I mean, we all know that the world is in crisis in terms of Financials and with all the calamities going on.
People often resort to stealing and deception just to be able to feed their family. So they're not necessarily doing it for greed, right?
Could you blame them for doing such crimes? We can't seem to find jobs easily, but the family needs to eat.
Let's say you got robbed and you know the person who robbed you and they'd beg for your mercy and let's say he has got a reason to do so, let's say his son is really sick and he can't afford the medicine. Would you still report him to the police?

It's not an excuse and it will never be.. i would definitely report him to the police for stealing my things. experiencing financial predicament is not a good excuse to commit a crime like stealing, etc.. if you need financial help, you can just ask your family or other people (friends, government officials, etc) to support you. you can also apply for blue collar jobs if you don't hold a college diploma.. just don't lose hope. pray and exert your best effort to solve your financial problems..

that is the most unacceptable excuses.. you know we human have brains... and can think properly.. except for few special situation(maniac)... crime increase because people are desperate are not an excuse it is one of the truth... it is just like anything in this world.. when they are pushed to their limit they will blow up..
crime is just one way for those lazy person to get cash out..... they are desperate alright, they are desperate because they dont want to make earnings the right way.. and because they want to be rich in an instant... if you ask me i would say that it is not an excuse but rather a cause of crime...desperation.

i couldn't accept that as an excuse because to me a crime is still a crime... i would prefer people to beg and ask me for money or food if they are really desperate rather than stealing... stealing is never the right thing to do no matter how desperate your situation is... take care and have a nice day...

Honestly Laydee I dont think its an excuse but I do think people are driven to crime. I mean I can see a mom shoplifting food because her kids are hungry. I dont think its an excuse to shoplift. You know its wrong from the start. If everybody commit crimes because they didnt have everything they need or want in life well shoot everyone would be committing crimes and using this as an excuse. If you exhausted all avenues and no one can help you so you shoplift a can of soup well then you were drawn to do something wrong. You should be held accountable but they should take into consideration the circumstances to why you stole that soup. dl

Do I understand it.. yes.. do I think it's a a reasonable, logical excuse? Absolutely not. I'm not sure if I would report that person for robbing me or not.. for robbing someone else, yes.
I've no job, nor had one for several years and I have severe physical limitations... but I don't rob other people. Another horrible downside is that people often say things such as this as lies to get sympathy in the hopes of not being reported to the police.
Catch 22 :x

Nope, a bad doing can never be justified. No matter how desperate I am, I will not result to committing crimes. There are other ways to cope with a problem without doing the bad things. If the person who robs me would have a very good reason, its still the law that will reprimand him. I may forgive him but his liability to the law still imposed. And he should deal with its consequences.

Hi, Laydee!
I would never consider these or anything else an excuse for crime. Jobs are, indeed, very hard to find. They are, however, out there. I'd take the most difficult, dirtiest job I had to long before I'd consider committing any crime!

I know it's a hard thing to do to turn someone you know into the police, but that's exactly what you should do. In the United States, no one needs to resort to thievery to provide for their family. There are agencies, both government and private, that see to the needs of the desperate. No matter what the excuse is for committing a crimes, it gets easier another crime the next time you think you have a need if no one puts a stop to it.

Well i think i will help his family as per my financial condition but definitely report him to police, we all suffer from our problems, i agree with you about financial crisis and not getting job even we are eligible, efficent and deserving and situation is same for all we have to manage to come out from it & that's how the life is,just to choose a way of crime even for once it's not a right excuse but just to runaway from the feeling of crime.Crime is crime even if we have a genuine reason for it.

I may not report him. But more importantly he should try stealing from hospitals or pharmacies. You see I condone robin hood vigilanties who steal from the rich and give to the poor, whether that be themselves or someone they know who needs it.
