One fine day, you're malling with your friends and having a good time. You happen to see a manequin wearing a very beautiful dress from the expensive boutique. You're really really excited to try it on and then you did. You stand in front of a mirror wearing the dress thinking "it looks good on me......" but you're not really sure. But you still bought the dress (even if it's a costly piece of clothing) and hurriedly went home to fit the dress again. You took the dress out of the shopping bag, tried it on, stand in front of the mirror again and then boom! You suddenly frown saying "this dress doesn't look good on me! why did i buy it?!"
Have you ever been in this situation before? I've been in this lotsa times! and i regret buying those clothes that i don't really want...

I have never had this problem because I usually make sure that the outfit is exactly what I want, but know many women who only try on the dress for a minute, hurry home with it, and then realize the mistake.

I'm a woman! Look closer at my avatar. I just take my time when shopping, and sometimes I bring people with me when I shop. I often times know what I am looking for, and I never judge an outfit by how the display looks. I use my own judgement when it comes to clothes. I know that I do not have the perfect body, and that I am not perfect, and thus, I do not hold high expectations. If it looks good on me, I am buying it. I went clothes shopping this weekend. I put together my own outfits. I bought clothes that I thought looked good on me. You have to be your own judge.

Oh, also never buy anything on an impulse. That always leads to trouble.

Hi, Chocolatelle, this makes me laugh because its happened to me many times. What i do now is i bring along a friend that has good taste. A female. LOL I will try the dress on and i make her swear she will tell me the truth, so help her God.
She agrees and we go out and she already knows i want something that is slimming.
I try on the stuff and she is truthful to me, sometimes too truthful, but i appreciate it.
I cant rely on my husband, or my sons, so this is the only way i know of getting a truthful second opinion!
Good luck.

hello dgtempe1! i love your response. it made me smile :) thank you for that. next time, i'll drag my friend and make HER (not him lol!) swear too to be honest about the outfits that i'm going to try. but i don't think i can't handle the part where she'd tell the honest brutal truth about what i'm trying on. I should prepare for that LOL! good day ^_^

Always glad to help, and its even better if you get a smile out of it!!! :)
You have to bite the bullett if she says she doesnt like it on you. That's why you should bring along a girlfriend with the closest taste to your as possible. Good luck, i hope this works for you. I never trust the people in the fitting rooms, they always say you look magnificent!!! Ahem.....

That is so true! the people in the fitting rooms are good at saying those flowery words so you have to buy their product because they're so nice and entertaining. but the truth is they just want your money LOL!

Hi chocolatelle! I'm a picky person, in all things. In buying clothes, I am also very picky and it take me a long time to choose. I don't buy clothes that I haven't tried yet, that's why every time I saw a clothes that I like, I always try it in the fitting room. I will not buy it if I don't look good wearing it. In a situation where I already bought it and when I tried at home it doesn't looks good, I will return it and replace with another one. I will not force myself to wear something that I will not look good. Well, this is how I am in choosing clothes to wear. Have a nice day! Happy myLotting!

I too always try the clothes first before buying them. i just hate it when i'm soooo happy trying it on and when i look in the mirror my mind automatically says "it looks good on you. go ahead and buy it!" So i guess I should buy stuff when my feelings are in a neutral state ha ha! thanks for your response markmoney! ^_^

Hi chocolattelle,
It happenned to me a couple of times when I was young. I remember that later on I was very mad ay myself. So that I decided to think a bit (before buying anything) what kind of clothes NEVER looked really well on me. I discovered the neck cut that suited me best, the lines (vertical for me), the colours. Then when I went shopping and I fell in love with a dress, I looked at it, tried it on and then went to a tea shop for a cup od coffee. If I was with someone, I´d talk it over with her (the "hims" are not good helpers), if I was alone, I talked to myself. Then I went back to the store and tried it on again. Many times, the first glow had vanished and it did not pass the test.
I still do my shopping this way. And I have some clothes that hve 20 years and I still use them. They always made me feel well and if treated well they last long.
I also think that part of my clothes have to be very classical so that I always have something to wear from one year to the other. Then I can buy a little gadget to make it look new (a scarf, a piece of fake jewelry)
Happy posting!

good day! You're right about the "hims" not being good helpers lol! I went shopping with my dad (ONCE) and every time i try something on he'll always say you look good in all of them. I end up buying zero clothes that day and all we did was binging on sweets (good times ^_^). and yes i should find time to accessorize! even a plain white blouse can turn into something pretty with the right accessories.

My hubby didn´t even know what to buy for him. So I would "take" him to buy clothes. He could stay hours at the machinery part of a store though. He was able to coontemplate a screwdriver as if it was a painting.
But getting your bestfriend to go with you is ok. The girlfiend who is capable of telling you not to dare buy that color lipstick fot you.

I think a lot of women have done this more than once in their lives, and the idea is "but it looked really good on the manequin!" Hehehehe. I think it was more of, I just can't believe that it doesn't look good on me, so I'll still buy it cause maybe it's just the mirror, or maybe I'm just fat that day. Hehehehe. Good think I have 2 others sisters, so if it doesn't really good on me, then there is still a chance that it would fit my sisters better. Hehe.

Hahahaha. You are free to borrow mine anytime. It really is really fun to go shopping with my sisters since you can ask them about the clothes, and the style, and they just never tires out (unlike my boyfriend. Hahaha)

I have had that kind of experiences many times. I'd buy clothes that look good when I first fitted but when already home I would see the clothes did not really look good as I first thought. Well I am glad that now we can always return the clothes within seven days or sometimes even more than seven days depending on the policy of the shop. So I always make it a point to keep my receipts so that I could return any clothes that I want returned. For as long as I've not really used the clothes and it is still within the seven days grace period and i have the receipt as proof of purchase then I really have nothing to worry.

Hey!
i think lot of us face this once or twice when it comes to clothing.same with me.Now i learned a few things from those experiences.I always take time before buying anything.I think more than twice and try too before buying. We usually love clothes color or fabric type or something else in the first look and later one can really see how it looks when wearing the same piece.so that is my strategy.

I agree! always take time before buying anything! I'm guilty of impulsive buying and that's why some of my shopping experiences don't go pretty well. I end up spending money on unimportant stuff. I just wish i could go back in time and buy what i really needed. happy mylotting!

Hi there !
Manequins have been made to be models. We often see them with beutiful clothes and it is really nice looking them. In buying clothes we must not be impulsive. let's imagine oursleves if the dress fits our skin tone, figure etc..
The best way to be satisfied in purchasing clothes is to fit it in the fitting room. Get a lot of dresses and try if it fits and look nice on you. You can bring friends with you and ask their comment if the one you are wearing looks good on you.
Hope that helps !!!

Yeah, it happened to me a couple of times, I think it has happened to every girl almost. The sad thing is, there is not really much you can do about it. You just need to live with the fact that not every purchase you make will be a successful one.
