My Dell laptop battery stop working last month. And I bought a new one to replace it. Now what can I do with the old one? Is it possible that there is some use of it? Or I just need to throw it away. But I do not if it will do something harmful to the environment. Do you have any suggestions? Thank you very much!

When you buy another battery take it with you. Tell the clerk you need another battery and tell them to keep your old one.

Do not throw. It will spoil the environment.
Give it to Recyclers.
I am sure you have them in your city.
Yes, batteries stop working after 1 year so. My laptop battery too is showing signs of dying. I am also forced to consider replacing the same. Do any one of you know whether I can revive the existing battery???

Definitely donate it. These kinds of batteries are made with some pretty nasty stuff, e.g. Cadmium. If you're looking for recycling information http://www.earth911.com has a lot of information. Also, depending on which country you're in, there are recycling programs that accept these batteries for recycling free of charge.

I tell you my laptop battery isnt working anymore for months now so its always plugged on electrical power always and i have no problem with it being like it is so far.
Well yes i can't bring it outside my house anymore or use it anywhere i please but better than nothing.
I just have the battery there inside and sometimes it gives me alert that its charging.

I faced the same problem, the dealer said, battery needed replacement, so i bought one new from him, he took the old one and deducted 200 rupees from the cost of new one, not a bad deal..
Thanks for sharing
Cheers.
God bless you, have a nice day ahead.

Well, throw it away should be the last choice for you. I think you can bring that old battery to DELL and find out that if they can replace or fix it for you. If not, give you old battery to some authority organization is much better than just throw it in to the trash.
