Would you read the book?

For those of you who don't really care to read as much as other things, if someone close to you such as your husband or wife, your parents, or your sibling wrote a book, would you read it? The reason I ask is because my husband doesn't really care to read. He might listen to an audio book, but that's as far as he would go. (LOL) I just wonder, since I love to write, would my own husband read a book if I wrote it? Would you read a book someone you know has written? Do you think those you know would read a book if you wrote one? Why or why not?

My sister is fond of writing poems and she always make us read it. She knows we dont understand it but she keeps on insisting that we read them. Its okay anyway, its a good way to support each other and maintain a good relationship with members of the family.

I am in a family of readers and writers so I think many of my family would read me. I love to share my things that I write, and am hoping that by next Christmas I will have a children's rhyming book, and some greeting cards that I have written. Yes, my husband would read it, and my kids and my dad, and my brother for sure.

It will depends on what topic he is writing & interest my passion to read a story book or novel. I will write those that interest people that cure their body sickness so that everyone will benefit & not waste their time on reading. If you read something there must be result on your part to be apply in daily lives.

I agree with you completely. There must be a point to reading. I know reading novels is mostly done for the fun of it since it isn't a true story. In other things like health and wellness as you said, there must be a benefit to it. If you wrote a book about how to be healthy, I would read it for sure! Keep up the good work.

Hi JJ4Ever! Its a very interesting question. If someone close to me, I mean, sisters, husband and parents wrote a book, yes I would read it. But if someone else like an uncle or neighbor wrote it, I will just ask my mom what it is about, because I know for sure she'll read it.
My neighbor wrote a book called "I love my mother in law". Its in spanish, and very short, but I'm really not interested in reading her book. A christian pastor of my city also wrote a book about God as a Father, he already passed away, but people say the book is really good, so if it get to my hands probably I'll read it.
On the other hand, if I write a book, I know my parents will read it, my sisters will be lazy and maybe the'll start to read it. My husband would read between pages and pretend he did read it!
I hope you write something someday and you can make it an audiobook so your husband listens to it! Have a great day, Libna.

Thank you, Libna, for your thorough and honest answer! If I ever wrote a book, it would probably be a true story of some experiences in my life in hopes of others learning from it. I would hope my hubby would read it, but you're probably right that either I'd have to turn it into an audio book or I could I always read it to him myself - LOL! Thanks again for sharing your experiences with the writings of others you know.

if somembody close to me wrote a book i would definitely read it.i think if you read somebodys personal things your get to know the person better, people dont really express there feelings to other people unlike paper. when your writing you feel free and different ideas and opinions are easier to express because nobody can tell you, you are wrong. i think your husband should atleast read your book he might find

That feeling of freedom is probably why we all come to MyLot each day! I love being able to portray my thoughts in writing each day. It's definitely an outlet for me. I think my husband will come around someday perhaps by the time I write and publish a book! Sometimes he is sitting here next to me while I'm on MyLot wondering what I'm writing about. Sometimes he'll sneak a peek at a discussion or response I wrote or something like that. So...slowly, but surely, he is showing signs of interest in reading! Maybe some day he'll come around - LOL! Thanks!

Of course, I'd read it. I'm a writer and can relate. My family aren't book folks either, yet they read amd buy the magazines I'm published in. It's the same reason I ask about their bowling tournaments, or whatever their doing that doesn't interest me. It's just being polite.

Hi JJ4Ever. I like to write short stories in Maltese my native language. My wife is not an avid reader but she is always the first one to read them and give me her feedback. I don't always listen to her but when she makes a valid contribution I try to better my writing skills.

My husband's "brother" was writing a story, a series of ten books but have sense stopped. A friend of ours like to write, and I also like to write. My husband reads usually whatever is handed to him, or whatever I have had him come in here and read of my ramblings. If my husband's "brother" or our friend were to ever publish what they are writing we would support them by buying a copy and reading it.

Wow, that's wonderful! I sure wish my husband would read whatever was handed to him, but he's not into reading that much. It's ok, though, because I think if something was worth it enough to us, I'd either read it to him or he'd get over the fact that he doesn't like reading so much to read whatever it was. Thanks for your response!

I like to read from time to time even though when I was younger I would not read because I had a short attention span, and I would forget what I read, and then when I met my wife she started reading to me,now I have gotten where I will read again if it is a book that interests me,and my brother has been writing a book, and he has like ten books planned out in his head, and me and my wife have been reading it as he wrote it,but he has stopped writing it so we no longer have to read it,and whenever my wife writes a story I always read it especially since she is a good writer, and because I love her.

I think that's great your wife started reading to you. My husband hates to read, so I've been thinking about doing this for him (if he could stay in one spot for me to read to him - he's always so busy - LOL!) I might try this for a little while and see how it works. He also says that he won't listen to an audio book because it would be boring, but since he drives for a living I think he might see it differently if he actually tried it. We'll see how my experiments work! Thanks for your response. It gives me hope that maybe someday my husband will just pick up a book to read for fun.

First of all I would read a book if someone I knew wrote it. I think that I would be more eager to read it than ever. I have written a manuscript and I will be working on getting it published this year. I'm hoping my family memebers will be the first customers.

If one of my family members or my friends wrote a book I would definitely read it to help support them and too see what they had to say and how interesting their book was. My loved ones usually know some pretty interesting things so I'm sure that they could write a pretty interesting book.

Of course I would! I just love reading, it is a favorite passtime of mine, and knowing that someone I know has taken their time to actually write and publish a book would be even more satisfying!

I believe that in turn, you would satisfy the author by honored them to read their book. You could offer them great advice and honest critique, which is probably coveted by any author. They want to know that their work is good. That is an excellent answer - thanks!

Hi JJ4,
I love reading, and if any of the people I know would write a book, I'll definitely read it. I do love to write too, and if I do I will promote it to my loved ones and I'm quite sure they would want to know about it, and I have no doubt they will read it. I think your husband will be delighted to read whatever you will write, so go for it!

Yes, I would. It's really hard to have someone you know very well as a writer. I am an avid reader, and I know that I'm always curious about the author who wrote a captivating novel. If I know someone whom I know very well wrote a book, I will definitely support him by buying his book and read it. By the way, I showed my siblings some of the posts I wrote in myLot and my blog. They were surprised that I could actually write. It's kind of fun to see their expressions.

That's really neat! I find it intriguing learning new things about people. How effective of you to show your family members you love of writing. Do any of them join MyLot as a result? That would be wonderful if they did because then they could experience it firsthand! That was an excellent idea of you to share your writings with them in that way. It's neat because we will always have what we wrote on MyLot to go back and remember. I appreciate your response!

If someone close to me in my family or a gf/wife would write a book and ask me to read it i would definetly read it. I think certain people i know would read a book if i wrote one. Not because they think im a good writer but more cause i cant write that well heh. And considering i dont really read that much i would probably read the book at bed from time to time. Could be slow but i would get through it.

I love to write too, and read and my husband doesn't. We have been together for 14 years and I have never seen him read a book at all so if I wrote a book I certainly wouldn't expect him to read it. I don't think he would be well placed to be a constructive critic simply because he has nothing to compare it to and he wouldn't enjoy the reading experience.

Thanks for your honest response. I'm glad I'm not the only one who has a husband who doesn't read! I believe he gains his knowledge through experience and in other ways whereas I'm the nerd and think there's nothing better than sitting down to read a book or get on MyLot! Isn't it funny how different we are? I think it's great because opposites definitely attract! Congrats on fourteen years with your husband. That is absolutely wonderful! I can't thank you enough for your words of encouragement.
