Whay is that every time that I am not on mylot or anywhere near a computer for that matter do I have a thouusand and one ideas for discussions ... lol! Yet now that I have a computer in front of me and I am here on mylot now my mind is drawing a complete blank ... haha! I don't understand it and it just don't seem right ... lol! Does anyone else seem to have the same sort of issues as I have? Is there anything that anyone does to remember what they would like to discuss when not on mylot?

I learned awhile ago to always keep some type of small notepad and pen with me at all times..because for some odd reason the best ideas for discussions always come at the most inopertune moments.

Oh this has happened to me too, on many occasions. When it is convenient I will jot down the idea for later. Sometimes I can not write the thought down telling myself to remember. Often times, once I get logged into MyLot, my mind draws a blank. Keeping notes is very handy and a brilliant way to keep tally of your discussions.

That happens to me as well, and I keep a notepad with ideas, too.
But sometimes, I think of something to post, and the other day, when I sit at the computer, someone has already created a discussion exactly like mine, and sometimes with lots of responses! This has happened to me 3 times, I guess.

I think that is part of why I do not write many discussions, as well. If it is a general discussion then chances are the topic has been discussed. I do know that if I can make the discussion directly related to me personally it has a better chance of being a good discussion that is not duplicated in any way. The problem there is that there are some personal things I do not want to share all over the internet. I let people know about some things, but not everything. I especially protect the personal aspects of my family life and my friends and co workers.

Haha that sucks doesn't it that has also happened to me where I had a great idea for a discussion and then when I go to log into mylot the discussion is already there almost word for word ... lol! Oh well what do we do right there isn't really much we can do. I guess that is where the saying would fall into place great minds think alike ... lol!

Murphy's law, I uess. It's just like the old expressions "a watched pot never boils," or "a watched clock never ticks." LOL When we try too hard, we go dry.

Oh yes, that happens all the time! I'll go to bed thinking up all these discussions to get me to sleep, but by the time I wake up it's all forgotten - hee hee. As others have said, I would write them down too, if you have the chance. I have a little notebook that I stick in my purse (with a pen attached to it) so I can write down my potential myLot discussions, as well as my schedule, grocery lists, and other stuff I had better write or else I'd forget!

That's totally funny! I have fallen asleep thinking about something and it became meshed into my dreams. But I haven't dreamt about myLot yet . . . that would be interesting!! But knowing me, I'd forget about my dream once I woke up too - so there'd go the ideas anyway - ha ha!

I feel that if I forget something that important then maybe it wasn't worth remembering. I take a deep breath, go do something else, then come back to it. I find the more I think about something I tend to stress out even more. So in order to avoid something stressfull that could be avoided, I get away from it. Perhaps look around my lot respond to a few discussions or comment back. Sometimes doing those things help me to remember things I've forgotten.

Hi ronita, I guess it happens to most of us. It seems that the more we try hard to generate ideas, the lesser the generated ideas. On the other hand, the lesser we focus, the easier and the more frequent ideas will come to us. Anyway, fret not. Try to record your ideas when they come to you. You can write in a notebook, or save the idea in your mobile phone or PDA. Maybe my suggestions can be helpful to you.

I guess in a way it would be just like writing when it flows it flows and when it's dry it's dry ... lol! I think the trying to hard thing is probably it when I just don't think about things I seem to get farther along with them then when I just sit and ponder.

I very seldom start discussions. In fact, I am refusing to start any discussions until I go in and resolve all of my unresolved discussions. There are probably less than ten in all, but I just know I need to get it done. I really enjoy responding and commenting. However, in answer to your question--when I travel is when I get the most inspiration, so I take a notebook with me to write things down. I do not always use them when I get home, but they are there if I want them. There are other sites that I also use those ideas for. I am the scratch paper queen around my house, and I have old recycled paper cut in pieces and I make notes. I have a big sheet of paper in front of me on the computer desk and a pen. I also make notes when I am writing a freelance article. I have been known to write notes on table napkins at a meal or on paper towels that I pull off the roller at a rest stop. This discussion just reminded me of something I want to do on another site, and so I stopped long enough to write a note.

That is definately the way to do and that way a thought is never lost and if misplaced always found! I also enjoy responding and commenting to discussions as well as mylot in general. I never seem to be bored on here and I never lose interest either while on mylot. Thanks for your response Garden Gerty God Bless!!!

Hello ronita, I saw your discussion a couple of days ago, but only decided to come and respond to it today after finding a notebook from 3 years ago. When I started on mylot 3 years ago, I was very active and I purchased a notebook to jot things down. I wrote out ideas I would have for future discussions and notes about pictures that I wanted to get so that I could start a discussion around them. It was filled with all kinds of things and it was in my purse when I left the house and on my desk when at home.
So as many others suggested a notepad and pen, throw one in your purse, your glovebox of your car, if you work outside of the home one at work. Ideas can come at all times and it's nice to be able to jot things down as they come to you, for future use, as you get older this is important for everything.

This happens to me not only with mylot, but with most all sites I contribute to. I will have the best ideas while walking the dog..and by the time we get back to the house...they are gone..lol. My memory is not that great (probably some of my own fault) which is why I keep a notepad handy most times.
I also do this when making music playlists for my ipod. If I am elsewhere I will turn on my pandora radio and write songs down for downloading later and adding to my itunes. I have about 300 songs that I haven't even gotten to downloading as of yet...ugh..lol

It happens all the time and I put it down to that when you are away from a PC and myLot your mind is free to start taking in other things, newspaper articles, music on the radio, information on the TV and all of the these spark ideas. But when you are staring at the myLot page on your pc your mind is focussed on reading and responding to discussions rather than thinking new ones up.
What I have always done is when ever I get an idea is to write it down on paper than instance. It means I never forget them, struggle to try and remember them plus also gives me time to craft them into a clear discussion rather than just one hammered out on the spur of the moment.

I haven't started all that many discussions, and I can understan what you are saying. I don't get all that many ideas myself, as I have a hard time coming up with something interesting enough for users to want to respond to it. I fave found that when I get an idea, either write it down, or psot it immediately, so that it stays fresh in my mind, and I can say what I want to say when I post it. I don't understand why I have such a time with it, but I di, and the remedy for me ti so immediately write it down, or post it right away. Good luck to ou and happy mylotting.

That happens to me too so I jot them down as draft emails or text messages on my blackberry/mobile phone so that I do not forget them, because if I dont do that chances are when I sit infront of the pc may have forgotten.

I still remember my english teacher before telling us, writers great ideas pop out during unexpected time and even in the unexpected place and they even write it in tissue paper to remember what they've thought about. His advice to us is that if you would like to become a writer always bring a piece of paper where you can write your thoughts. I guess for all mylotters this is helpful.
