Can money buy happiness?
I personally think that it can't, but what it can do is prevent sadness and despair. It doesn't buy the happiness but it allows you to have the time to go find your happiness. The less sadness and hardships you have to deal with the more time you have to search for true happiness.
See right now I am still unemployed, even after 3 months of looking, so the money is right out the window. I however am a pretty happy guy. A while back I decided I just wouldn't let sadness, hardship, despair, and depression every bother me for more than one day. If I find myself getting sad or depressed I allow it to affect me until I go to sleep, and when I wake up I just simply don't allow it to bother me. I know it sounds simple but the same works with fear. If you allow fear to infect you, take over and really seep into your soul...but only for 5 seconds and after than five seconds you just tell yourself it isn't going to affect you it really works. I have managed to find happiness in some of the worst situations I will ever be in my life. I know it doesn't take money, but it can help decrease the number of days I let the hardships get to me.
What about you guys, what do you think?

hi friend! It depends on that what happiness are you searching for, because if you feel happy like having somethings you have always wanted like car, house, pet, wife than my answer is YES, money can buy happiness! but if you feel happy with some girl who will love you, than even the whole money on the world will not help you, to make her loves you, if she don't. Health you can also buy in the most cases, so that you can be happy, but you know, there are some diseases for which there is no cure- in this case money can't buy you happiness too!!!

hi, for me happiness are both things, but if I must choose only the one of them, i will choose the love, because no material thing can buy me the love of some person, you can buy the body, but you can buy the heart and that what is inside it!!!

No I don't think money can buy ones happiness, BUT It can buy peace of mind.
Having money means not worrying so much about the little things in life. It means your mortgage, light, gas, heat, oil, cable, phone, trash, sewer and any other bill you may be able to think of is paid in full with no chance of threat of disconnect. It means that food is abundant and there are no worries as to how to feed the family next week. It means that everyone in the family has shelter, and clothing with no worries. It means that there is chance people may be able to enjoy vacations away for no reason and long weekend getaways with no worries of having to skip payment on something in order to do so.
So to sum it up...NO ...money doesn't buy happiness or love ~ but it does buy peace of mind and allows you to concentrate on happiness and love ;)

ALthough you may be right, I personally was not speaking of being extremely wealthy.....I just want exactly what I said above...which balls down to not sweating the small stuff and just worrying about genuinly being happy.

Money doesn't always bring people peace of mind. Look at the extremely wealthy. they spend most of their time trying to figure out how to make more money or keep other people from taking it away from them.
I am happy with having "just enough" to do the things I need to for all of us to be comfortable and a few of the things that we would like to do.

I agree, money doesn't make you happy. Look at Scrooge, was he happy? I think not! All money can do for you is make life easier because you can buy everything you need from food to education, but well off folks are unhappy all the time.

Yup seems to be the case. I wonder if you took someone who was partly happy with no money and gave them all the money in the world, if they would be happier afterw ards.

I do not believe that money has the power to buy you happiness. Some of the poorest people that I know are also the happiest people that I know. The richest people I know, seem to be the saddest.
I think that money can make our lives less stressful. It would certainly be nice not to have to worry about the mortgage and car payments. It would be nice to have a few extra bucks now and then for a few luxuries.
I believe that you can play little mind games with yourself. You can convince yourself to be happy just as you can determine to allow yourself to wallow in pity and dispair.
I think that it is great that you do not let your situation keep you down!

Money can't buy you happiness, but it does make a big difference in the way you live your life so you don't have to go through really bad economical situations, for example if you have money you can afford to have the best health care, the best education, so that can make a difference in your life, but without the love of your family, friends, husband, without the fulfillment of a great career, without good friends and the most important without health, you don't have anything. I think it plays a big role in your life, but it is not the magic formula to the happiness.

I have always wondered though, what if you had the millions it takes to run a test on humanity. Provide a few groups with all the money they could ever want and give another group nothing. I think that would be an interesting study.

Hello lizardgod. I wrote this blog and I would like to share it with you and all mylot friends. It's about happiness and I aptly titled it "In Pursuit of Happiness". Here goes...
Happiness...aahh...who would not want to be happy. We need to be happy because the quality of our existence depends on it. Life is what we make it, as they used to say. Happiness, like beauty comes from within us. It is for us to seek it no matter how miserable and depressed we may be at the moment. It is a matter of choice, an option which comes in easy if we want it.
Happiness comes in any form, shape or source. It may be different from one person to another. One may be happy for having lots of money; another may find joy in the presence of kin and love ones; or perhaps having good health. Some people, quite oddly, even find happiness seeing or making others miserable and unhappy. It is therefore, a decision for you to make for yourself and not for others to set it for you.
How then do we seek happiness? The answer lies in one taking cognizance of his positive traits, his strengths, good deeds and talents. Make these work for himself to attain happiness and make it grow. Do things that make you feel good: commune with nature, appreciate the beauty of mother earth and help preserve her bounty. Talk to your God and thank Him for your existence. Accept the trials and tribulations that come your way; the pain and the heartaches that is part of human life and harbor the hope that all these will just pass. Once you have understood all these, then you are on your way to achieving lasting happiness.

I think money per se cannot bring happiness, because happiness is when you are full filled in what you are aspiring for. But money can help in full filling some of your aspirations, which may otherwise lead to sadness.

don't loose hope lizardgod, you're fortunate enough and please do count your blessings. I myself is unemployed for almost a year now, can you believe the frustrtations i've been through. I had to change careers just to acquire a more stable job. It is an unfair world out there, I know that. Just be prepared and you'll be fine. Hang on and be strong and do pray a lot because it definitely helps. Happy mylotting lizardgod.

Money can't buy happiness. It is the root to all evil. People tend to fight over money and including property. Money only satisfies you for a short period of time but not true happiness. The best things in life are for free that is what I say. ^^

hi..
money definitely can't buy happiness... i'd tell this example.. a man with loads of money always thinks and thinks how to safeguard his money and loses sleep whereas the other would be content with what he earns and does'n bother about other things and lives happily.. so its sure that money can't buy happiness...

That actually depends on the mindset you have for money. If your desire money out of greed, you would never find happiness. Greed can never satisfy happiness and you would just end up in vicious cycle of wanting to get more money. That's why a beggar can be happier than a rich man. However, if you are using money as a way of enjoyment or helping others, you would be able to find true happiness from there.
