Hey, there! Do you usually do your dishes manually or perhaps you have a dishwasher?
I wash the dishes manually, because we don't have a dishwasher, there is just too few room in our kitchen. I have no problems with that, although doing it using a dishwasher would save me lots of time and spare my hands from water damage.
What about you?:)

We don't have a dishwasher, and it's really not much used here in our country. We are used to just manual dish washing, and I don't think people really mind. Hehehehe. I have been washing dishes since I was a little kid, so I don't really mind, and it's not that much effort at all.

Well I think that dishwashers aren't very popular in our country too. People (including me) are used to washing the dishes by hand, so it's not a problem for them. I've also helped my mother with doing the dishes since I was a kid.

You're right, western people live more comfortable life. Although I have to admit we also use a machine for doing laundry.

Yeah, dishwashers are only popular in the west, maybe because they don't really have time to do the dishes cause they have a lot of other things to do.. Even washing clothes here are not as automatic as in the US where you just put your clothes in the machine and it would do everything for you. A lot of people still wash their clothes by hand.

We do our dishes manually, i think there will be very few homes in the Philippines where you will find dishwahers. I used to not like the chore because we used detergent and that gives me allergies on my hands if I use it for a long time. But now we have liquid dishwashing soap that are more delicate and very effective too.

I don't that dishwashers are widespread in our country too, they're just not popular amongst people.
I agree, that some detergents can be really irritating and hostile to your skin, so it's good that you've managed to find a gentle and at the same time effective one. Thank you for your answer!:)

By hand!. I don't have the funds to purchase a dishwasher although I really would love one of those contraptions in my flat! I don't think there's anyone that really loves or enjoys washing dishes, it's such a mundane task but sadly it has to be done otherwise there won't be any dishes left to consume our food on! When I cook a meal I make sure that I fill a washing up bowl with boiling hot water and by the time I have eaten my meal the water has become just lukewarm and then I can do the dishes right away, there's no leaving dishes overnight with me!. Maybe when my finances improve, if they ever improve, I will then purchase a dishwasher and catch up with the modern times! Andrew

Hey Andrew, and thanks for responding to my discussion once again! I am sure that using dishwasher would be much more comfortable and save us some time too. However, dishwasher isn't easy to afford, we also haven't got one. I have no problem with doing dishes manually, but I would enjoy it more if a machine would do it for me!

I have never used the dishwasher, but it seems to be quite complicated procedure, because you have to prepare the dishes before putting them into the machine. Thanks for sharing!:)

I've never had a dishwasher, nor did my parents ever have one, even though they could have afforded one.
Washing them by hand seems so much better because you can see whether or not you have washed off all of the dirt, instead of just relying on some machine

Thanks for responding to my discussion once again, MrKennedy! I agree, you can get your dishes cleaned thoroughly when you do it manually, because you can see if all the food traces have been removed from them or not.

The dishwasher failed to reach our home thats why I wash the dishes with my hands. Even though it makes my hand feel sick, it only takes a few minutes to wash plates. It is somewhat confidence building to wash own dishes and I just feel proud of my thorough cleaning lol.

I agree, if you wash your dishes manually, you can be sure that they're nice and clean, because you can control the process of washing and remove all the soil from the plates. Thanks for feedback!:)

At my house we use our dishwasher for just about everything. Last year our old dishwasher broke and we were going insane for a month having to wash all of the dishes by hand, and then we finally bought a new dishwasher. Never take your dishwasher for granted!

It can be real awful, when you get used to the dishwasher and one day it just breaks down. It's good that you finally managed to get a new one! Thanks for responding!:)

I hate using a dishwasher...it comes from my childhood. My stepfather used to make us load the dishwasher after dinner and the person assigned to dishes that night had to sit and wait for it to wash and dry before doing other things...like playing. It used to drive me crazy and I could never figure out why we couldn't just wash and dry them and be done with it. Then he wouldn't even let us dry them from the dishwasher...so we had to wait while it dried them. I still at 49 think he was just being mean and exercising his "control" over us.
I still use the dishwasher but would much rather just wash them, dry them and put them away.

That's a really unpleasant memory from your childhood. I think there wasn't any true reason for doing dishes in a way your stepfather ordered you to. I understand why you don't like to use dishwasher now. Thanks for responding!:)

I do them manually too. And just like you, I wash the dishes only once a day. Well, we actually do the dishes twice a day, but my sister usually takes care of the second time. It's good that you're trying to save the water by doing them once a day, whole load at a time. Thanks for sharing!:)

Before moving into my new apartment I would only wash my dishes manually. Now that I have a dishwasher that is all I use. It got addicting pretty fast. Not sure if that could be do to the fact that I do not have enough counter space in my kitchen for my microwave and dish drainer and it gets frustrating washing dishes and continuously bending to place them in the washer to dry. I personally like to wash them manually because I know they are clean once dry but when using the dishwasher I must check each dish after its dried. I hate the water spots also.

Well, using the dishwasher has it's pros and cons. Perhaps in your case it's really better to use dishwasher, so you would have a chance to wash and dry the dishes at once. Thanks for responding!:)

It seems to be a wise choice in your case, because you seem to be always having lots of dishes to do and washing them may take really much of your precious time. I bet it feels good when you cook knowing that you won't have to clean up all the mess later, the machine will do it for you. Thanks for feedback!:)

Hello Biomechanoid. I dont have a dishwasher and dont really need one as theres only me and my husband. I think Id need way too much dishes to be able to fill it all up haha.
I wash it manually and I use a great soap that doesnt damage my hands. I also like once in a while to add vinegar to sanitize it all.
If you find that water damages your hands, maybe you could wear rubber gloves?

We don't have a dishwasher so we have to wash the dishes manually. However, I seldom wash the dishes since we have a Nanny who does it for us. I want the dishes to be washed as soon as all of us are done eating. I don't want to leave it unwashed on the sink. Good thing our Nanny washes it as soon as all of us are done eating.

It seems that you don't have to worry about your dishes, because they get done by another person. It's wise to wash them immediately after the meal, because if the traces of food will dry up, they will be much more harder to remove from the plate. Thanks for answering!:)

hi! I do my dishes manually because I don't have a dishwasher, and I also don't need any, because I have no wife no kids, and a whole dishwasher for 3-4 dishes it really doesn't worth

You're right, there is no sense of buying a dishwasher just to wash a couple of plates in it. Thanks for feedback!:)
