we just got a very big storm here on the east coast some places got as much as 28 inches of snow and i am very glad that we were not one of those places we were lucky maybe got 5 or 6 inches, but even with that was the most we got this year i blame it on the groundhog ha ha ha.
i guess my question is if you live in an area that gets alot of snow how do you deal with it do you just shovel it, or do you use a snowblower.
my dad has one of those big john deere blowers that he only uses when we get alot of snow on account that it uses alot of gas to run it.
i usually just shovel it if it is not a great big amount of snow and try to look at it as good exercise.
i will just be happy that we didn't get as much as some other places did which is amazing how an area close to you can get so much more snow, but i guess we were lucky in that regard.
so what do you do when you get a major snowstorm what is the best way to remove the snow?

We got about 20+ inches! We usually get a grand total of 5 inches annually. The maintenance guys used shovels today but they usually use a snow blower.

i feel bad for anyone who got over a foot let alone 2 feet, however i am glad that i don't have to deal with it. i had enough from that storm back in 93 to last me a lifetime. when you get alot of it even a good snowblower has trouble moving it especially if its heavy.

Well, I don't own a snowblower so I use an old coal shovel. But this year we've had so little snow, I think I've only used it once. The other few times it snowed, I just swept it away with a corn broom.

well this storm is very reminiscent of the one we had back in march 1993. we got 2 feet here then so i consider us lucky that was not much fun to clean up i remember we had a mountain of snow right in the driveway piled up under my basketball hoop. and my dad garage had like a cliff of snow in his gutter it was quite impressive actually, but when it melted it turned the sidewalk to ice and we had to use our coal shovel to chip away at it till we could get it all out of there that was quite an effort. after that all the snow melted and we got a really nice flood that had people behind our school boating to work. i think our whole state was shutdown for a day or two you werent allowed to go out at all so they could clean up all the roads.

I usually just shovel. We only got a couple of inches here last night. But there is a call for another snow storm here about Tuesday. By the time I got home from my daughters today, the snow had already melted off the side walk so I didn't even have to shovel today.
I am so ready for spring, and I think there are a lot of people wishing the ground hog didn't see his shadow on February 2nd.

we were very lucky to have not gotten more here seeing as just below us are measuring in feet and not inches. so i will gladly shovel my 5 or 6 inches and be glad it isn't more. i also know how much of a pain it is when you get that much snow it can really slow down a city or town for that matter. yes i think we can blame it on the groundhog it's all his fault ha ha ha.

i don't mind the snow when it is in moderation. you know living where we live that there is a good chance come this time of the season with the colder weather that you have a good chance to see some and to be honest it has been a pretty tame winter here up to this point, but i would guess this one storm has made up for all of that in some places.

Looks like another big snowstorm is coming here, after a slight reprieve for a week. I have heard conflicting reports about how much we are going to get. I guess just have to wait and see. Hopefully it passes over us for the most part but we already have gotten a few inches earlier in the weekend. That week with no snow and somewhat warmer temperatures was nice, but quite the tease. Now everything is going to come back worse than ever.
It really does help to have a snow blower. And have some gasoline on hand, because there is nothing more frustrating than having the snow blower run out of gas and being unable to get out to get it refilled. Then the snow removable has to be done the old fashion way with the shovel. That can take a long time.
I will be glad when the Spring hits but I think there are a couple of more bad snow storms before everything is clear. Such a shame, but there is not that much to be done. Hopefully the storm is not as bad as everyone says it might be. Of course, it could very well be worse, as these things tend to be.

that is true we were lucky to get the lighter edge of this last snowstorm, but just that part of it left 5-6 inches here. i can only imagine how heavy the snow must have come down for it to be so much in such a short amount of time. it is these kind of storms that really make it so you are really looking forward to the spring and the warmer weather and i don't mind the rain cause you don't have to shovel the rain. i just hope that all the snow doesn't melt too fast cause then you can get some flooding and that would not be good at all for anyone. that was the worst part of the big storm we had back in 93 was all the snow because it was in march melted way too fast and cause major flooding in our area.
