Time to sleep, time to wake up. - Get out of bed

Im curious to find out what wakes you up in the morning? Do you have a loud buzzer that has you jump out of your skin? Do you wake up to the sound of music or maybe the news so you know whats going on as soon as you open your eyes? Do you have someone waking you up? Do you have a clock and use the snooze lots of times? Do you use your cellphone maybe? Do you need a loud sound to wake you up or will a soft buzz get you out of bed?

I have always been able to tell myself when to wake up. Just before I go to sleep, I tell myself wake up at 7:00 and it works every time. But if I am ill I may go back to sleep.

Lucky you Savypat. Wish I could do the same. Tried it once and woke up way too late lol. I rely on my alarm clock and I often check twice and sometimes 3 times to make sure its set right. Hope you dont get ill too often but its great that you can go back to sleep.

Hello Cher, You're lucky to be able to wake up before the alarm goes off. Sounds nice that you wake up with some jazz music. Soft way to wake up and start the day. I bet it helps you wake up with a smile also.

I generally wake up when it gets light, so I sleep more in winter and less in summer. However, I'm generally able to get back to sleep, light or no light until my bladder or the cats insisting on being fed sometime today, forces me to crawl out to face the day. The only time that I use an alarm clock is when I absolutely have to be up at a particular time to get to get somewhere by a particular time. I hate alarm clocks!

Well, I don't work now, but when I did, I worked a permanent late shift that allowed me to get up at my own time every morning. That was my ideal working arrangement!

I hate them too Jwfarrimond. Wish we could all wake up when we want to but it cant be done if we have to go to work or have to be somewhere at a certain time. Lucky you to be able to enjoy your sleep......until your cats wake you up!! Thanks!

I use my body clock to wake me up. hehehe. I really rely on it to wake me up and it has never really let me down. I usually wake up at about the same time everyday, and I don't need an alarm clock to do it for me. I hate alarm clocks, and I hate it when someone wakes me up, cause I feel like I haven't had enough sleep yet cause my body has not told my brain to wake up yet. Hehehe.

Its really cool that you can rely on your body to wake you up in the morning Ingkingderders. I guess its the best way to wake up.....when your body tells you so. Good for you, I think you found the perfect solution. Thank you !!

I use the power of music to wake me up in the morning.I have many songs on the cellphone which have a slow and subtle tune to them and slowly picks up the pace. This makes me wake up easily as the tune at the start is slow and gradually builds up, this allows the brain to respond accordingly. I do not like to wake up suddenly as it gives me a headache for while. But i do shut of the alarm and go back to bed, it takes me at least two or more of those cycles to get me out of bed.My ex girlfriend used to wake me up, there is no music like her voice that could wake me up so quickly.

Ahhh so sweet of you to say that you enjoyed being awaken by your girlfriend's voice. Maybe you could have recorded her. I like that idea of starting with a slow tune then building up. Gives the brain and the body a chance to wake up slowly instead of jump start you. Thank you for participating!!

Hello nangisha. Sorry for replying to you so late. Sounds like you're one of the lucky ones who can wake up according to his body alarm. Good for you......me I need a parade in my bedroom to wake me up haha!! Thanks for taking the time to reply!

LOL I have three different alarm clocks. The first one that goes off is a loud buzzing sound, that one gets switched off and I snooze. The second one is an equally loud bleeping noise, but that also gets switched off. The third one is the one that generally works best. It is an old fashioned double bell type alarm clock that I have placed on the other side of the room so I HAVE to get out of bed just to shut the racket off :-D

For me it must have a train horn sound to wake me up. I often have my alarm clock set 17 mins fast but for some odd reason I continue to do the math to where it wakes me up on time and not 17 mins early! LOL When I try to allow the 17 min lead way I continiously set the alarm clock futrer and furher back as it goes off. I dare not hit the snooze button. I have this feeling that it will not go off and I will be late for work!!! Im not much of a morning peroson. So I guess this daily routine works for me!! I feel a bit wierd...I hope Im not alone!!

Oh no, you're definitely not alone. Im that way but I need the snooze button and I know mine goes off. You need to test yours but then maybe you'll forget to set it and then you'll oversleep. As for the train horn, I went on vacation and there was this train would go by rather close to the house in the middle of the night and of course, the horn was really loud....well I slept through it !!! If you hate mornings, you need to find a night job where you can wake up at night! Thanks Jde!!

I have my cellphone doing the waking up call for me. I usually put up an alarm of my favourite music along with a couple of snoozes to wake me up. And I also have to get up early in the morning to go to the company, so I usually get awake at some intervals and check the time myself and then go to sleep if still some time is remaining. And with the weekends, I don't use any alarms as I like to sleep sound on holidays!!

i guess its all about your sleeping body routine. like if you use to wake up 5am everydayy then im sure your mind will automatically awake even if no one wake you up unless your too tired as your mind need more sleep. but in any case like you need to wake up too early in one particular day, i guess you need an alarm or someone to wake you up since your mind is not into it. but as for me, i used my cp to alarm.

It is really hard for me to wake up in the morning because I really love to sleep and felt lazy in getting up in the bed. I use alarm clock but I used snooze and adjust the time because I feel sleepy at all times. im the type of person who cant wake up without it.

You're like me Junmae. Hitting the snooze button over and over again but still being tired and wanting to sleep more and more. Someone else here said that if you keep hitting the snooze and going back to sleep that it might be why we are so tired. I'll try not to and see how it goes. Thanks!!

I seldom use clock to wake me up since I always dont sleep well at night. If I set a clock, I will wake up before it sounds, so it seems useless for me.

A lot of times I use my body clock to wake up in the morning so that I won't be sleepy the whole day but sometimes there is someone who wakes me up and sometimes I wake up from the noise that my family make when they are already awake. I really can't wake up when I use my cellphone as an alarm clock and I never used an alarm clock before.

i use alarm clocks to wake me up in the morning... but usually even before the alarm clock goes off, i already wake up because i get used to it already... my biological clock is more effective than the alarm clock i think... :-) anyway, i still use the alarm clock just in case... if i am too tired the day before, i might not be able to wake up the following morning... take care and have a nice day...

Thank you Lingli!! Im jealous of you all having a biological clock to wake you up before the alarm goes off or even without anything to wake you up. Have a nice day also, thanks.

When I worked I had an alarm clock that was set to wake me up. The sound would be birds chirping. However, I use to wake up before it went off most times. Now that I'm not working I just wake up usually around the same time each morning without a clock. When I was a lot younger I you to wake up with a loud alarm bell ringing and I soon realized that was not good for my heart so early in the morning. For me The best thing was waking up before the alarm went off.

I agree with you 100% Lelin, this loud buzz sure isnt a calm way to start the day. Not to mention that it can scare the devil out of you, make your heart pound and stress you out even before you started your day. Good for you for being able to wake up on your own. Now you have calm wake-ups !! Thanks.

I work from home and don't have to be up early so I normally don't set an alarm. Most mornings either my dog wakes me up so she can go potty, something that I always welcome since it seems our bladders get full at the same time. Other days my cat wakes my by lying on my chest. Since I'm a very sound sleeper I'm sure she is checking to see if I'm still breathing. On those few days when I do have to be up at a special time I set the alarm on my cell phone. I must admit, I'm famous for hitting the snooze, although I recently heard that is the worse thing you can do. Catching those extra few minutes of sleep apparently makes you feel more tired and unrested.

Yup, know what you mean about the snooze, Im guilty of this also and I think you're right. I do feel more tired. But sometimes when I wake up and get up at the first buzz.....its like I havent slept at all. I get dizzy and all I can think about is go back to sleep lol. I guess we're lucky our dog doesnt wake us up in the morning......yet!!!! So you're a sound sleeper like me.....so you didnt notice the marching band around your bed, did you? ......kidding. Hey, welcome to Mylot and Im flattered Im the first discussion you reply to. Have fun and happy Mylotting (sorry never sure if its 2 't' or 1 ?!?!?
