Well Kapil Dev has finally decided to get back in limelight with his new suggestion to the BCCI. He has gone on record to say that we should play the South Africans on turning tracks.
Playing South Africa on turning tracks makes sense after all we need to back our strengths. But with Harbhaj's performance and others spinners show on the Bangladesh tour who will have the heart to do so..
What do you think should we follow the Great Captain of the past or go by the current form of the bowlers?

whatever pitch we play on, it should be favorable to both batsman and bowler, equally loaded. it should be seeming on the first day, batsman friendly on the next two days n should turn on the last two days. a classical track. and it should have true bounce and the pitch should have grass covering and man it should be cricket friendly and not batsman friendly...

Well if such a pitch is prepared don't you think we will be giving away the home advantage?
Have you seen South Africa ever offering us a turning track when we tour them.
I think home and away series are held so that we can take advantage of he home situations and conditions. Not create alien conditions for our selves and thus give the advantage to the visitors.

its not about giving away home advantage its about keeping cricket alive.. no one wants a square turning track on the first day and similarly it will start boring when the conditions are loaded in favor to the batsmen... bowlers aren't there to feed the batsman with runs and most of Indian tracks are turning but it doesnt mean they have to be having only turn.. we have to develop tracks which suit both the teams in equal proportion if we want a fair game.. its not about how they deal things.. its about how we do it... lets not develop tracks that will suit our batsman in all fairness... we will prepare tracks that will not have sharp turn and any batsman can while away the time in case its a draw.. remember what hall was able to do ages back.. everybody see cricket to have a result... a fair game with a result should help the test cricket... the longer version needs to be saved.. we cant see a game for five days and end in a draw right...

yes we do not want something like happened with sri lanka on delhi. we need a good pitch that goes well first of all and forget about the rest.

well i am not one of those preparing tracks favouring home sides type.
but you cant change people. but they atleast can try this
this is a 2 test and 3 odi match series.
so why not make the 2 odi as a flat track ( which we are becoming famous for ),1 a good bouncy sporting track for the 3rd odi and turning tracks for the test matches.
lets give the guys atleast one track which reminds them of home conditions

Well BCCI will not allow matches to be drawn specially with it making special arrangements for us to play test matches and to sustain the no.1 tag.

Well ODI is not something we are to worried about as each bowler has a limited quota to bowl. The important thing is the test match we should have home advantage there.
The ODI til the world cup will be played on flat tracks to get the viewership back to ODI from the t20.
ODI will be high scoring unless something like a kotla pitch is prepared lol

according to me indian bowlers are totally unpredictable.
no matter what pitch we make. we can only belive in our batting strength.
nothing can be commented about the bowling, but turning track will be good because indian batsman are good spin players and SA too dont have quality spinners and so it will be tough for their quickies to bowl.

According to team india, the total strength is only batting not bowling.
some situations,i.e little bit of time the bowlers play a little role in matches
and team india bastmen play spin very well compare to any team.
the indian team is strong in playing spin,so the pitch is not matter....
if one innings may loss, but next innings we gain.

I think what kapil dev said is right but the problem is that if we make turning tracks then it help other teams because they will get full advantage of like their home pitches where as spin pitches are not friendly pitches as in India, Pakistan.India in years has not produced good spinners ohja, mishra are good bowlers but still they have to learn more.

Well totally agreed I know our spinners are not performing they way we have the former greats do on turning tracks. But we need to give them a chance to prove.Till the time we don't support them its going to be like killing our budding spinners. We need to promote spin again and that can happen only when there are spinning tracks available.

Kapil Dev is saying the right thing for the spinners but the reallity is that for spinnig tracks we have limited bowlers with international experience and in future u hardly find any other bowler to fill the empty space for anil kumble and harbhajan.

hi friend,
Yes now india will play against south africa.Indian team performance is very good.
In Indian are some good players like sachin, sehwag, dravid, laxman, dhoni, yuvaraj,
goutham, harbhajan, zaheer, etc.India can beat south africa and retain their top rank.
Great captaincy of dhoni.
have a good day.

I dont agree with views of kapil dev .
if we are number 1 team we should play on any track and defeat south africa.
before a ball being bowled we shouldn't go on defensive .
sporting wicket would be great for test match
cheers

Kapil dev's suggestion is always welcome and BCCI should take it seriously because he was a great player of his time and his experince will really helps india , but today we don't have good spiners who really turn the match in india favour and we need to work hard on spinners.

Yes Kapil Dev is right about saying that India should play against South africa to put the Indian players back on track. This will confidence to the players and increase the responsibilty of each player for the trust of every Indian in them to do their best to put India in the number 1 position.

Well Kapil Dev is the best player and he played a very importent role in the team.
but BCCI will not allow matches to be drawn.Whatever pitch we play on, it should be favourable to both batsman and bowler.
