Storing family photos for future generations. Old photos are delicate and require special storage if they are going to stay preserved for several generations. Album storage or digital storage for photos? Digital storage for old photos is the best solution, because it offers the ability to preserve old photos indefinitely, share them online, and save on a Cd, so, in this way you will have your old photos in 3 places; 1. In computer 2. In your box in home 3. ON the CD too, if your computer will lose some data.

well yes this is something which is very important for any photographer. you should know how good your photos are backed up. i use a USB external hard drive to store all my snaps and also have a copy in DVD so that5 I can also get them back if my HDD snaps for some odd reason. because pictures are like moments. if you loose them, you will never get back those moments. http://onesnapeveryday.blogspot.com/

I have loads of pictures taken even before the digital cameras came into existence. I have a problem. they are all in albums and it is a herculelan task to dititalise them as no one these days who come over ever is interested in going thru these albums unlike in the good old days!!

I store my pictures on my computer, but also on disks in the house incase something happens to my hard drive. When I have had laptops break on me in the past, I've saved the harddrives, so I didn't lose any of my pictures. I have two old hard drives full of pictures amd music, inside remote drive holders that I can connect to my computer with a USB port.

Well, I save my photos in the computer. I upload them in a photo hosting site so even the computer will lose data, I don't have to worry, because it's in the internet.

The photographs taken recently are from a digital camera, so it would be stored in a PC. But then we do have old photographs which are stored in a box.

I have a lot of pictures on paper in albums that I store in plastic bins. I've been scanning them and putting them on thumb drives, a few of the pictures I have ended up torn or stuck to each other and ruined. I've kept them on disks but after a disk gets so old, they tend to get little spots on them and then they don't work. I think as often as everything changes, in a few years, I'll have to change the thumb drives onto some other kind of storage. I've had to replace the hard drive in a couple computers and try to keep up with the pictures/thumb drives.

Back before digital cameras became so popular I had a regular 35 mm camera and in order to see the pictures I had to print them of course. I kept the ones I liked and any ones that didnt turn out good I threw away. I kept them in photo albums in a tote under my bed. Now with the digital camera I sometimes but very seldom at that print them out. I keep them on my computer until I have a lot and then I burn them to cds. I would like to keep them on my computer so I could look at them all the time but it would take up way to much space of my computers memory.

I guess I store some photos in all three places. I have some older, pre-digital, photos, that I have in acid-free photo albums under my bed. I don't have the patience, or the time, to get them all on my computer. I have newer ones both on my computer, and on CDs. I've had to reboot my computer before, so I always save pictures on CDs.

I have been using digital cameras for taking pictures for a long time. Digital photos are so much more convenient than film photos. They are easier to store and don't take up much physical space. What's more, digital photos can be safely stored in external storage like hard disks or CDs, unlike film negatives where it is prone to wear and tear. Nowadays, I like to burn my photos on CDs and make musical slide shows out of it. It makes the memories even more special.

I keep all my pictures on my computer, i think its more of the convienence than enything. When special ocasions arise i will print out pictures, but 99% of the time i just load them all onto my computer.

I usually scan all my photographs into the computer and store them in my computer for safekeeping. For those photographs that my friends may also want to see, I would put them up in facebook to share.

Yes,storing them on the computer is the best way of sharing the photos with the others while in the album is the safest way,so I prefer album storage.

I store photos in all forms. I store photos in Computer, in home photo Albums and in CD's too. I, with my family, see all these albums/photo and really enjoy. Some old photos add the tast in the memories.

I store some of my recent photos in computer documents. Some of our old photos are saved in a photo albums. Some of my photos too are save in my usb. I only use my usb on one computer only so that it cannot have a virus. What is digital storage, haven't seen one of it. I also do share my photos online or save it on my emails.

In the past I would keep my photos in the albums. Since today I just use the digital camera and I seldom print out all of the digital photos. So I keep these digital photos in my portable hard disk and also burn them into DVD. And I also uploaded many photos online. I love China

As far as I am concerned, I think I prefer to store the photos in my computer where I can see them as I like. I usually have a lot of photos taken in some very famous place of interests. So I value my photos so much . I want to keep them till the end of the world. The time I was so old enough, I can take them out to have a loook and enjoy the life before.

I know it sounds crazy, but I do store my photos in boxes that are stacked on shelves in my closets. When I was 19 we had a fire and amazingly, I didn't loose but a couple pictures I had posted on my wall. You would think that I of all people would know to have back up but I just can't seem to get into the habit of using alternate methods for storage. This is pure laziness on my part. Since I am now married and have I child, I know I really need to take this more serious if only for my daughter. What is an easy way I could go about storing these with out having a ton of time invested in it myself?
