WOW!!! Where were you when the Canadian men won?
I started off at the coffee shop, and listened to the scores broadcast by the bus drivers over their radio system on the way home. Then my husband and I listened to some Croatian and Serbian music like we always do on Sundays, but we had the TV on in the background with the volume turned down, so we could see the action and see the scores. When Canada won, we went nextdoor to the Army Navy Airforce Veterans club, and had a drink. Our city of Guelph Ontario was one BIg block party. All kinds of fun, all kinds of noise. We were not right downtown, as the bar was right next door, but I did get some of the noise on tape! LOL :)

Hey, hey, Canada won. I was coming home from a mall and asked the bus driver what he thought about our chances to win. He did not know. I got home and the score was 2-1. Then it got tied and Canada won in overtime. It was a great feeling but I felt so sad for the American Player Miller. He seemed to be hard broken. I had to cry a little. You must have felt something too with your husband being American.

I was rooting for the Americans, but if we had to lose I'm glad we lost to the Canadians. Did you see the closing ceremony with the gigantic hockey players and floating moose? I wonder if they had back-up silver medals made in case Canada lost to attach to the giant hockey players. Hats off Canada! Most gold medal by any host country in the Olympics.

To me the surprise wasn't that Canada won, it as that the U.S. actually managed to keep the game close. Heck, I didn't think they would get into the gold medal round! But when they beat Canada earlier in the competition I thought maybe they can at least medal. I never expected them to do as well as they did. But it was obvious in this game that the U.S. was overmatched. Canada was expected to win, and they certainly deserved the gold. They were fantastic. I know the NHL is hoping that this caught the attention of Americans so more people will watch hockey. Most people in America could not care less about hockey, but I would bet money that even though it won't be a major spike, there will be spike in ratings for the NHL. Congratulations Canada!

Did Canada win the most medals? I hope so. I believe the bobsleigh was a bit of a shambles. Who won that, do you know?

Yes! Big Congratulations to Canada and all Olympic Athletes.
What a fantastic event!
I watched the Game on T.V. last night (yesterday), Hockey that is and boy, a nail biter it was. May the best team win!
Yippie Yahoo! I was so darn happy when Crosby scored in O.T. Such a Sweet Victory for Canada. Sad for the Americans, especially the team mate that succumbed to tears.
What a beautiful day it was!
An uproar within blocks, car horns honking as they went down the highway. Similar to yourself, right next door is a local neighborhood pub which we could hear the glorious hoots and hollers emitting from!
In fact, we seen the over all metal score as well. It was a day to be Proud as a Canadian, that's for sure!
Did you get a chance to see the closing ceremonies? I loved the part where Canada handed off the games to Russia for 2014. The introduction from Russia was as impressive as our own, in the opening of the games too.
It was a beautiful day yesterday. The spirits of neighbors, friends and most all Canadians, high and mighty, celebrating a day of much happiness and gratefulness for all of those who contribute to make us the great country that we are!

Yes, Congrats to Canada. Congrats to the US as well. We weren't even expected to get to the medal round. It was a well fought battle with both teams coming out with dignity. We got one and you got one. Unfortunately, yours was the one that counted, LOL. Until the next olympics......

Hi Hun! As you know I am Canadian too and I am so excited right now about how well our Canadian teams have been doing! We are in 3rd place with the most medals total (26 ... and of the 26 14 of them are GOLD!) The 2 ahead of us are Germany with 30 medals total, and the US with 37 medals total! We are still kicking some serious butt though! Yaaaaaayyyyyyy Canada!

You count that way? We put the once first that have the most gold, which means you're first. I think you're first on the "Most gold medals totally in one Winter Olympic" too. We'll still come in fourth I think, so what the news papers do then are try to figure out a way to count so that we end up first. Medals per inhabitant is quite popular, and there's been a Norway versus Sweden contest going on on both sides of the border, I suppose there has been one for Canada versus the US too?

It went into overtime, so it's not as though Canada put a huge beating on the USA. Let's not forget this factual tidbit.
Hmm...I say, congratulations USA. We owned the medals podium.

Ah coolcoder, no sour grapes please!
Nobody talks about giving the USA a huge beating. Canada clearly had the better team, although both teams were excellent. In typical Canadian fashion the commentary after the game were gracious and modest, really good sportsmanship. As I said earlier in my comment to Danish Canadians, my heart went out to the American goal tender Millar, obviously he did a terrific job and was clearly heart broken. I shed a tear for him.
Yes, USA you owned the medal podium, but consider this:
USA has a population of over 200 Mill. people therefore more possibilities to select a golden crop of athletes.
Germany has a population of 82 Mill people and came in second. Again a lot of choice of athletes.
Canada has a population of 33 Mill people and came in third, but had the most gold medals ever won in winter Olympics.
So let's celebrate this wonderful event which took place with joy and in peace.
You did well and so did we. It was great!

Where I was? Probably sound asleep :-) I don't even know where I was when Oddvar Brå broke his ski pole. Schocking, isn't it? :-)
For clarification: Oddvar Brå, a Norwegian cross country skier, broke his ski pole in the mens 4*10 km in the World Championships in Oslo in 1982. After that, the question "Where were you when Oddvar Brå broke his ski pole?" has become quite famous in Norway, reflecting what people felt when they saw it on the TV. I was a bit too young to care I think, and have no idea what I was doing.
Congrats to Canada though!

I was watching yesterday, and yes I am very proud to be a Canadian right now. It was a close game, they battled well over every point. I think I will now watch a bit more hockey because of it and help to root for my Canadian team once again.
YAY CANADA!
