I am lazy too! But I do prefer them in the oven! They are just a better texture somehow!

I've never baked a potato in a microwave...always used the convection oven.
I would guess that the spuds would turn out rather hard? Yes? No? Sometimes?
Skins on, wrap 'em up in tin foil, and toss 'em in the oven.
That's the way we used to do it. (...and still do.)

They aren't real hard when you bake them in the microwave, they are just not as moist and soft as in the oven.

Hi Macdingolinger,
I'm old-school all the way. I like the oven method the best. I only use my microwave for heating up things and an occasional frozen pizza. For almost everything I would rather use the conventional oven. I tried the microwave for scrambled eggs....not bad but not anything like the stove top.

I ike them baked in the oven too! I know it takes longer but their texture is better and they are more moist.

Oh for sure they are better in the oven. However, I only put them in the oven if other things are being baked at the same time. Otherwise, I just use the microwave because its faster. I have gotten it to a science in calculating how many minutes to bake it in my microwave. Sso as much as its not exactly like how it comes out in the oven its really close. For me one medium to large potatoe is in the micawave for 4 minutes check it again and usually just another 4 minutes will do the job.

I learned this thing where if you microwave them, first wash them off and then cut a slit in them and place them in a bowl of water and put in the microwave until done and they come out so good!!! And then add all the things you like. It seems to take so long in the oven that's how I cook them now!!

Yep, that sounds good. I still like the real baked ones even though they take longer. I still use the microwave a lot because they are faster, but I prefer the oven!
