don't live in the same part of the country and we keep in touch via emails, text messages and phonecalls. When we vist eachother we always spend the night, that way we have plenty of time to talk.

Hi Hannanable,
I have be friends with my best friend for 7 years. We met in the same college, we are from different high school and different province too! Now we are working in the same city, you are aboslutely right, friendship is really hard to keep, like now, she is busy, she did not return my calls, i felt hurt, but i will give her a call later this afternoon.

i know the feeling! we're six in the group. we study in different schools now, and the schools are built nearby each other but we still have troubles setting up a schedule. LOL.
one of my best friends studies in the same college but we barely even see each other because i'm too busy with my affiliations and she's busy with her love life, so we don't really have time to talk or text even.
but when we're all of us are together it's like we're standing on a common ground and we never run out of stories to tell.
i guess that's the good thing about missing each other every now and then. epic stories!:D

I'm sad to say i have had 3 really good friends in my life and i dont talk to any of them anymore. They didn't do anything but over time we just lost touch with each other and i dont talk to them anymore. Friendship is wicked important and i hope someday maybe we could be friends again. I've learned not to take my friendships for granted.

My best friend and I have been friends for over 15 years now. We met while our husbands were stationed in Hawaii. Even though we live far apart, we still tell each other every thing and can talk about everything. We try and visit each other when ever we can. This year, she is going to be visiting with us for the 4th of July weekend. We can't wait to be together. We have a ton of fun when we are with each other. Our children get a long very well and so do our husbands. We are like one big happy family.
I get excited when I think about being able to spend time with her.

Hi~ I think I am lucky one that I can have best friends in my life.It is really happiness I can share all with another people. We have been friends for ten years from junior middle school to now.We keep in touch all the time. The most important is we always try to exchange thoughts and understand each other. No matter how long we haven't met each other, we always have common topics. My friend told me: we are together as our hearts together forever.^^

I have some best friends and we have been friends for more than 17 years! (My highschool friends). We still keep in touch, as our office is not that far, some when we have time, we have lunch together. My campus friends, most of them are already married, but we also stay in touch. We have been friends for 14 years!
But i really admire how my mom maintains her friendship. She used to stay in Aceh for 17 years, then she moved to Jakarta, worked, got married and have 2 daughters (my eldest sister and me). every 4 months, they meet and organize something and they still keep in touch and help each other. They have been friends for..50 years! And my mom met her old friend (and it happened to be my in-law`s aunty)after 40 years!

I have been with friends with my best friend for about 4 years or more, it may only seem like a small year of freindship but we had a good 4 Years together, we always had each other back and we would always hang out, he would crash at my place and i would crash at his place.
We have different interests but that has never got in the way of our friendship, we had a few fights here and then but nothing too serious, we maintained our freidnship by constanly seeing each other but if soemtimes we didnt see each other, we would eventually miss one another.

I really don't have a best friend. Seriously. I am not grouchy or anything but I just dont have a best friend. I have close friends and they are just few. But a Bestfirend I dont think do.. like that someone who shared everything with and knows everything about you and all that. I had a few close friends when I was young but I have no contact of them anymore. SAD
