Now we can access movies from buying the DVD. it's more expensive than watching in the cinema/theater but we can watch the movie several times.. and as much as we want.
I always go to theater to watch movie.. and when i found out the movie is very nice.. then i would buy the dvd as my collection.
so, what about you guys? do you prefer watching movie in theater or buy the DVD?

I would think going to a movie theater would be more costly. When you buy a ticket, you're buying for one viewing. And depending on timing and what not you have to eaither sit through the entire movie without moving, or have to buy snacks and drinks which would end up costing you even more. Not to mention you have to use a public restroom or hold it.
Now for me Its cheeper to buy a dvd. Most dvds now a days cost less then the price of one ticket at the theater. You own the copy of the movie, and can control the viewing. And, you control the viewing, and have the luxury to move about as you please and not pay for food. So in the long run its a lot cheeper and better.

Actually where I live its a lot cheeper then the dvd. Tickets easily go for $20 USD (US Dollors) whereas DVDs can sometimes cost half that. Of course it depends on the dvd or if you're going for a boxed set. Boxed sets tend to cost a bit more. But yeah it depends on what it is and how well it does in the box office.

I prefer buying DVD because it is less expensive, Imagine if we are four, how much will it cost us compare to DVD? Plus the food we will be eating while watching the movie? Very expensive... Anyways, we can set up mood like inside the movie house at home and the whole family could enjoy it. Plus we can like what you said, watch it several times... pause or repeat a scene when we missed some part of dialog (script)...

Well yes, if you are alone or with your friends and no need to shoulder other's ticket, think watching movies in movie houses are better than in DVDs... However, one thing that I don't like in movie houses, is we need to wait for the time showing then -- we can't even repeat the movie for we all need to go out after the showing-- the time gap is big... and it is such a waste for time we we waited inside...

Hi cintoy!^^
If the movie has a lot of special effects, I will watch it in the theaters as much as possible. I want to enjoy the special effects, the make-up, the sounds, everything. It's always good to watch movies like that in the big screen. You can feel the sounds in your chest and your eyes get wide with amazement because of the larger than life special effects.^^
But if I wasn't able to watch the movie in the big screen, then I buy the dvd. Especially nowadays that there are tons of bootleg dvds out there. ^^;; With 12-in-1 movies in one dvd, I can watch a lot and I won't have to pay a lot.^^;; It's a shame to be buying this pirated dvds but I can't do anything about my tight wallet. ^^;;
Still, if it's a movie with lots of special effects, I prefer to watch them in the big screen. If the movie is drama or comedy or romantic, I can watch it on dvd.^^

Well, during my high school days, i used to go to theaters with friends.. but i got tired of watching after realizing that i should stop spending too much money on not so important things.. you know, watching at theatres these days is not practical anymore.. if you want to see a good movie then rent some vcds/dvds and watch them with your family or friends at home. in that way, you'll be able to save some pennies... :)

Definitely gracie04! We can save much. Like you, I used to watch movies at movie houses before when the ticket cost is not as expensive as today... And particularly, I can't and don't really like the idea of watching a movie alone-- so it is really expensive, plus the fact that I cannot watch movie without eating snacks to the end...

I prefer buying the DVD or renting. I feel more comfortable watching movies at home, by myself or even better with friends. Mostly because of the freedom at home. In cinema you cannot talk, so is not that social experience even if you are with friends, cannot stop the movie or get up to go for more snacks and drinks, whilst at home you can do all of those things without being shouted at or called rude.

If there is a movie that is newly released I always prefer to see in the theater first. If I like it, then I will purchase it on DVD later and see it however many times I desire. There is just something about seeing a premiere in a packed theater. I guess I'm old fashioned, but it does get people out of the house and socializing. After all, we shouldn't stay in our houses all the time.

Surely shouldn't stay at home all the time. You'll get rusty. =D
i didn't go during premier. I always go the next week or 5 days after the premier. I would ask those who have watched the movie for their opinion. Is it nice or not. If nice, i'll definitely go to watch soon
=D

I prefer DVD for the reason that I don't like spending too much now. I'd rather sit in the comfort of our home sofa or bed and watch movies in T.V. or computer. Though, sometimes, there are movies that I want to watch in the theater. Only then that time I spend for watching a movie in theater.

I prefer to watch the new movies in the theater as they are not out in the net or DVD is out and then I mostly see to it that if the movie is good then I download the movie from net and keep it in my PC to see it again and again. If the print of the movie is not good then I move to buy the DVD's

I perfer the DVD its inexpensive. Also you can watch it from the comfort of your own home. It saves so much money because one ticket is $10 where as a DVD thats $10 can be watched more than one time with a group of people. The only thing I dont like about DVD is you have to wait a long time before it comes out one the DVD. So if its a movie I really want to see than I would spend the money if I cant wait. So I would rather watch DVDs more than leaving to the theaters.

A few times a year we can afford to go to the theater. It's a great experience, as others have stated, with the big screen, sound effects, and the horrible for your health junk food! But most of the time we rent through Red Box, which is super cheap. Just recently we found a new store that sells used entertainment stuff, video games, even ipods. Most of the movies are $3 or so, and the selection is huge! You can also sell your old movies you don't watch to make romm for the new(old) ones.

There just seems to be something about that whole theatre experience with the HUGE sodas and buttery smells, people can't help but keep coming back because if they didn't they'd miss it. Just one of life's little pleasures I guess.

Well, you can say it's expensive if you buy the original copy. And chances are you'll not get hold of an original copy as long as the movie is still showing in theaters. But i agree that watching a movie in a theater makes it more exciting and you'll appreciate the whole movie experience more. I too used to go to the movies until when i got married. When you're married priorities changed and one of them is watching movies in theaters. But there's always the pirated copies that are readily available and so much cheaper too. unlike you, i don't collect movies so i usually dispose of the CD after i watch the movie. So watching movies at home works perfectly for me. I got to watch the movie i like, i can prepare my own snack and watch it together with the entire family without me burning a hole in my pocket. Cheers!

I like to collect movies but not all movies.. just the exciting one such as Avatar (really awesome), LOTR, and others
I do not think they are expensive though. but buying not interesting movies will be very expensive for me =D
You have a nice way of enjoying time with your entire family. It's nice to know that. Send my regards to your family.

Hello, I prefer to see DVD. Here, there is 'DVD-Rental'. So, the cost is very cheap rather than we go to cinema. However, for some good films, I consider to go to cinema., the sound system in cinema is far more good. It is more enjoyable.
Have a great day.
Best wishes,
