when you don't have enough experience in business,it is better if you start with franchising.this will help you in learning on what to do when handling a business.the lessons you learned in franchising can be applied when you start your own business.for me,I would start with franchising.later on I will start my own business, but I will still keep my franchise.

There are advantages and disadvantages to both those options. With a franchise, if you get into a successful one- and you should do your homework well before joining any franchise, you will be joining a successful system. They will tell you exactly how to run your business to be successful. They have tested things and so they know how it works. For example Starbucks, as far as i know, is successful. What makes them successful, i dont know. Is it the taste of their coffee? Their price? Their atmosphere? Whatever it is, when you join a franchise they tell you how much to charge, how to this, how to that-it's all worked out for you in advance-and since the system has a proven track record, you stand a good chance. The down side is that you are not completely your own boss. If you're creative and like to do things your own way, you may find it annoying to have to be told what to do.
Personally i think starting your own business is a lot more fun and a lot more risky. You can do whatever you want. But you will have to do a lot of homework before you start your own business. Find out if there is a market for what you're thinking of selling or for the services you're thinking of offering. Find out what the going price/rate is for that product/ service. How much does it cost to start such a business etc.
Good luck!

not all franchise business will work. we once franchised a french fries business and it failed. later we realized that we are in the wrong market. the french fries company catered to the a market but we are in a b-c mall. later almost all of their franchisees closed too.
if you want a business that has already a system and a name you should go for franchise. when you start on your own, you have a lot of researching to do. the suppliers, the lay out, the system. but if you are not willing to follow the system of the franchisor, you just with your own concept.
who knows, you might be the franchisor next time..

in this age of downturn in business, i suggest you go for franchise, rather starting your own, as it cuts the risk of losses
