yes we do turn it on. i wont buy one if i wont use it. we turn it on specially on a hot might for my wife has asthma. if we wont turn that on she will not able to sleep for her asthma will attack. but on a weather that is bearable we dont use it for the electric bill goes really high if everyday use. but i guess we will be using it more for it is really getting hot here everyday.

waking up and drinking water is much easier to do than to make my wife's asthma attacks subside. so its okay. with aircon or not we always have water at the table for i do wake up to pee and to drink water. this is nature already for us with or without the aircon.

Yes we do have our aircon turned on when my son sleeps in the afternoon. Also, at night when we all sleep already we have to turn it on since the heat is just not tolerable these days. Summer is coming for our country thus it is time to put the aircon on high at nights and on day time stay inside the mall to keep ourselves from being heat stroked by the sun.

No, but the heating is! I still had ice on my window this morning, I must get it repaired. It was -20 degrees at 10 am, so at the moment I don't need air condition but more firewood. Must get out to get some today. Sometimes in the summer I wish I had air condition, but it's never so warm for a longer period of time that we really need it. I think most people have air condition in their cars but not in their homes. Some kind of heating (usually more than one), but not air condition.

Our air conditioning is called the window LOL
If it is too hot at night, the window s open.
We have it open for months and then around September when the nights start to draw in, we close it and it will remain closed till about April or may.
Not many houses here have air conditioning.
Building such as factories and offices do.
Even schools seem not to have it.

You would need to have gauze or netting to keep them out I suppose.
My sons bedroom window has fine netting on the two opening windows. It fixes on with Velcro (hook and loop).
He hates flying insects but his computer screen attracts them so we put the netting up an it helps.

just suggestion though, it is better not to turn it on when you are sleeping, as your body liquid will be absorbed (literally). i used to turned on back few years ago and every mornign when i woke up, i will have terrible headache. But when i stop this habit (even though feels bit hot), the headache is gone now.

Ours is on a thermostat, so if the house gets above a certain temperature, it goes on automatically. Same thing for the heater...

actually, we don't have air conditioner and i suppose we don't need it. we have a very ventilated room and it is not necessary to have an air conditioner. but we have electric fans that we used to turn on even when we sleep. this is to put away mosquitoes and keep the room a bit cooler when it is summer or not so hot weather.

I live in a city which is very hot almost througout the year. So, it is important to have an air conditioner. My husband can't live here without air conditioner. We keeps the air conditioner on, when we sleep. He is not a good sleeper. He gets up at intervals in night to have water, pee, etc. So, he keeps it off when it is cold. Anway, I sleep well with a blanket on. The chillness he wants is more than the normal leve I expect. So, it is fine for me to sleep with a blanket on.

Nice to hear your response. Thanks.
Well, when your husband are awaken to pee and at the same time turn off the air con, it is good. But don't you think it will ruin his health. I trust that it would be better to just sleep when it is time to sleep and don't drink too much water before sleeping as it may make us pee in the middle of the night.

I'm in the USA and I only use my air conditioner in the spring, summer, and early fall. I use it in the warmer months, in other words. My house is all electric and my air conditioner and heat is set so it will cut on and off. I hope that makes sense. I use the heat in the winter. Talking about the air conditioner, it will come on when it gets too hot in here and cut off when it's cool enough. With the heat, when it's too cool in here, it will come on. When it's warm enough, it will cut off. Kathy.

yes, in fact I only turn it on when I'm about to sleep and turn it off after a few hours, unfortunately the timer is not working anymore so I wake up just to turn it off.

Only in the really hot months of summer does the air condition get turned on. I mean when it is at least in the mid to high eighties or greater. And really, sleeping in that weather without air conditioning can be hard to do. Even though a fan is on, it still might work. It just helps me sleep but only in those hotter days of the year. The days where it is so uncomfortable that it is hard to sleep. The pillows do not stay cold, the sheets get sweaty in a hurry even if we lay there for a long time. I think it is perfectly fine if it is used sparingly. Only when absolutely necessary, otherwise, do not really even bother with turning it on.

I always turn on my air conditioner. It's very hot here in the Philippines so I really need to turn it on to make myself comfortable, especially when sleeping. I have insomnia so I can hardly sleep well. If I won't turn it on, I will surely have interrupted sleep. I am aware that it isn't good for the health but it is the only thing that can give me comfort when sleeping.

That has to depend on the weather. In my country, the weather is warm and humid all year round, except maybe near the end of the year, the weather turns wet and cooling. We will not switch on the air-con unless the weather is really dreadfully hot which causes a problem while sleeping. Otherwise, we would turn on the electric fan instead.

I don't think it will be unhygienic. As you sleeping, if your air conditioner is maintained and cleaned in regular intervals, then the indoor air quality will be clean and healthy. No matter how long will it be running.
