How to answer questions like these depends on the age of the child, and their ability to understand the answers. It is okay to say 'I don't know' when asked, and that creates a wonderful learning opportunity for both the child and the adult. If I was asked a question for which I did not know the answer, I would say 'I don't know, but let's go see if we can find out.' I would research the answer with the child, which will not only help find an answer to the question, but show the child a few other things: that adults don't have all the answers, that it's okay to not know something, how to find answers on their own, and to encourage their thirst for knowledge. I would never say don't ask or I don't know and then leave it at that. Doing that would discourage the child from asking questions, and make him not bother asking next time.

I would answer in kids style, but I would tell them that I may be lying, except for God existence. I would give the answer "God exists, you'd better believe it."

i find the questions of children fascinating. i dont understand why some adults think its all stupid questions and answering them is a waste of time. the children are very curious and as we answer them, we are also performing a revision of ourselves, and testing ourselves that how well can we think, how well can we bound our ideas etc
