I use the highway to go to my dad's at least once a day and its a 45 mins drive. I like to blast good music. Something with a good beat, rock preferably or a happy song. Ive noticed that I'll tend to speed if the song is good and slow down when its a song I dont really like. If Im alone in the car, I'll sing along.
Do you have music on when you drive and what do you like to listen to and does it match your speed?

Yes, I absolutely LOVE driving with music on. It is one of my favourite things to do. There are times when I wont have the music on or have it very low, but thats only if I really need to concentrate on something like finding a road in unfarmiliar territory or something along those lines. I like to listen to all types of rock, mostly 90's rock and 2000's stuff as well. Usually I dont speed too much but sometimes I will speed a little more than usual if Im listening to some heavy rock or metal or something like that. I usually dont realize it for a bit and then will and will slow down though :P

Haha very nice :) Yeah driving in the country is great for that reason and taking in the views at the same time as well. I guess sometimes it can be boring but what the heck, atleast music makes things much more interesting!

Hello Grunge,
Thanks for your reply. Oh I know what you mean. I sometimes go for a drive just for the fun of driving with no particular destination. I live in the country and we dont have cops on our roads until I get to the highway.....so I like to put my foot to the pedal and enjoy the ride....with the music blasting of course haha.

I always have to have music on when I am driving, but I don't blast it. I keep it at a comfortable volume. Some of my favorites I will turn up louder, but just for that song and then it goes back down. Me and my sister refer to our favorite songs as "window down songs." It mean's they're good and we have to roll down our windows and turn it up to share it with everyone around!
lol

I don't turn it up loud enough...really it's only loud enough that the people next to me would hear it (at a comfortable volume) and only if my windows were down lol. I don't like being rude and blasting people out with my country music :P

Hello Lily,
Thanks for your reply. Oh so you like to share your music with the other drivers. Im afraid it wouldnt be such a good idea here. Most kids have sound system in their cars that you can hear from miles away....... with the windows DOWN lol. My sound system in my SUV is not that great but it can still let my hubby know that Im close to home when I turn on our street. haha.

Hello Rogue,
Thanks for replying. Do you notice that you drive faster or slower depending what type of music you're listening to? Do you sing along?

Yeah, I will drive faster or slower depending on the song, but being that I live in Cali, I have to watch the speed limit no matter what.

My husband and I usually listen to music while we are driving. We live in the countryside, we often to drive to the city for instanse when we have classes and tend we to spend quite a lot of time in the car. I love listening to my favourite music while we are driving. Sometimes I download some music from the internet and create my own cds, and afterwards we listen to the cds in the car. I also like to borrow cds at the library, that way we get to listen to a lot of different music and we don't get bored while we are driving.

Hello Porcospino,
Sounds like you have listening music down to a science. Yes the idea is to have as much different music as possible. Glad you enjoy music as much as I do. Thanks for your input.

everytime my husband and I are on the road, we would always crank up the music loud enough for the other cars to hear then sing along on top of our lungs. hahaha.
it's so much fun. I especially love it when the music of our youth comes on. we belt out like there's no tomorrow. hahaha.

I always have to have the music playing whenever I am driving somewhere. Especially when I am alone because I can blast the music full volume without getting complaints from a passenger for me to change the music. I think playing music in the car is like singing in the shower, it works the same way. It's a great time to be yourself and boogie. When I am cruising down the boulevard with my friend or by myself I play everything.

Yes, I do, especially when I'm alone in the car. I love music and I love to have it playing in the background even when I'm at home doing the chores. I love to listen to pop music, jazz, classical light rock, rnb, almost all types, it really doesn't matter. As long as I like the melody and the lyrics. As for speed, it is not at all affected by the music that I listen to.

Hello Aprilten,
I guess you turn down the volume if you have someone in the car with you, unless they like the same music lol. So you can manage to keep your speed down even if the music is fast.....good for you. I also have music at home, cant stand no sound in the house haha.

Hello Banban,
I just told the person above you that we all drive with music and you come along and explain why you dont have any music on. Its understandable since you're learning how to drive. Im trying to remember when I started driving. Oh yes I do remember now. It was with my dad and he always has the radio on and he fell asleep while I was learning haha, scared the daylight out of me. Im sure you'll do very well and you'll be a great driver. Make your dad proud!!

I love listening to music while I drive. I usually sing along to it, and channel surf a lot. If a passenger is with me, I'll often give them radio control, or ask them to plug in an iPod with a prepicked playlist. I just can't get used to driving in silence.

Hello Theweerouss,
You're like me, cant drive in total silence....thats when you notice all the little sounds the car makes....right? haha I like how you give your passenger control of the radio. As a passenger, I like to tinker with the buttons also lol.

I love music so even I drive a car, I have to put the music on. My favorite genre is rock, especially punkrock and sometimes metal and alternative. But I only turn on rock music if I'm alone in the car. If somebody with me, I have to change the music genre lol. Because no body in my house like rock music. Unluckily, I don't drive alone in a car, unless for special condition. Because, I prefer to ride a bike to downtown, or just hope on a bus.
About the matching between speed and music genre, I don't feel like I drive faster if the music beat fasten. Actually, I don't really listening to the music after all. I only turn on the music to accompany me in the ride.

Hello Iharidh,
So you have the music only for background. I dont think I could drive and not pay attention to the music. Im usually singing along and other drivers must be wondering what the heck Im doing talking to myself or being so happy when Im the only one in the car haha, thanks for your input.

I totally listen to music when I drive, especially since my drive to and from work are about 1/2 hour each way. I never noticed anything regarding speed versus music, but I'll definitely keep an eye out ;). I love listening to stuff I can sing along to like Nightwish, and I just belt it out, no matter how bad I sound :P. Once, I was at a red light and singing along to a Nightwish song (with their old singer who was an opera singer) and the guy in the car next to me was looking at me smiling and saying "yeah!" with thumbs up. I just laughed and turned red, but it was pretty funny.

Hello LadyAmaranth,
Haha, isnt it a nice way to meet people, you singing and the guy in the next car noticing? I would have turned red also haha. Thanks for your reply and if you notice that you drive faster when the music has a faster beat, let me know.

I listen to music when I drive. Sometimes the speed has a relativity to drive, but I give it stop when I feel that speed is not criteria but life is.

I like music, and my speed will match the music. I do very little of the driving if Hubby is around, and I do not get to pick the music if he is driving. I like for him to sleep and me to have something that moves me right along. Preferably something I know well enough to sing along to as well.

Hello Hal,
Thanks for your reply. Yes it can be boring and even put you to sleep if you drive at night. I youtubed Bandari and I have to admit that this type of music would mostly put me to sleep. Im more the Rock type of Heavy Metal myself. But its great dance music though. Thanks for sharing.

Most of the time when I drive is during the morning heading for work. Its just a 15-20 minutes drive. Usually, I just listen to the news on the radio instead of music. That way, I am informed and updated of whats happening. When I have the chance to travel and drive for about 2-3 hours, then that is the time that I listen to music. I usually prefer pop songs or some other songs with fast beats. I guess such kind of music keeps me active and alert. Usually when I go home from work, I play the music, mostly instrumental love songs. Somewhat to relax my mind after a days work.

Hi Jpso,
Thanks for the reply. Oh yes the proverbial drive to work. Used to do that a lot before and mine was a bit longer than yours though, you're lucky to only have a 15-20 mins drive, perfect for listening to whats going on in the world.

I alway have music on when im in a car, but the thing is that I dont drive so is kind of a hobby or something like that. I actually bored of being in the car for hours so musics help me past some times and I enjoy listening to my favorite musics. But I do that when I play Need for Speed ..hehe.. with all the speed and musics on, is the best thing to do.

Yeah It kinda gets boring if you don't turn on the music while you drive especially if it's a long trip. I always turn on my music when I drive and yeah sometimes I get carried away and speed things up when the song is either angry or heart pumping and when it gets mellow I tend to slow things down go with the flow I guess
