I'm curious did you rent or buy your house? Is it your first house? How did you finance it? Mortgage? Please tell me something about your house.

Rent, I've had two mortgages, that's enough for me.

No, I don't mean I've had a double mortgage. I mean that I have owned two houses before, not at the same time. Unless you own the house out right, no payment, you are just renting it from the bank. Renting gives you more freedom.

Two? You mean double mortgage on one house? Do you believe that renting gives more security than buying?

Before my husband and I had gotten married we had a joint savings account where we each put in extra money that we did not need. I had done a few surveys and the money from the surveys went into this account. We were both working and were able to do this. The joint savings account was for our wedding and for our first home. My parents and his mom had access to this account as well and would put money in it. Our wedding was well under budget and we were able to save a lot of money for the downpayment on the house. We do have a mortgage, but we always pay it on time. We are grateful that we were able to buy our house. We were married almost a year before we bought the house. It was our goal and we had made it happen. I am hoping to make enough money online so we can fix things up little by little. I am hoping to have this done in the next two years.

I believe you have a generous family with your parents contributing towards your budget. Could you tell us something about your house? The neighborhood, amount of rooms? :)

It is a three bedroom, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen and a dining room. We have an acre and a half of land. It is on a corner lot which gives us plenty of room. I am going to plant some new trees this spring.

You've got some generous aunts then. The bank owns your house until you're finished paying them off. Yet we talk about owning a house even if we financed it through a mortgage. ;)

My parents and his mom helped us with the down payment. Actually my parents given us the option of either helping us with the downpayment for the house or having them pay for the wedding, of course we opted for them to help with the down payment. Of course we have a mortgage and are hoping to pay it off in 15 years.

That's what the English/Americans call a mortgage. You get a lot of money from the bank under the condition that when you can't pay they may sell your house. It's the only way for a lot of people to buy a house. While you're actually getting yourself in a lot of debt, in the future your house may be worth more and you can use that money for your family. ;) Unless you're screwed by the real estate bubble like happened recently.

good luck celestrialpurity. I think it is great that you live with your parents so it gives you an opportunity to save up for a house. Here a couple of suggestions for you. First, open a savings account where you can put in any amount of money. Check with banks and they can help you out. Also, try not spend too much money so you can save it.

Oh cool! We're renting the same house for 10 years now. Two bedrooms, one kitchen one living room. Very small and the neighborhood is a pain in the neck with all those badly cared for rebellious children around. How's your house like?

Our house has three bedrooms, one kitchen, one living room, and two bathrooms. Our house is just the right size, not to small and not to big! The only problem we have is a heighbor that does not know when to go to sleep!

I've been living together with my boyfriend for about 6 months now. It's our first house and we don't have steady contracts yet and are both still studying, so that's why we decided to rent our first home. That way we can get used to having our home, get settled and get our studies done before we get into looking for a home of our own. If something gets broken it can be very expensive and with a rental house you don't have to pay for fixing these things yourself, whilst with your own home you need to pay for (most of the time costly) repairs.

i grew up in a house that is owned by my mother and my father. now that i have my own family we are renting a two bedrom apartment. we would love to buy ourselves a house but for the meantime it is not yet possible. but it is one of our dream to buy and to own a house. how about you, do you rent or to you live at your own house.

I live with my mother in a rented house. It's likely that I will have my own small room in a year where I will get some help with my daily life. Washing clothes, that kinds of things. I am 18 so that's one big step for me!

I would rather buy my own home than to rent it . For the beggining it`s good all that i can afford, even if it`s a house with one room . It`s better to pay a monthly bill for that house than to pay a rent every month . Paying for your own house , you`ll have your own house, but if you`ll pay the rent, you will never own that house , and you will lose a lot of money in some years .

If you buy your house it's your property and when you're finished paying down your mortgage you have a valuable asset that is likely to increase value. For those who rent the reason mostly is that they do not have enough financial security to go for a mortgage. :)

I own a house in Metro Detroit. It's a standard, three bedroom house with a finished basement. We have 30 year mortgage and enjoy the neighborhood very much. I have to ask, what is it lie to live in New York Do you live near New York City?

I'm on the outskirts of London, England and I have bought my second house. It is financed by a very large mortgage although I had a deposit as well which I got from the sale of my previous house. The last house was bought with a mortgage, too, and the deposit on that was from my savings. A lot of people I know rent places but there is no stability there, often their landlords decide to sell up and they have to move on. I wouldn't like to live that way, I like having my own address and knowing it will only change when I want it to. It also gives me more freedom to decorate and look after it how I want to.
