If I had my way I'd eat sweet stuff all the time!Seriously though, it is a problem isn't it? I need to start the tea later and all I want to do is open a tin of rice pudding lol. Why do we like foods that are bad for us? It's not fair! I love sweets, chocolate, all those things but we're not exactly encouraged to eat them are we? Why can't we have a Chocolate Guru or a Chocolate Zsar? We have them for everything else in the UK.
I'd volunteer!By the way, please don't mention the takeover of Cadbury as I'm likely to become rather upset...Mars is fine, they're American anyway, so I can cope with them...but the "K" word...no, definitely not!

Why do we like foods that are bad for us?
If you asked a scientist I bet they would say it's to do with the release of endorphins, but hey that's a boring answer. I prefer to think of it as we always want something we can't or shouldn't have, sounds more normal to me to think of it like that.
As for do I have a sweet tooth?
Definitely I just love sugary snacks and really have to control myself from eating all those tasty naughty goodies through out the day or putting an extra spoon of sugar in my cuppa. If you ever became the chocolate guru I would put myself forward for a job working in the department, preferably one which required pleny of testing and tasting.

Haha! Great minds think alike my friend! Unbelievably I don't actually take sugar in my tea. I once forgot to put some in and ended up preferring the taste without it. Now I can't stand tea with sugar in it. I just like sugar in everything else lol!

Yes, Janey, in fact I have a mouthful of sweet tooths, ack! Like you, I wonder why some seemingly innocent things we tend to enjoy end up being unhealthy. One thing, though...dark chocolate IS a healthy food :))

It sure is! Trouble is, I like the milky stuff the best!My Grandad used to love Bournville Dark Chocolate which is made by Cadbury and is actually a model village built for the workers, near Birmingham. I was shocked to learn, however, that Bournville Chocolate is now made in FRANCE! So there is a Bournville factory but it's made in France and imported back in. Crazy world we live in my friend!

It is indeed a crazy world. The US has so many of their companies over-seas now, that very few things say "made in the USA" any more. And yet we hurt badly for jobs!

I have a sweet tooth occasionally. Mostly I crave salty snacks, like pistachio's.

Funny you should say that. I have always wondered what pistachios tasted like and I found out recently when I tried a free sample in a shop. They're lovely aren't they? Much better for you than salted peanuts, I would think.

Mars and Sneakers, how about that?
I have a sweet tooth definitely and I find that whenever I'm in a bad mood, eating some chocolates tend to life my mood up. Although it has been proven scientifically, it really feels amazing whenever I feel that uplifting mood.

Wrong spelling! LOL........apologies there.
Marathon it is called there, eh? Awesome.. and I thought it was the running chocolate bar.
Not say you, but I'm having a craving for chocolates right now. Oh no, make that ice-cream filled with some chocolate toppings. Yum!

They are called Snickers over here...it's just that they USED to be called Marathons lol. We can't get used to it so most people still call them Marathons. It's the same with our Opal Fruits. They are now called Starburst...but we still call them Opal Fruits, because that's what they are. Haha!

If you mean Snickers (or Marathons as we keep calling them here), well, what can I say? You have an awesome taste in choccy my friend and you have succeeded in making me feel rather peckish lol.

You sound like you have a VERY SWEET life. LOL. Enjoy it, but please take care, that is not really very healthy. Pick one day of the week and that will be your sweets day. Seriously, try it. If you take a bit of fruit in the other sweets days place, that will be a bit better. Ye, swear at me that,s fine. Just Kidding.

Haha! That's ok, I've made a few spelling mistakes on here lol. I've got a new supply of chewy toffees in my sweet tin but those are the first supplies of the week, so I've done quite well for once!

Yes, I have sweet tooth but you're right that it's bad for us because everytime I consumed much of it I experienced sore throat and worst the next day I have cough and flu so it's so sad that we have to deprived ourselves from consuming those food that are really comforting and satisfying. But if our health is at stake then we must stay away from these food or if not possible we have to minimize our consumption of those comfort foods otherwise our body will suffer.

"All Things In Moderation" as they say! Yes, you are quite right, our health does suffer if we overdo it. Funnily enough, I don't eat loads at Christmas-time, I feel guilty about it...and I hate seeing loads of trolleys in supermarkets full of food when there are starving children around the world who don't have enough food AT ANY TIME, never mind at Christmas. So I do think about that more as I get older...so when I do have a treat, it means more than just feeding my face continuously until I'm sick. Thanks for posting!

Just reading this made me open open a bar of Cadbury!!! LOL
Theres a certain time that I really crave for sweets and there are times that I don't. The only thing is if I crave for chocolates, I really do. There was even a time that I was feeling really down and stressed, I ended up buying tons of chocolates and half of my grocery list. Most of the chocolates were Cadbury (Black Forest - to be exact)

Black Forest, is that the organic dark chocolate? Goodness me, I'm craving for chocolate now. Unfortunately, there's only a massive Turkish Delight in the fridge and I don't like them..I mean, that's awful isn't it!

I'm not sure if its organic but its Cadbury LOL I kind of miss Cadbury's Top Deck.
Hmmm Turkish delight? I just aate baklava last night hehehe
You're not mean, just because we have a sweet tooth doesn't mean we can't pick what sweets or desserts we can have :P

i don't really like sweet foods and i am not a sweet person actually... i am more a savoury person and prefer salty food compare to the sweet ones... that's why i hardly even eat candy or chocolates and if somebody give me chocolates, i only eat very little and give the rest to my hubby... take care and have a nice day...

I think I have a sweet tooth, but it has decreased in size as I grew older. I just don't eat that much sweets, as I used to when I was younger. But it doesn't mean I don't eat much sweets...I do! I can have different kinds of sweets every day, several times a day! Luckily I don't have any problems with eating sweets at all, so I don't worry about my habit.

I take it you can eat them without putting weight on? I used to be like that...but not anymore, unfortunately. Gone are the days where I could start off with a bacon buttie at work, followed by crisps (chips), or something similar at break-time, my own sandwiches at lunch-time, then chocolate in the afternoon break...oh, and not forgetting tea at Mum's. Aah! Those were the days!

Me too Janey...I love sweets and crave them every single day. I particullary love custards and puddings and anything made with heavy cream,,Cream puffs, which I've just made last weekend..yum,,and cheesecakes are all in my thoughts, daily!!! I love to make desserts, not bake, but things like those listed and I love to delight others with these wonderful creations. Unfortunately, everything I love is bad. I'm not as young as I used to be and I know I need to start watching what I eat, but I am just not ready to do it yet!!!! Hopefully I'll live long enough to find some healthier choices but healthier is never as delicious!!! Your not alone my friend..Also, why do you guys hate Kraft..I'm just curious.
@Janey1966 (24170)
• Carlisle, England
29 Jan 10
Because Kraft makes inferior chocolate to Cadbury and we are all worried sick about our recipes changing, corners being cut, no glass and a half of full cream milk in every bar of Dairy Milk Chocolate...that kinda thing. I just can't understand why a British company can't take over an overseas one..I mean, Cadbury is successful, it's all about money (for the shareholders) and I worry for the workers in the UK. Not many of them left now, a lot of chocolate is made overseas even before the Kraft takeover...oh, and Kraft make cheese and spreads lol. Hardly world-renowned chocolatiers. Sorry for being a snob but there you go, you did ask!

My sweet tooth is a nightmare because it means I constantly have an urge to snack on all those sugar-filled delights that I know are bad for me, but I cannot resist
And Kraft taking over Cadbury? As long as the chocolate itself stays the same, then I'm not fussed, even though Britain is losing one of its most esteemed brands.

Exactly, which is why I'm boycotting it...not yet though 'cos it's not been finalised. There's still hope and I want Cadbury to take over Kraft, seeing as the former is a successful company and Kraft is skint!

I have a ridiculous sweet tooth, I love candies, deserts, and as I never had problems with my weight I was able to eat it all the time, but until one day I started feeling bad of my stomach and was diagnosed with IBS so I had to cut all the sweet things

How unfortunate my friend...but at least the IBS forces you to think about what you are eating, so from that point of view it's a good thing. Mum has it but has spells of eating peanuts...AND sweet things. Naughty woman lol. Thanks for posting and welcome to MyLot!
