Sites requesting a driver's license for payment....

I belong to some GPT sites, survey sites, etc. to make some extra money. On one of the GPT sites I received and email that they want some form of valid ID (driver's license) before they can process a payment for me. I thought this was kind of odd since I have already received a payment from them in the past. Has anyone heard of any sites doing this recently?

Check that the email is genuinely from the GPT site - that really does sound like it could be a phishing email How do they normally pay you??

I personally wouldn't do it. I have seen where there are sites that will request tax information when you are getting close to the amount that is required to file a 1099 for your earnings, but this, to me sounds a little bit fishy. Are you close to $600 for the year on this site already, or are they really just trying to fish for information by seeing who it is that is dumb enough to give away their personal information for no reason?

I wouldnt trust them. Especially since you say they paid before and didnt have it. I would probably try sticking to sites that pay through paypal. All they would need is your email.

No, the only thing I have had verified is my phone number and address... not anything more personal and I wouldnt go for that anyway...I dont trust others with information like that. that would sound suspicious to me as well... I hope you dont give out that kind of information. good luck to you with all your sites and stay safe with them too!! Happy Mylotting.

no i have not come across anything like that. and i would suggest that you avoid doing that. most probably it is a phishing mail. however one thing you can do is to check the terms and conditions of that site again to see if they have added any new clause. if they have a new requirement they must have mentioned it on the site itself.

No I never heard of that! I would go directly to the site and PM the admin using the sites internal "trouble ticket" system. Wait to hear it from the site's admin. Could be that the site got hacked and the hacker is gathering personal info from email address's he found at the site.

Good idea. I'm going to go right through the site and get in touch with the admin.

To me it is scary when a site starts asking for more and more info. I don't like it at all.
