Smelly breath

How would you tell your friend that their breath really really smells? personal hygiene is very important, so how do you tell your friend without hurting their feelings? You hear that people talk about him or her behind their backs and they refuse to go out with them, now the people that has the smelly breath doesn't understand why or what the problem is. My question is that can't they smell their own breath and just no?

I think that most people don't realize how bad their own breath is. I have heard that if you lick the back of your hand and then smell it, you'll be able to tell if your breath is foul or not. You could always offer your friend a mint or piece of minty gum when you are around them. Maybe they will take the hint. If you are a really good friend and their breath is constantly bad then maybe you should sit down with them privately and nicely let them know of the problem. Chances are they didn't have a clue it was that bad.

Thanks for your response, you are right to tell them in a private setting, i would not want them to be ashamed in front of people. The truth always sets people free...
