Hi J.A.! I missed this discussion when you posted it! I love soups in cold weather. My favorite is onion and potato and second best is minestrone. I make both from scratch and for minestrone I use the pesto I make from the basil I grow. During Summer months I prefer a cold soup, such as the Spanish gazpacho. This last one is very easy to make as it`s just puting some veggies in a blender.

My favorite is chicken soup with mixture of potatoes, carrots, baby corn and mushrooms. I never added cheese into my diet except for a sandwiches or pizza. Because I like my food spicy and sour, I always provide extra chilli and lime.

My favorite soup is bean and bacon, as love the smell and its so filling on a cold night. If I buy canned soup, then I add vegetables, as there aren't enough in the condensed cans. They are cheap canned soup, but mostly just water.

My favorite it my homemade chicken noodle soup. Well it's more like a everything under the kitchen sink chicken noodle soup as there's alot more in it than your broth, noodles, carrots, and chicken when I make it. I make it so hearty it puts the canned stuff to shame.

The best soup that I ever had is called white chicken chili. It uses a white bean like navy bean, chili seasonings for spice and pieces of chicken. I had it served in a bread bowl. When I make soups, I often add some instant mashed potato flakes because it thickens the soup up. My husband does not like watery soups. He prefers stews or just meat and veggies. We also use parsley as a main ingredient.

My current favorite is broccoli cheese. Panera bread has some that is just yummy. I havent tried to make it at home but I guess that I could. I think my mom makes some. My dad who is not much of a soup eater really likes it.

Usually I use chicken noodle as a dumping (adding odd veggies ect that need to be used) and or really filling soup. I do occasionally add lot of stuff to ramen noodle soup too, usually canned veggies.
