I have had both. I like it each way. I have had coconut in it too, not bad. But I make mine plain with whipped cream on top, or layered.

When I serve this jello dish I don't tell tell people what's in it because to some it sounds too weird. So if they don't know what they are eating, they enjoy it.
It 's not so strange really
Orange jello
whipped cream
crushed pineapple - strain and use juice as a sub for part or all of the water
and
Grated Cheese. I'm serious I never have any left over

I don't know if I would like the idea of putting carrots in my jello.. I think that wouldn't end up being something I would eat a lot of.. But I know that each & every time I make strawberry jello that I always include fruit. I usually will buy a can of fruit cocktail & then put some of the juice from the can, along with the fruit in the jello.. And put it back in the fridge for an hr. or two & it will be all set then.
And I usually put it in some glass bowls & put some whipping cream on top.. I know my other half & me really enjoy having it this way each & every time..
But I think you can include different types of fruit in your jello, but it all depends upon the flavor of the jello itself. I know that instead of including fruit cocktail I will include bananas sometimes or peaches.. I know that peaches gives it a little twist & it's something different to try every once in a while..
I think the best thing I have found so far that tastes good in jello.. Would be fruit.. And I'd probably stick to that.. Just try to put different fruits in the jello each & every time I make it so it's not always the same..

I put vodka in my jello. I don't have it very often... but when I do, that's usually what's in it.
When I was younger the lunch ladies used to put carrots and cabbage in jello. yuck!
My moms friend puts cranberries in hers.

What we like to do with Jello is 2 things...One is to make Jigglers, the directions are on the back of the box. And you can even add fruit to them if you like. We also use cookie cutters sometimes to make shapes.
The other thing we like to make is Jello Freeze Pops. We use the large box(6oz) like Blackcherry, 2 packages of Blackcherry Kool-Aid, 2 cups of sugar, 2 cups of hot water, 2 cups of cold water..Stir real good....Now you can buy the freeze pops molds or do like we do.. I use 10 8 fl oz cups with lids and freeze them that way and we eat them out of the cups like icees...
With all the Jello and Kool-Aid you can make many good favors....

First of all, the idea of carrots in jello is repulsive to me! I'm not a big carrot fan to begin with. I've never been more adventurous than adding fruit to jello, but there are some really great ideas here. I'm going to try making it with applesauce, and I also want to try it with granola and once with fruit and nuts. I never thought of adding nuts. I use the sugar-free jello for myself, and any of these would make a great snack if you're watching calories.

I don't like fruit, so I mix whip creme in it for the kids. They love it when I do that. The carrots I have seen, but that is not appealing to me...Yuk!

Jello is an American thing isnt it? Its the same as ordinary jelly, or is it always savoury? I've seen it in films and its always seems to be green, so I'm not dure what flavour it is. In the UK jelly is usually fruit flavoured, strawberry or rasberry or orange often and usually eaten as part of a dessert, is Jello lime flavoured maybe?

I have seen many things in jello before but I actually don't put anything in mine, I eat it just plain.
