Are you closer to your computer than you should be?

About four months ago I discovered that my firewire port was acting up. Okay, I didn't know it was officially until a couple weeks ago, but I figured that was the problem when I couldn't get it to read my new camcorder, but the camcorder was reading it. I scored message boards, spoke with Cannon, and Apple, within a matter of months, and even tried to figure out how to transfer my video footage to my computer some other way. A week before new years I took my Mac to a specialist and signed it in to have it looked over. I explained to the customer service rep that I issues asking for help, hence how long I waited before seeking expert advice. However I lied unintentionally. When I squeezed my mac to my chest like a child before giving it up I and realize this was the first time my computer and I had been separated I knew asking for help was not the reason it took me so long to have my computer looked at. I am very attached to my computer. It might very well be my best friend. I work on it, write on it, watch movies on it, listen to music, chat, keep up with finances, heck, I sweet talk the thing when its acting funny. I have heard of people being this way with their car, but not with their computer. Is this odd? Are you too close to your computer? another gadget or inanimate object? Do you have a funny story about this?

Was your network mad that you met a girl? I'm joking of course.

Oh, I thought you met a girl out in the real world. My Mac gets mad if I go most of the day not using it, so I understand.

Don't tell your girlfriend about Gallardo, and definitely not the graphics card, lol. The car she might be able to get, maybe, but unless she is a gamer, coming second to a graphics card might piss her off. I've actually had a guy who was into me confess he was worried he couldn't compete with my computer. I told him as long as his conversation was okay, and he had arms to hold me back he would probably be okay... but I was lying, lol!

I'm glad you caught that I was kidding. I was worried someone might think I would really choose my Mac over a really good relationship... not that I'm saying I wouldn't go through withdrawals, only that I would be more excited about hanging out than messing around with my computer.

I used to do that with my PC. Now I'm nice to my Mac because I am somehow convinced that if I am it wont throw a tantrum. The other day the internet connection was acting up, and I cursed at the screen, and quickly started rubbing the track paid saying "Not you sweetheart the internet connection, not you", lol.

Hey Dark,
Your comment sounds like a dirty joke, lol, I hope that wasn't offensive to say. I'm actually saving to give my baby a bigger, better hard drive, in addition to a couple more protective hard cases, and a back up battery... I think I spend more on my Mac than on myself. That reminds me, I was talking with my mother about this and she reminded me of something that occurred just after I dropped my mac off at the specialist. In the car she says I frowned and said to her, my mac is a boy, not a girl. The sales woman said something along the lines of "don't worry we'll take good care of her".
