I'm not sure how much truth there is to this, but I remember hearing in the original news articles when this was announced that it was a decision made prior to CBS announcing the new structure for this season of Survivor. Supposedly, they wanted to sponsor shows where more direct promotion of GM vehicles could be done, and there's not much you can do when everyone is isolated on an island.

What a bad idea for a company on the brink of disaster. I have a feeling that this will be the most interesting season of Survivor ever.

So far I think it was interesting to see if people hold to their same race or if they dont. It kinda made it more interesting to see what is going to happen, plus they need to change it up a little to get people watching, but they always mix up the tribes anyways so i know that it wouldnt last. I think is it a clever way to get people watching.

I think this is going to be a great season of Survivor too. Because they needed such a diverse group, they had to go out and recruit people so many of them were not Survivor fans so they will be playing the game their own way not trying to be like their favorite survivor and it will be like season one.
GM made a big mistake.

Fueling racial tensions?
Not the best thing to do. Make good telly though.
