In all my working years I have never left a job. Places where I work have closed causing me to change or I moved to a different area and the same firm did not ave a branch there but a part from that I stayed in the same position as I was happy.
Something that would cause me to change might be if the same job came up nearer home (not the case nowadays as I work quite close to home and only have a ten minute drive). If the situation became unpleasant due to friction with colleagues or the feeling that I was being underpaid and could have the same role elsewhere with a higher wage (this is not the case either because I have a great relationship with my collegues and the pay is correct for the job I have).
I would quit if my health was to deteriorate and it became necessary to stay at home rather than going out every day to work. I couldn't afford to do that at the moment but thankfully my helath appears to be fine too - but we never know what is around the corner so that would be a reason for quitting.
I shall quit in a few years time because I will be able to go on the pension. I shall then decide whether I would prefer to be at home and able to manage my time on a lower income but free to do other things or whether I want to continue for a few years longer, health permitting as I said above.

I have been lucky all through my working life. I have always had jobs that I enjoyed with great colleagues too

Hmmm that's such a great thing. You just have to wait till your pension time comes. Then you can travel anywhere you want without the worry to the job. About the health, I was with my senior who had job and worked with unstable time. I meant he had shift which always changing. It's really a killing work time.

I think the best reason or reasons that I can think of would be if my own perspective doesn't match what the company's portfolio is, I'll resign. Somewhere along those lines. For me, at least, I feel that there are certain aspirations and expectations out of a job that I take on, and if it doesn't prove to be challenging or interesting anymore, I'll still stick to it, as long as the company's policy is aligned with my inspirations. But if I feel like really out of shape in that sense, I'll pretty much resign.

About being yourself to do what is really fit you the most and be loyal to the company that has policy get along well with your inspiration. Well, you didn't mention about the salary or payment at all. Doesn't it mean you just like to be honest with yourself? That's nice!

I've only resigned from one job in my entire life. That was when I worked at the hospital and the reason that I ended up resigning was because I had injured myself at work and was on restrictions. Well, a month went by and I was still on restrictions but my boss decided that she really needed me to take a team of patients and scheduled me to be on the floor even though I wasn't allowed to do more than lifting ten pounds and I really wouldn't have been effective at getting anything done. I ended up turning in my resignation papers.

For me, I resigned in my first job because I felt that my promotion was deliberately withheld from me just because I do not 'gel' with our manager and the second one was because I followed my husband.
Though I can say that most of us resign because of greener pastures or if we are not happy with what we are doing. I think the latter is one of the major reasons why we resign. Since we spent most of our time in the office, we want it to be a happy environment.

I resigned from my previous job which was online English teacher in a Japanese company here in the Philippines simply because I was no longer happy with that job. Well, it has nothing to do with the tasks and the job itself. I was not happy primarily because of the management. I am not talking about those Japanese executives from Japan. I am talking about the assistant to the managing director of the company who is a Filipina. She was supposed to support her fellow Filipino but it seemed like she was against us. She made herself richer while making the employees poorer. We only had very small salary in that company even if we are professionals. There was indeed a mismanagement in that company. And because of that, this company is already about to be bankrupted. That's what i've heard from some of my friends who also worked there before. There are only very few teachers who continue to work there.

Ohhhh I clearly understand that. My girlfriend used to teach online for korean company before. Her manager was a Filipina also and she doesn't have any knowledge about management at all. Only if she get the benefits then she'll just take advantage on her subordinates. So when my girlfriedn quit the job, everyone else also did at the same time with her. Today she will have interview in a new place where her co-worker suggested, the same job, online teacher. I don't know what's the company this time but I wish her luck to get the job and find the better place there.

It's a family business and i don't see myself being able to grow to my fullest potential.
Real reason: Boss's son doesn't work and i have to do all his work. But at the end of the day, he is the recognized one.

I'm not happy anymore. That usually is my reason to shift to another career or job. If I'm not happy anymore I find other option. I can't stay in a place wherein I feel sad and depressed. I find a job that suits me, something that I will enjoy and will benefit more.
