Global warming suicides irony

Way back when, Tipper Gore wanted Judas Priest, Black Sabbath and other bands sued when teens committed suicide and left notes containing some of their lyrics or ideas. Now her husband, Al Gore, has "caused" the same type of misery in Argentina. Here's an article about it:
http://www.laht.com/article.asp?ArticleId=352991&CategoryId=14093
The couple was apparently terrified of global warming and made a pact to kill themselves and their children. The 7 month old baby will be alright after suffering 3 days with a gunshot wound to the chest, all alone until neighbors noticed the smell of decompostition.
This couple were nuts and had other problems. They chose global warming as their focal point, just as those teens chose certain bands as theirs. Al Gore has made millions by promoting this global warming myth and hysteria and I find it ironic he is now in the same position as those who were persecuted by his wife years ago.
What do you think?

My thoughts exactly. But they probably will never hear of it, they are so insulated and I doubt that they would care, anyway.

Hello dragon54u! I find your post very interesting!
I would never think of that irony! I think that global warming is going to affect us and specially our next generations. But you are right, Al Gore is doing all these things for the money!
Have a nice day, Libna.

One thing about the whole warming things is that it did bring a clearer picture of what each of us can do to limit our impact. Although I think global warming (climate change) is a scam, I learned some things from it about how to better treat our earth so there was some good that came from it.

It is pretty apparent that SOMETHING is goin on, whether it is manmade or cyclical...I just disagree with him and his crowd as to what should be done about it.

While I understand what you mean, I can't laugh about it. Those people were very sick and the theory gave them an excuse kill themselves and their family. They did leave a little girl behind, though, and perhaps she will not be as totally off the wall crazy as her parents were.

I hate the fact that our whole attention is constantly attracted to fear based
information. I don't know what it will take to turn this around from fear to hope.
We insist on being obsessed by the physical world over which we have very little control instead of puting our energy toward the spiritual one which does not require anything more than awareness.

The people have been lured away from the spiritual world by cheap materialism. The ones in charge use that to keep us in a constant state of worry and alarm. Until we realize where the real treasures lie, we will continue to be oppressed and mill about like sheep outside the slaughterhouse.

savypat, you hit the nail on the head. Fear based govering keeps all us under their thumbs...unable to think for ourselves and beholding to 'big brother' for our security.
I don't think it's even about the issues with most of the liberal politicians, it's about controling the masses. Anyone who pays attention to the goings on in DC could tell you that the democrats are not concerned with childrens welfare, women's rights or minorities being given a fair deal...it just makes good copy at election time. Anne Coulter makes a good case for this in her book SLANDER, if you can handle her sarcasm.

Gosh dragon. That's just downright disturbing. Suddenly my sore throat that appeared mysteriously yesterday morning doesn't seem so bad. I am writing on my first laptop: a five yr old apple iBook G4 and it is so comfortable and great to be able to type in bed propped up on pillows. My 1st thought was that the wife was like 30+ years older than the father. So this old guy is lucky enuff2get a "young hottie" and was blessed with 2 kids. I bet this was all the father's idea.
Global warming is not a "myth" in my opinion. It does worry me. Snow in Florida in um,,,NOT the norm, ha. But Jeez Louise.
Can you say, "Couples counseling?"

When people are that sick, they don't realize they need counseling. That's the sad fact and the reason they were able to do this.
As for snow in Florida--all 50 states, in fact!--El Nino and the jetstream are the cause of it, so they say.
Hey, congrats on the laptop! I hope you get over your sore throat quickly, that's so painful. I can't remember the last time I had something like that but at least you have a new toy to play with to cheer you up!

I'd almost forgotten about that...perhaps some private citizen should sue the Gore's for causing panic?

From the little I know about our law, only a person who is affected by this couples' actions could sue for damages. Perhaps some attorney in Argentina will file on behalf of the orphan daughter--she has certainly lost enough to justify an award of damages.

Gore's made so much money off of the global warming scare (remember that article on Public Servants?) that he can afford a whole slew of lawyers to beat down any chance the poor girl would have. So much for liberal's love of the downtrodden!

DeenaD, those people had serious problems and used the warming bit as justification. Sick people do that, latch onto something to rationalize their irrational actions. But by perpetuating this hoax, Mr. Gore and others like him acted irresponsibly. You could say that greed helped to kill that couple and one of their children by giving them an obsession that was legitimized by so many prominent people.

The first thing that came to mind when I read this was that Al Gore is now and always has been a total waste of space and it's obvious that it rubbed off on his wife. I hope someone somplace sues him right out of business and he rides off into the sunset.

I didn't see anything that suggested that Al Gore had anything to do with their deaths. However, it has always confused me that he personally felt able to travel thousands of miles by every kind of transportation that you can think of whilst at the same time complaining that our slavish use of fossil fuels is a major contribution to global warming - something that personally I don't believe has been adequately explained. I am entirely undecided on the issue. I find it hard to believe that mankind hasn't contributed something towards it, but I can also accept that it's not a new phenomenon.

It's a tragic shame that the hype and hysteria brought about by this global warming issue has lead to something so horrible. I do agree that this couple could not have been very rational to begin with but this is one of the terrible results of wide spread fear mongering. I doubt Al or Tipper will see the irony though.

i thought it was crazy of her way back then and crazy of anyone else today to kill theirselves to keep some catastrophy from killing them i have been concerned ever since watching that stupid Ventura guy once on Conspiracy theory. said id never watch it again. he convinced me possibley, the world will end with sun chunks dropping in our atmophere anyway, not going to kill myself before 1012 when its supposed to happen. try not to even think about it. why would someone want to ponder on it. its like they say, why die a thousand deaths before you really die.??

I agree. Sometimes I get to the edge of panic, wondering what will happen to my small investments that I'm depending on to help me when I get older. I wonder if I should do something different but hey, if the economy fails I'll have plenty of company--like the whole nation except for the politicians! Why worry?
2012 doesn't worry me. If it happens, it's Freedom Day for me, I get to see my departed loved ones and talk to Jesus. I don't believe the global warming scam and even if it was true, I can't do a thing about it. I'm sorry there are people that get obsessed with things to justify their sick wishes to kill their families, or whatever their motive was.

You can bet that Tipper won't have the same opinion concerning her husband and these unfortunate people in Argentina. As a matter of fact, I bet they will ignore the issue altogether and would only comment if forced to by some reporters question, at which point they would both take the exact opposite position and deny any connection whatsoever.
These rich politicians are all talk. He claims to be concerned about global warming at the same time he is living a luxurious lifestyle that has a "carbon footprint" many times that of a normal person. The only reason Al Gore cared about global warming is he saw he could capitalize on the issue and make millions of dollars. Why else would the data be manipulated? Why else would they try and cover up the fact that there hasn't been any measurable global warming since 1995? The only reason for them to cover up the truth is for money.
Al Gore pretends to be fighting a "noble" cause and Tipper pretends to be concerned and fighting for her "noble" cause... In fact, do you think people like this actually even care about the family in Argentina? Do you think either one of them would acknowledge even the slightest responsibility? I don't think so.
