There have been several emails circulated since about 2001 which give 'advice' on the way to eat fruit. There is no scientific evidence to suggest that these recommendations have any truth in them.

Fruit is often used as a dessert course. If it were really that bad for your digestion, it would not be such a common practice.

I had to go to the main page and find the article, which is #18 under 'Diet' on this page: http://www.globalhealthandfitness.com/ , because the link didn't format correctly for some reason. The article you quote is practically identical to the one quoted and commented on by Snopes. Did you actually read their comments? They point out that the ideas promoted in the article seem to have been drawn from various crank writers and have absolutely no basis in scientific fact.
The business about fruit being quicker to digest than bread and that the food in your stomach 'putrefies' if you mix them is complete rubbish. Your stomach is quite capable of dealing with several different kinds of food at once and nothing 'spoils', 'goes bad' or 'putrefies'.
It is true that one can use a fruit based diet to 'detoxify' but it is a specific dietary plan that is done over a number of days. It is NOT true that one should habitually eat fruit on an empty stomach.
There are many excellent diet plans written by good practical dieticians. The site you quoted appears to be a mixture of articles written by different people (often without credit given to the original authors) and appears to be solely a vehicle for selling David Gebe's books and CDs.

i know, it used to be common practice today. i have read article that write like this.
fruits should be eaten on an empty stomach. if you eat on an empty stomach, it will also help to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities. not as dessert after you meal as it is often done. the fruit mixes with putrefying other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat.

the best time to eat fruit is from the time you get up in the morning until about noon. It cleanses your system and eases you into the big eating habits of the day.
Late at night when I am hungry about 10 or 11 pm I will grab some fruit with cottage cheese to carry me through until morning. You can also juice your fruits together for a quick grab and go breakfast.

any part of the fruit is great for you. Each one has their own benefits to your body. If you own a juicer, I would recommend it to run fruits though and drink your fiber for the day. It will clean your system of unwanted waste that may be stuck. Eating the fruit will keep you full for awhile, juicing your fruit will make you need another snack or two in about 2 to 3 hours. Using fresh fruits are better than using any canned stuff.

if you eat fruits 30 minutes after meal, the fruits would no longer help you digesting the food from your meal. in aid of digestion, you can take in a few minutes (5 minutes max) before or after your meal. Your meal gets fully digested and transferred from the stomach to the small intestines after 30 minutes. Once in the intestines, they are no longer for digestion but for disposal.

hie,
i was told that the best time to eat fruits was before meal time as fruits digest faster than main meals. so i have been keeping to this practise for quite some time. i dont know whether is really helps but to me it is alright. why? eating fruits first to some extent, i am quarter full and thus i dont need to take more carbohrdrate food like rice or bread . i round off my meal with a piece of pastry and with tea. a balanced diet counts alot.

Well, I've heard that watermelon takes a lot of time to digest in your stomach. I heard not to give watermelon to your kids before a meal because it would definitely spoil it (as it would sit in the stomach still waiting to be digested). When I was pregnant, I had gestational diabetes - and I was instructed not to eat fruit with breakfast or dinner as it raises the blood sugars at that time (not sure if that's the case with true diabetics).

if your losing fat and your working out either weight training or just cardio the best time to have fruits is 30 minutes after your workout for fast release of your depleted gylcogen and the required amount is 2 or 1 1/2 cup of fruits...avoid fruits that is high in sugar..

The best time to consume fruit is empty stomach in the morning or an hour before meals.Fruits when taken on empty stomach detoxifies the body ,supplies maximum energy, helps in loosing weight too. When a fruit is eaten with food or a sclice of bread it putrifies with other food and results in gas formation and digestion becomes a problem.Fruits when taken accordingly that is before meals gives radiance to the skin and health.I start my day with two oranges or a glass full of fresh orange juice .Breakfast is strictly after one hour.
