I'm interested to know what kind of music do you think would be be appropriate to a family restaurant of sorts.
This is because it's usually a given that when we go to coffee shops, bossa music is on and I was wondering what would be a good genre of music to play. We usually have working people come in ranging from 20-50's if that may help. Interested to know what my fellow mylotters would think

I think it would be good to play some light and slow blues or jazz there. I think the music should be very calm and not play to loud. People must feel comfortable with it not be disturbed by it. I think some light house sounds would do the deal too.

music is not really matter ot me if we dine out in restaurant. what interest us is the food they offer if the foods are tasty or not and with reasonable price and if the service is excellent. but as for the date sake. like a romantic date with my bf i guess love song is appropriate with candle light. its very romantic that you cant even think if the foods are tasty or not

Hi,
The kind of environment you have mentioned here is actually less appropriate for classical or fast paced or loud music. Something that has a classical touch still not a slow number will be appropriate for gatherings like this. The reason is that, in family restaurant or similar places where people generally go in small groups, there is a little scope to pay attention to the music. It serves nothing but a pleasant background for a family conversation. People do like music in all occasions but while eating they will try to concentrate more on their food and the conversation they will have among them. You may choose some classic numbers which are melodious, pleasant to ears yet quite simple and easy going.
God bless you

hi! in my country there are different restaurants, but in the most Bulgarian restaurant the common music is either some traditional Bulgarian music or some retro dance songs from the 80's. in the CHinese restaurants the music is CHinese :)

For me, the kind of music that is appropriate in restaurants and fast foods will be classical music. It's because they are very warm in the ear and it calms people when listening to it. If it'll be the music, then customers will tend to enjoy their food more.
