I like broccoli, but I've gotten tired of it. And sadly I no longer have a parent to make me eat it. So I need some new ideas to make broccoli more appetizing. How do you get your kids/spouse/self to eat broccoli and like it? What's your favorite way to prepare it or your favorite dish to use it in?

I love broccoli, and it's so good for you too! One of my favorite ways to eat broccoli is to cook the broccoli, make a thin white sauce and eat it on toast. Sometimes I'll add a little melted cheese into it. I do the same thing with asperagus, and one day I thought I'd try it with the broccoli spears and I liked it really well. I also like to make a dish with macaroni and cheese with chicken added. Then I'll add some broccoli to it. My whole family likes it that way too. The little ones (grandchildren) weren't too big on broccoli, but I found if I make them into smaller pieces before adding it into a dish, they will eat it. Gramma here also calls broccoli 'summer trees' and cauliflower is 'winter trees', don't know why but they get a kick out of that (like maybe the word broccoli is too strange lol).

Hmmm, never thought of the creamed tuna on toast, now that sounds good! And, with the addition of broccoli it could be real tasty. Thanks for the new taste hint:-) I'm definitely giving that one a try!

Summer trees and winter trees! That is so cute! Your recipe for broccoli on toast sounds really similar to my stepmom's creamed tuna on toast, except with broccoli instead of tuna- although I bet it'd still be good with tuna and broccoli.

I usually put it in my chicken stir fries in my own special soy based sauce. I adire eating it fresh...and you can pretty much slip it into any dish for a change of pace. Alot of people pair it with noodles and put it in various casseroles. =o
And lol, most people here have already stated alot of the other things that came to mind for it...so yeah. I hope you find new ways to enjoy brocoli!

I usually just put a light Kraft Single on top of mine and let it melt a little. I also like it with just a little salt or I put just a little vinaigrette dressing on it. I do eat it raw quite often too, I just use a low fat ranch dip or I mix a little Frank's Red Hot sauce in with ranch dressing. That makes a great dip for veggies, chicken tenders or pretty much any dippable food.

Broccoli is one of the cruciferous veggies and is incredibly good for you. I chip it up and put it in salads. I steam it and put a little olive oil on it or I stir fry it in combination with other veggies. I make fake mashed potatoes using cauliflower instead of potatoes and sometimes add a little bit of broccoli to teh cauliflower mixture, Tou can serve it with a cheese sauce as well but that add's a lot of fat to a healthy dish. I sometimes, chop it up and top a baked potatoe with it and a bit of salsa. Very good.

The best way for me to get my kids to eat it is to serve it raw with a veggie dip.
My husband and I like it steamed slightly, but still a little crispy, mushy broccoli is nasty. I make a raw broccoli salad that is good and every once in awhile I add some fried bacon pieces to steamed broccoli, it just adds a little something different to it.

I made a pretty good spinach dip for a concert reception last week. I served it with bread but I thought that it would be pretty good with raw veggies, too- so maybe next time I make it I'll try some broccoli with it. I do plan to try raw broccoli salad this week.

My wife once cooked something with broccoli in it. She grilled the broccoli for a while, enough for it to secrete it's delicious juice. She put it in the fridge added ground pepper, salt and a touch of curry powder. Then she just cooked a white sauce pasta (i'm not sure if it was carbonara) then she sliced the broccoli and added it to the pasta. That was yummy.

I put it on top of beef stew, it tastes great. Another one is adding it to vegetable salad. dip it with a mixed catsup and mayonnaise, the children loved it. Just don't overcooked it cause it will lose its nutrients. My mother said it's good for the immune system and the bones, it's also a fiber food which cleanses the intestines. Happy eating!
