We have a wintry weekend on our hands and we were running out of fun things to do since it's so icy and cold outside. My daughter and I decided to make some homemade cookies and of course everyone has a favorite. She likes the plain sugar cookies with multi colored sprinkles on top, My favorite is Chocolate Chip and hubby loves Peanut Butter best of all.
So I took a basic Sugar Cookie recipe and made all 3 kinds and we even added some Chocolate Chips to the Peanut butter ones for a new twist! That seems to be a new Favorite of both my daughter and hubby!!
So what's your favorite kind of cookie? Homemade or Store bought? Do tell!!

i haven't been able to make the perfect chocolate cookies yet, so my current favorite cookies are store bought: keebler's soft batch cookies. I love them and sometimes I crave for that as a treat. Chewy Chips Ahoy! makes a very poor alternative, hehe :)

I agree true chocolate cookies are very tricky, I haven't mastered them either! Tho I make a wonderful chocolate chip! I haven't tried the keebler's soft batch yet. We like the Chewy Chips ahoy and since you say they aren't nearly as good as the Keebler's soft batch, I will get those next time!
I wish I had time to bake every week but I just plain don't. It's all I can do to get a true family meal on the table for dinner every night! The economy has made us make many adjustments and now we only get take out 1x a week on Friday. We used to eat out at least 3 x a week. The funny thing is that now that I am in the habit of making a real dinner every night but friday, I really enjoy it!
Thanks for sharing! Be Well!

Do try it. ONe time when I was having a particularly strong craving for soft batch but found it unavailable in the grocery, I settled for Chewy Chips Ahoy which also happened to be in a similar red packaging. I was so disappointed when I got home and opened it :( I think I used to like it, but that was before I had a taste of keeblers :)
It's good then that you've been preparing your family dinners, I wish we did that regularly around here. Nothing beats home cooked food :)

Oh, my goodness I will have to say that I have many different kinds that I like. For starters I will have to say that I like my mom's peanut butter cookies and her no-bakes. The other favorite which I have never had till for the first time about 5 years ago when my hubby and I got married, which is called Hungry kids cookies. The reason for all three is because the peanut butter cookies are homemade that my grandma had made when my mom was younger and then my mom made them with my brothers and sisters and I. The No-Bakes of course is my mom's own recipe which is divine because it is not to sweet nor to blah. The hungry kids well the reason I like those is because it is like a sugar cookie flavor almost with nothing but tons of different chocolate in them. I have had them where there is chocolate chips, m&m's, and whatever other kind of chocolate you can find to put in it. They also have nuts in it, which of course is optional. You can also put peanut butter chips in them too. So there you have it, these are my most favorite cookies of all time.

They all sound very tasty! I've never heard of no bakes...are they really no baking or ? Chocolate and Peanut Butter together do make rather wonderful cookies indeed. I made the sugar cookies with the Mini M&M's for the 1st time this Holiday season and they were a big hit! They were so colorful and yummy! Thanks for sharing! Be Well!

Well in fact the no-bakes are really cookies that do not need to be baked. They are so good, in fact they have many different types of recipes for them on the net. Most of the recipes call for oatmeal, sugar, peanut butter, coca and some other ingredients. It takes about 10 minutes to prepare and about 20 minutes between the making and letting them set out. This is on cookie I recommend you to make because your children can spoon the cookies out for them to set. My and I make these every year around the holidays when I am at her place to help and we let the younger children spoon them out. We figure this way they can help and not worry about them getting burnt... Well I hope that you try these out, I think they will end up being a big hit at your place as they are at mine and at my mom's.

Hmmm...never added Chocolate chips to Oatmeal Raisin cookies before... I love chocolate so I might give that try next time I make the chewy Oatmeal Cookies, hubby isn't a big fan of raisins so don't usually add those. Says they remind him of bugs...tho I have no idea where he gets that one!

Ah nope! I haven't heard of Millie's Cookies but you sure make them sound tempting! We live in North Carolina and not really near a big city per se so don't think they are close to us. Might have to check them out online! Our daughter is super fit so she loves to have a few cookies with her sandwich and fruit and milk for lunch so I'm always on the outlook for yummy ones!
Sure do love to bake but there's just not enough time most weeks! Thanks for sharing! Be Well!

I LOVE cookies so much I like practically any type, but my current preference are Daim cookies, they are delectable, especially accompanied by a nice glass of milk or a hot drink like tea or hot chocolate
Although, I must say that my all-time favourite does happen to be Oreo. I could eat myself into a coma with them, though I probably never will.

We are big fans of the classic little Oreo!! And my hubby always tries to get me to get the double stuff kind - once he had one, he never wanted to go back to the "thin" filling!
I haven't heard of DAIM cookies, what kind of flavor do they have? Very glad to hear that you will restrain yourself from an Oreo Coma!! LOL!!

Ah...I can understand that! There is a big difference between a chocolate chip cookie done well and one that is just a poor example of what it should be! Much of it comes down to how good the chocolate is in my humble opinion. When I make them I always make sure everything is the best quality so the cookies will be extraordinary. Thanks for sharing! hi tallygirl09 when I think about favorite cookies I remember my mom making a cookie that had a sort of cooked raisin jam in the center. it was cinnamoney and also had this raisin jam filling;it was so good with a glass of cold milk or for an adult a cup of hot coffee, really good coffee. Also I love plain old fashioned ginger bread with chocolate frosting on them. really different and so delicious too. chocolate and ginger bread with raisins in it and walnut pieces ,. really unique.

Hmmm..My mom made cookies that were sugar cookies but she'd add something called mincemeat which is rather sweet and very raisiney..I wonder if that's the same filling your Mom used? My Mom would blend it in and sometimes add walnuts for crunch...very tasty! I've never had Gingerbread cookies with Chocolate Frosting on them...might have to try that one! Thanks for sharing! Be Well!

Those cookies you made sound good.. I love sugar cookies but I would say that I LOVE Vienna fingers. M&M cookies are on top of the list too. My mom used to make M&M cookies for me when I was little. Man were they good

I like Vienna fingers too but I think they recently changed the white filling since it's seems alot sweeter to me. We just got some last week for school lunches and I just had to sample a couple! Last time I had them they didn't seem quite as sweet. I made M&M cookies with the Mini kind for the first time this Holiday Season and they were a big hit with both the young and the not so young! I loved how colorful and festive they looked. We'll be making em again for sure..maybe at Easter time. Thanks for sharing! Be well!

I love Chocolate Chips the most. Homemade is the best of course, because you can make whatever you want it to be, plus you can add more extra chips.

It does not matter to me whether the cookie is homemade or store bought as long as it is an oatmeal cookie and deliciously made. I love sweets but I don't like sweet cookies. I don't know why. All know is that there's just one kind of cookie that I really love and that is oatmeal cookie. It was even my favorite when I was still pregnant.

I really love the Oatmeal cookies that are chewy..not the hard one's so much. A friend of mine added white icing to hers and while they looked very pretty, they were way too sweet for me...too much icing kinda ruined them for me. And Oatmeal cookies with Raisins that are chewy are divine! Thanks for sharing! Be Well!
