I presume you will be settled in this country for a while - learning a language will be the first step, then get to know the locals, learn their culture and try to enjoy the place, people, culture. That way, you can make your stay there a memorable and enjoyable one.

I am also living in a foreign country. I watch a lot of cable TV, use the internet and try to get better at speaking Spanish. It is difficult though because I can't get into any in depth conversations. They have to be simple for me to understand and I miss that more than I ever thought I would.

There are hundreds of jobs that does not require language to work. Check up what are the internet sites which offers jobs for women near your area. Or from telephone directory, find out what the good companies near your place. Shoot one application with your qualification and specialisation. I am sure you will be able to find one.

do you like painting? I am also in a similar position like you. Luckily I speak the same language, I started painting recently and it really keeps me occupied.
