I tried using one before out of curiosity, but I always end up getting no food. I just got tired and hungry, I gave up. I think we need a lot of practice to really be an expert in using a chopsticks.

I can't even remember when I learned. I guess I was a teenager. Eating with chopsticks is so easy. I use them with as much ease as I do when eating with Western utensils.

Yes, I do know how to use the chopsticks because it is part of my custom and it wouldn't be appropriate if I do not know how to use them. But of course I am not perfect in the art of using chopsticks; there are times when I still struggle to pick up certain foods, especially small, round or slippery food. It actually takes time to be able to use the chopsticks well, so if you're trying to learn, you should give yourself time to do it. Don't care if others laugh at you, because they only kill off the motivation that you have to learn. Maybe it may help to learn to use the chopsticks while you are eating alone or with your family (I'm sure your family won't laugh at you right? ). I can tell you, it will feel good when you finally manage to master the art of using chopsticks......

I know how to use chopsticks, and I'm happy when I use them, especially for noodles and pasta.. It's really easier and more comfortable to use the spoon or fork, but chopsticks for me can be fun to use, well at least for me..

Yes I know how to use chopstick a little. But I'm not an expert. I only use chopstick when I eat noodles, sushi and when dinning in chinese, korean and japanese retsurants.

I'm a Filipino (Philippines) although we live in Asia we use spoon and fork in eating our food. For some weird reason I find eating with chopsticks easy (except in RICE LOL). Maybe I learned that by watching Japanese Dramas and by trying to use chopsticks everytime we eat in a Chinese or Japanese Restaurant. Go Search for YouTube Videos. It should help you. :D

I was fortunate that I learned as a kid. A guy was showing his gf how to use them at a nearby table in a restaurant, so I tried it and kept practicing until I could pick stuff up without getting sloppy in the process. It mostly takes time to learn, and I keep chopsticks among my tableware to use at home so I keep in practice.
You might also look on Youtube and see if you can find a tutorial that makes sense to you. There are a couple different approaches, and seeing someone else demonstrate well can be the biggest help.

hi! chopsticks wouldn't be my first choice as i am more accustomed to using spoon and fork, or only fork occasionally. i can manage to eat with it, but i don't know if i'm using chopsticks the right way. most probably, i'm not anyway.
a chinese acquaintance once taught me how to use chopsticks when i met her in bali indonesia before. a few days with her was supposed to improve my usage of chopsticks but it didn't since we didn't really go to a lot of chinese restaurants in the area. hehe
i figured it would come very handy when i travel to some asian countries. i experienced that there are some establishments in hongkong and korea which did not have spoon and forks readily made available to customers. so learning how to use chopsticks would be quite good.

:) Yeah, of course. Many people around me use chopsticks when eating, so it's not difficult to me to use them.
Well, I know many foreigners are eager to know how to use chopsticks and I find some relative videos on eHow to teach people using them. They are usefull. You guys can go and check them out.

Yes, I do know how to use them. I learned using chopsticks a long time ago. I have a friend who is Chinese in origin. Usually when we eat, he uses chopstick. Out of curiosity, I asked him to teach me how to use it. Well, now, I am really good at using it and when I go to Chinese restaurants, then I always use chopsticks.

I've nearly never used them, so when I was in Japan I really struggled, especially with the warm noodle soups. I never got the hang of whipping the soup into the mouth as you are supposed to do. It was much easier with Thai food and in Singapore, the rice was much sticker so I could actually lift it and you got spoon for the soup.
